Over a year ago, Lago’s mom had the pleasure of babysitting our friend Lisa’s flock while she went on her first-ever vacation! It was a fun-filled week with six birds in the house-Lago, Clover, and their new friends:
Oatie: A 12-year-old Quaker parrot just like Lago! We thought these two would become instant besties, but Oatie wasn’t quite ready for Lago’s endless energy (You know how it is when you are older around a youngin. Still, they got along and shared snacks (Oatie’s chip treats were a hit!), and even had a little chatter session during cage time.
Echo & Wave: Two adorable Green Linnies, aka the Peekaboo Monsters! Lago was entirely fascinated by them-probably thinking they were baby Quakers! They spoke, they would say Peekaboo and their names :D
Lilly: A sweet Pionus parrot with a big personality! Lilly couldn’t hang out with the wild crew too much, but she spent a lot of one-on-one time with Lago’s mom. Her favorite activities? Eating sweet potato, playing with her stuffed toy (while making the cutest little “oinks”), and enjoying looking out the window on her window perch.
Clover - Lago’s Conure sister, kept to herself mostly but stayed close to the action, especially when Lago and Oatie played.
It was such a joy having these wonderful birds over. From Lago serenading Oatie with “Bacon Pancakes” 🥓 🥞🎶🦖 to Oatie teaching Lago what ducks say (QUACK QUACK QUACK 🦆🦖), the week was full of laughs, love, and unforgettable moments. By the end of it, Oatie even let Lago’s mom give him a kiss! 💚
My apologies on this video edit! I geared it more towards bird TV for your parrots to watch! I was so busy caring for all 6 birds I wish I had more/ better footage!
Funny Note About Lago and Oatie;
A lot of Lago’s Instagram fans had the same burning question: How could you tell Lago and Oatie apart since they look almost identical? Well, here’s the answer...
Lago is a little chunkier than Oatie (no shame, buddy 😅), and if you look closely, you can just tell by their faces who’s who! I guess it’s one of those crazy bird mom instincts! 💚
