I'm British and lived in New York for a few years in the early 2010s. I had never watched the NBA, didn't really even while in NYC and haven't followed much since, aside from maybe watching a couple highlights from the championship games. Of course I'm well aware of the superstars like Lebron, Curry and Kobe. But aside from those guys I'd struggle to name more than 5-10 NBA players. BUT the one player that always stuck with me was Jeremy Lin. I went to Madison Square Garden whilst he was playing for there and thought he was electric. Now, 10+ years later I'm watching his highlights getting nostalgia of those days. Amazing!

People that hate want Lin to fail so bad. They always point out that it was only an 8 game stretch. But if you look at his whole career, he a better than average player. Nobody said he was Lebron but if any team would’ve invested and built around him as a center piece, he could’ve thrived to his full potential. But, because of the racism, we’ll always be left wondering what he could’ve done.

Knicks fans and Lin fans have to understand that Lin did this in the strike-shortened 2011-2012 season, when teams were playing a condensed schedule, and not many teams are glued in strike-shortened-seasons. And many of the teams that Lin did his magic was against weak teams. Nets went 22-44 Jazz made the postseason but with a weak 36-30 record. They were the 8th seed in the West Wizards were 20-46 Wolves were 26-40 Raptors were 23-43 The Lakers one is the WOW game, but thats it. Lakers went 41-25

At the time, I was not an NBA watcher but I know all about Linsanity back in 2012 and that speaks volumes of the impact he had during his glory run. I am truly happy he won a ring against the Warriors.
