Lost Beta Tape
Приєднався 13 чер 2006
Welcome to my video channel. I created Lost Beta Tape primarily to rescue and resuscitate older media and cultural relics from the time before the internet - when things moved slower, were perhaps slightly ugly and clunkier than they are today, and were less likely to be instantaneously commodified by the public via social media. Return to a time when all cultural choices were made at the corporate level by focus group committee or in the board room during dull whiteboard presentations. When "cool" was actually deterred by big advertising, and one had to sniff out subculture for oneself in the garbage-strewn alleyways among the grifters, punks and junkies.
Welcome to the land before hive mind, an alternate universe where VHS did not win out in the battle for analogue videotape supremacy and Betamax reigns as the alpha format. Welcome to Lost Beta Tape.

5:09 that is actually a legit clever use of costumes.
1:11 bro by some random reason this commercial let me confused/bothered. I spent a whole day thinking about it. Idk if she saying that it's the Land of Happiness and the footage itself is kinda sad looking (to me). Or is the background music, the way that she turns to say. Idk maybe I'm just overthinking with random things
Having a raccoon wash their hands with soap is way too cute

Here in Canada, we have a Salonpas commercial which ends with the word Hisamitsu being said in a sing song way.
Idk but watching old commercial so fun
There's a comforting quality to these. I feel like I'm in a paradise of consumerist joy and comfort.
Omg Vauxhall Cavalier/Opel Vectra in Japan!
Damn I'd eat me some chum mixer and I'm not even a dog.
As soon as she eats dog or cat food, her stomach begins to growl and she suffers from nausea and diarrhea for about a week. Solid foods are hard and pale tasting to the point of being hard to chew, and steamed chicken and fish meat have a disgusting taste, neither of which is good 🤢🤮

Fact: At this time US still have a trade war with Japan as with China today.
Interesting! Is the type comment I like to read. Everything looks pretty difference at that moment compared to actual time.
I swear I was Japanese in a previous life. Some of these feel so familiar. Also, Kappa are real!
