I dont agree on the part about train tracks (not in use) not affecting property value, thats subjective. Even if you convince yourself to buy it in the long run you have to convince yourself to tune that thought out. And when you decide to sell it you have to hope your buyer has same train of thought. Pros: discount, less offers, get more for your money. Cons: you are inheriting someone else's problem.
