Came with the car so I’m not sure where exactly it was purchased. Its a Sony head unit with carplay. Theres newer ones out there now that have better screens that i would look into.

No, its the original Steering Wheel. C6 have a 3 Spoke Wheel, C5 have a 4 Spoke Wheel.

Sorry I didn’t get a notification for your comment but I’m pretty sure it’s the original style C5 wheel. Just aftermarket.

I would check the harmonic balancer, make sure theres no wobble, might as well check the other pulleys and belt. Go check the battery tray area for signs of battery acid leaking (since all harnesses are below the battery tray you dont want battery acid getting down there and messing up electronics), I would check for rust if youre in a area where rust is common. Other than that I would say to check your general things like fluid leaks and checking the fluid levels. For me checking fluid levels can be a possible sign that the car hasnt been maintained well if the levels are low. I would also test drive the car and get a feel for the transmission. If its a unmodified manual, expect it to be pretty notchy but it shouldnt grind or pop or make much noise, make sure it goes into the gears nicely. Just make sure to get it all the way in if its a stock box. Get a feel for it while you hold the clutch pedal down. Thats about all i can think of atm. Hope this helps. 🤝

I have a 2000 C5 sickspeed. I had it checked out buy a trusted mechanic and I was lucky the two previous owners took very good care of it I drive it all the time it's stock except for a borla Cat-Back enjoy your ride they are meant to be driven!

It has a MagnaFlow Performance exhaust but mufflers and midpipe cut. Also has an X pipe. Everything is cut its what i refer to as a CA straight pipe lol.

No not really, but in 2001 they fixed a issue with the torque tube I believe. dont quote me on that but it was a big enough change for me to get a 2001 instead of older

Look up “C5 corvette buyers guide” on youtube and watch as many as you can. They all go into depth about the things that were changed. In short though, yes 2001-2004 will be the best years and usually the least “problematic”.

the issue with C5s from early years, 97-00 is usually the EBCM failing and not being serviceable (lose traction control and ABS, not that you really need those things), however I own a 97 and it has over 130,000 miles and works perfectly still knock on wood.

@yisyerry yeah same but C1 and C8's are not ugly though... they just look different. C1 just looks like a classic car, which is fine. C2 looks great also, but C3 is when they implemented that "corvette" body and styling that you can see all the way to the C8.

Lots of autos out there. Pretty easy to see what vettes have been maintained and which ones have been abused. Huge price gap on them too from what I’ve seen a base C5 can go anywhere from 8-~23k. Also depends if you buy privately or from a dealer. Good luck with your purchase tho. 💪

@@yisyerry ep. I've done a bunch of stuff like for instance I put additional seat bladders into the original seats making them grip me tighter. Changing the actuators in the middle of the dash wasn't really that bad. You can't have the pass side blowing hot when you have the A/c on! I have subscribed so I'll be following your build. Jim

Thanks for the input I appreciate that. 🤝😂 and tbh you can find these things as low as 8-10k but usually will require work and be higher mileage and probably even salvage title. Mine is a super clean low mileage, its loaded and has a manual. Usually these options tend to make these C5 more expensive. Id look around to see what options you want and find which will be right for you. As for my car I paid in the 20’s. So it shouldnt be too crazy finding one in your budget but finding one with the exact options you want is the challenge. Took me 2 years of off and on searching. Ill be sure to cover this stuff in my next video as well. Thanks for stopping by.

@@yisyerry appreciate the info and that’s what I figured. Same prices as where I’m located as well, personally looking for a clean low miles with a stick. So I figured high teens low twenties for one. I know the 01-04 years are the more desirable ones so I’ve been keeping an eye out for those, but wouldn’t be a deal breaker for an earlier model as well.

⁠​⁠@@Broweanyeah you shouldnt have too hard of a time then really. But definitely good to have patience for these kinds of things. And yeah 01-04 are definitely more desirable. Personally i would try sticking with these years or even 02-04. Only because issues that earlier models have had are pretty much fixed. And i believe anything pre-2000 has a different type of smog as well. Good luck with finding your C5 👍

@@yisyerry I made my cold air. Recipe: buy a used license plate filler, trim out the center and epoxy in stainless wire mesh. Spray flat black. Use a Vararam bridge. Install K&N (or round filter of your choice, go as long as you can.) I added aero “fences” also and made an open top box for the filter to sit in, isolating the filter from the engine compartment with the hood closed. I used clear Lexan sheet and trimmed it to bend out towards the fenders and gather all the air from the license plate area to “funnel” it into the filter. Kinda hard to describe without a pic. I spent roughly $120 including the filter in all and it makes a big difference when the weather cools down and the speeds go up, I promise! 😎

Nice, you almost never see the verts in manual. And i believe its all factory sizing for wheels and tires. Idk the exact specs of the wheels as they were already on the car.

I was going to buy a C6 Z06 and then my car crossed my path. I couldn't pass it up. Now it has 400 to the tire and passes just about everything!

I was looking at a C6 GS LS3. Ultimately went with a C5 tho. But yeah im going to be making big power in the C5 eventually. 😂
