Created Things - The Audience Crisis
It seems like more and more stories are being reported of rowdy audiences ruining theatrical performances with drunken fighting and… *adult behavior*. Are producers to be believed that this signals a post-pandemic crisis of ornery audiences? Is this the end of art as we know it?? ARE WE BEING MELODRAMATIC???

Created Things - The Art Aquatic with Jacob and Father Gabriel
This episode felt so Chestertonic in spirit to me for some reason snd I don't know exactly why, but anyway... such a cool created thing it is! ✨️
So... the true symbolism of "Where is Nemo" movie is the journey of a Catholic scared of heresy person woth no sense of humour trying to find Saint Nemo and stop heresy? /s
I finally understood from where baroque baby angels came from. They always freaked me out. Thank you for this amazing conversation! I learn something new about art and faith with every episode of this podcast, it's great!
I've never really look deeper into the topic of relics. This conversation made me think about them and actually feel the importance of them. Thank you so much for all the wise things said on this podcast!
This podcast helped me so much, thank you! God bless!
You are talking about the MPS: Mittelalterliches Spektakulum.
What exactly is "fascinating" about a perverse "queer reading" of a song? 41:00 And what is so good about believing that "sin" is acceptable as long as one enjoys it? And what does queerism have to do with the "beauty" of "medieval" culture? "If this is sin then I shall never repent." This woman knows absolutely nothing about medieval culture much less St. HIldegard Von Bingen. She even claimed that "Unitarianism" was an introduction to Christianity... She mentioned "The Last Duel" (1:10:50) as a reference point to medieval culture... WHAT A JOKE! This is what is wrong with Catholicism today, the Catholic priest (Dominican?) just silently sat there listening to nonsense and stupidly nodding his head. Then when he spoke about it later on (around 1:05:30), he was too scared to simply CORRECT the woman by telling her that she perpetuates an imagined view of medieval culture that is GROSSLY INACCURATE... This is the typical cowardice and adulation in the face of perversity and lies. Post-Modern Hegelian-Ultra-Anthropocentric nonsense wins out everywhere, today. Why not reference the reality of the INCARNATION and its centrifugal role in medieval values and culture? The woman uses St. Hildegard's name and yet God (Jesus Christ) was not mentioned even once in reference to medieval life. Queerism? "The Last Duel"?? Me Too Movement? Give me a break. That has nothing to do with medieval society. What a disgrace to St. Hildegard and everything she dedicated her life to!
I am so happy you mentioned Vox Vulgaris, as I was using it back in 2012 to create the mood for a pirate novel I was writing at that time.
Ridiculously underrated podcast. Keep up the good work!
Bad Cosby impressions?
This is such a lovely and important thing to discuss. Thank you!

Always a joy when another Created things comes out!
Hey guys! Keep it up, we are still listening! I love your conversations to the fullest!
I’m far too uncultured to follow most of what is going on or most of the names being mentioned but I like Hildegard’s songs 😵💫😅 Edit: 45 min in. I’m really glad I stuck with this. As a Traditional Catholic myself I found it to be very enriching. In an unexpected way, it has allowed me to more deeply appreciate the level of thought, genius, talent, and creativity it takes to produce medieval-themed music, whether in The Church or in the world. And it’s amazing how much it is all integrally tied - to history and culture. Like how folk music is descended from medieval music. That’s fascinating. I’d love to learn more. Subscribed 😁
probally Yeoman Middle English fusion for Young Man
No it isn't
@@Dave-ks9fi thanks.
I would love to hear snippets of these WIP songs that didn't end up working for the conversion. Imo the behind-the-scenes content is just as interesting as the finished products
One thing that irritates me is that couple who "translate" songs into "old English", both with no respect for an actual cadence of a song and with no respect for actual historical accuracy. One would have been interesting, both phenomenal. Neither is disorienting and annoying. That's why I like bardcore, now if you put ye in every sentence I'm still gonna be annoyed but at least you're still making music. Like I listen to Jolyene and house of the rising sun from Hildegard all the time
Yeah Hildegard! Please make more Epic videos
Thanks again you two, this was so much fun! (Also oops: I mistakenly claimed the lockdown began in 2019, which is a year too early.) 😅 Anyways, it was a blast discussing Chaucer and Weird Al in the same breath.
You're not fully wrong, the first strains were discovered at the end of 2019
The Chieftain's "Santiago" is great in showing the music of Galicia and following it and the people to the new world. My family came from Ireland and moved through the Blue hills and followed the direction blue grass and folk came from and following all these musical journeys is fascinating
Huh, I live close to where the Spektakulum takes place, but friends have always warned me it wasn’t worth it. Guess I’ll give it a try after all
I imagine to locals it could feel pretty different, but we have nothing like it in BC, so it blew my mind. 😂
I was tattooed by his youngest son Nizar in Jerusalem just yesterday. I love it!
This episode was a long time coming
VeggieTales references! Oh yeah! Hippo Anniversary!
I was tattooed by Wassim this year and my son was tattooed by one of Wassim's sons on a recent trip to Jerusalem. We documented it on my YT channel where we talked cars and motorcycles while getting tattoos. It was a great experience and Wassim and his sons were awesome guys to meet and talk with.
I definitely will go to his shop to get a tattoo to commemorate my trip to the holy land and being Catholic I have several religious tattoos three are a cross with Jesus’s face inside the virgin de Guadeloupe and the arch angel saint Michael
Snow White & the 12 Apostles: The better movie. In seriousness, St. Stephen's, Oil City, PA, has 2 excellent stained glass windows of The Assumption. This year I also found an awesome Arabic icon of The Dormition; so I saved it to my phone.
So.. if I paint a mural on the side of my house, with out my husband's permission... is it graffiti or just fun?
Both. Definitely both.
Candles, combined with State Art = Smokey Bear telling you to look out for wildfires.
Living in Ohio, had no idea but we have "World Class" Diet Candles made here. Ok, ok, they're regular candles, all the calories. Candle-lite is headquartered in Leesburg (Highland County). I only found out about them watching an episode of _The Price is Right_ for there was a game guessing the price of one their candles.
Most assuredly, silk worms are blue and libertarian. I can confirm.
Hippo Fathers' Day. Interestingly enough, it falls on Corpus Christi this year; it's quite fitting.
This rocks.
p̲r̲o̲m̲o̲s̲m̲ 👌
excellent conversation that we are invited to eavesdrop into! I never actually thought of relics as creepy until this conversation, BUT... here we are moved right into creepy and back out again! I loved the thought that "we had one pot of grace, and cut the body apart, now we have 2, or 3 or as many as we break it up into!" We have all the whole pots! I was gifted 2 relics as a dear friend was leaving this earthly life and really didn't know how to reverence them in my home... but have a much better idea now. Thank you.
This is an excellent exploration of parade as an art form. Too often it is not viewed as an art form, but they always call in the artist to design the floats! I set up many floats for our Pro-Life group, Dressed in a cardboard box as a gift! We have even joined a fire department parade last minute with kayaks on a trailer dressed up as water and 2 happy kids waving from the waves!
Excellent Podcast. I have been a part of Catholic Creatives for a couple of years now, not really sure that I fit. Finding this podcast, this channel tells me that I am right where I need to be. (And Father, you are Very Creative! Your art may not be visual, but is uniquely important!)
I'm only here for the coat.
