Privileged background shit aside, as a guy from South-East Asia with low social intelligence, bad at sensing social cues, and troubles dealing with one's emotions, allong with growing up in an environment where societal expectation and overbearing conformity/filial piety is somewhat of the norm, this show really did a good job in representing what it's like to be a constant target of bullying, ridicule and judgement back at school, and I put myself in Fred's shoes a lot. Too bad that this show's intention is to have us audience to be the bullies and ridicule Fred instead...

They tried so hard to make us hate him but he is seriously the best character in the show. He has a realistic reason why he behaves this way (he's rich and his parents aren't the best), he makes some of the best jokes in the show, and he is basically the only person who had any semblance of a character development.

The writers: "We're so progressive!" Also the writers: "Let's body shame and make fun of the genitalia of a minor because he's white."
