I built something I didn't want to, and utterly lov....hated it! Build a lamp they said, it will be fun they said. I happily got tricked into building a lamp in a lampalong (#NCMlampalong) hosted by the very same podcast I'm co-hosting. As an added dimension, we the hosts, deceided to edit eachother's videos. So this video is actually edited by Glenn over at @No1projects

I'm not much of a competitive soul, but when I saw the trend of putting padlocks on for love has reach our local bridge, well - There can be only one! (Did I get to use a Highlander reference there? Yes, yes I did) This is though the extended build video, for those very few that might....no, I don't even think anyone really want to. But here it is! I just bought a new grinder myself - which I intend to use for almost anything except coffee, but my parents will appreciate freshly ground coffee when they visit, so it was really more a purchase for them than me, lol. My dad would get a huge kick out of this!
Noooooooo! Let Christine live!
Why did you do this? Does someone need to supervise you? Did you do this because no one was supervising?
The first question is a bit tricky, but on the following two: "Very much yes!"
I need one of those 😂
We all do 😆
Well done Glen on the edit! Medium done to Haavard on the lamp 😂😂
I'll take medium any day of the week 😂
😅
Kinda funny with you guys editing each others' videos, haha. I can relate to the build: "Welp, messed that up. And I messed that up, too." But then the end result is pretty cool - sorta weird-looking, but very cool!
I'd stop at weird 😆 Yeah, editing someone else's video was fun, but also not something I'll make into a occupation 😄
Odd looking but great lamp. I think powering through projects you don't enjoy builds character.😂 Also some great singing.🤣🤣
Thanks, yes the singing might be a highlight. I did ramble on a bit about powering through, but that was cut out by the editor - rightfully so I might add 😆
Great Build Haavard. Looks very modern.
Thank you. It turned out better than I expected during the process :D
I think the lamp looks good mate ,but I think I'll leave your edits to you in the future and my edits to KJ 😂
😂
I like it! It's like a combination of steam-punk and Art-Deco.😉 I find it interesting that even when you're doing a project you don't really want to do, you are able to create a success out of it. If I were going to change anything, I might replace the toggle switch with a Bakelite switch of some kind, to accentuate the steam-punk vibe. Still looking forward to the 5-speed, super-charged combo coffee grinder/kettle/coffeemaker. With 4-wheel drive. And nitrous.😁
YES, a rotating bakelite switch - brilliant idea! That was the biggest challenge, really pushing through a project you really don't "feel". Talking about feeling, the coffee grinder has got a lot of progress the last two days. I am now waiting for the painted frame tp dry before I can start assembling it 😁
@@behindthemistakes Don't forget the flame decals to make it "go faster"!🤣
I really enjoyed watching your struggle , and the result is very good 😀
After all it came out rather nice. Good work powering through the lack of energy!
Der blev lys! 🎉
Noice. Another fun project. I must say, I prefer your editing to Glens. Sorry Glen
No worries mate 👍
😂😂😂😂 "sing along Glen" 👏👏👏
😂 I wasn't sure he'd sing along, but he did!
It needs a 5-speed gearbox, doesn't it? I mean, you're going to want different grinds, right?
That might be the 2.0, that also has a integrated kettle for boiling water :D
I can't wait to see this!!!
Not long now :D Premieres in just few minutes
Nice clock 🙂
Thank you! I made it right on time as well!
Not Christine!! Although this is a great argument for getting bigger workshop:-D
Yes, it is. Sad to see her go though, but still I'm clinging on to the hope of finding more room haha.
The Course of Christine is real!
Yeah, still got a nerve damage in my thumb after that build...

At what point is it more economic to treat this project more like a midi controlled mini pipe organ? Just cut pvc tubes to leingth Nicholas Bras style and limit the air pressure at the inlet hole for the ones that need less air. It would be really cool to have the tops of the pipes sticking out the top like a pipe organ as well, maybe put the bellows on the sides of the cabinet just to show off the complexity of the device. I love your work and am excited to watch this channel grow!
The most economic would of course be to never have started, but here we are 😂 PVC pipes would have been a good alternative, but then it would not have been The Hellcorder 😄 Yes, the bellows need to be shown. I start to think I have an idea for the design as well.
Whoa, the sound of that foam going in the locks - sounds delicious!! Now I want a chocolate milkshake. Also, I knew at the end to look for the person giving you a ticket, hehe.
Haha, are you actually watching it? :D I just uploaded it to get it off my table so to speak haha. Yeah, that foam sound is oddly enjoyable.
Yes, I watched the whole thing! Well, I will say I didn't pay super close attention and was crocheting the whole time, but I let it play in its entirety!
Thank you, and crocheting is a very good UA-cam accompanying activity :D
Sorry, I missed about half of what you said because I couldn't stop looking at that smiley face gear on the wall, lol.
Oh, Wilson you mean? Yeah, he's nice 😄
You need to get a lathe 😉 Always fun to follow your projects!
I do need that, and I think someone has mentioned it before also 😂
I love it when a plan comes together!😁
Me too, but we're not at the finish line yet 😅
"If it's worth doing, it's worth OVERdoing!"
Haha, yes. I forgot I had this long format video, so I just uploaded it - a bit overdue haha.
but is it still there?
Oh no, that's long gone I'm afraid 🥺
@@behindthemistakes how dare they remove such a magnificent lock!
Oh no... Now he goes to prison... According to Scandinavian police/politician hypocrisy, that is now a "deadly weapon"... It can destroy plastic cups!!! Definitely a weapon. Very dangerous! Very illegal! 😆 And holy shit you even manufactured it.. Didnt just buy it. You're like "organised crime" now
I did not think of that, but I am now a weapons manufacturer. The only way to stay out of jail is a gouvernmental contract with the military, then it should be ok. I am now going to be to the weapons industry what Pfizer is to Big Pharma 😯
@@behindthemistakes 😂😂😂
I also make slingshots but I do it the old fashioned way. With a bandsaw, then route it to round it off. The nephews like them and the home made swords and shields. I don’t make my swords too pointy because, well boys will be boys. My first projectile “toy” was a slingshot before I was old enough to have a pellet gun. I’m the cool uncle that never really grew up so I make stuff I would have wanted. I don’t provide them the ammo I shoot which is 3/8” steel ball bearings. They have to shoot rocks like I did as a kid.
Rocks work fine if I remember correctly 😂 And yes, I could possibly have made this even faster on the bandsaw actually 😄
Now THAT'S a banana for scale! Doubles as a handy blunt instrument for those times when you encounter road ragers while out driving your John Deere tractor!
Like Donkey Kong on a mini tractor 😂
Well, this was a fun little project. Anything can be a toy until it hurts somebody. Pretty much!
It's all fun and games until someone's eye gets hurt was what our generation were told 😂
Hilarious little art piece 😂
toys are fun slingshots are fun toys are slingshots i think that is how definitions work right?
My reasoning too :D Everything can be a toy I guess...?
Great Video Haavard. I like the ‘toy’
Thank you! Reliving a childhood dream :D
I'm hunted by birds do to my long curly hair for nesting material, i took revenge with a slingshot and frozen chicken nuggets. 😂 Nice video thanks for sharing.
Frozen chicken nuggets...that was new 😂
@behindthemistakes I take my revenge like I drink my liquor. in one cruel gulp. Just kidding 😂
But if you shoot marbles with it, wich is a toy. Wouldn't it become more of a toy?
It must be. I mean, that's just double the toyness right? 🤔
Nicely done! I thought you were shooting uncracked hazel nuts - I wonder if they would be better or worse than the ones you used...
Good question. I will investigate 😄
That is a very nice toy 😅
It sure is. Will have a lot of fun with it until I run out of Hazel nuts 😂
It's GOT to be a toy if the ammunition is edible!🙃 Living in Alberta, Canada the scenery seems rather familiar... Although, the area around Edmonton is as flat as the proverbial pancake whereas you have exciting hills which must be so much fun in the winter (especially when you try to make your winter tires last one more year!) Interesting design. The ones I remember my older brother making used the traditional Y-shaped tree branch...and the rubber tubes from one of my Dad's stethoscopes! Yeah, he kind of got into trouble for that. Something about "Do you know how much it costs to replace those?". Luckily I was on the periphery of that particular storm!
Haha, that's the best argument so far. Edible ammunition MUST be a toy! Well, yes, using a stethoscope for the rubber band I can understand was not received very well by the owner. Rubber bands was very sought after in my days, especially the really good ones. Same with winter tires. I am cheap, so I use all season tires, which is bad on winter and summer equally, but I just drive slow haha.
So, how about you talk to the squirrels and get them to join in. Have them line up on the snowbank. Then, you shoot hazelnuts in their direction and they must scramble to catch them before they vanish in the drift. That way, it becomes a fun winter wildlife conservation activity and you can apply for funding from the EU; or, as Norway isn't a member state, directly to Klima- og miljødepartementet. Once it's an officially funded state environmental project, they can't pull you up on the toy/lethal weapon ambiguity. That would just be splitting legal hairs. Of course the first thing you need to do is train the squirrels. But once you've overcome that hurdle...See? Easy! 😄
Well, If I were to hit them I would have them being in on it and jump in front of the nuts, as I obviously cant hit a bus from the inside! I really like your take on the funding part. I am pretty sure squirrels are protected and maybe even endangered, so a hand propellant feeding system might be very fundable. Looking at all the other project that gets funding, this should not be any less a contender...😂
The catapult looked very cool , nice vid H ,get some more target practice though 😅
What do you mean? Did you not see how I masterfully spared those party cups? 😂
Well, if the law doesn't actually define "harmless object" or "toy" then I think you're good to go (up until the point that a cop drops his hand very heavily on your shoulder, points to the place on the patrol car where a ball bearing has traveled through the windshield AND the rear window and says the Norwegian equivalent of "you're nicked!"
Exactly :D Although, they have in other regulations, tried to define "toy" - shich is funny to read 😅
I did not know hmm
You learn something every day :D
good luck on this cool project!
Thank you, I need it! 😄
Whaaaaaaaat? This isn’t a slingshot! It’s a wrist-rocket! (this is actually a legally distinct term in the state of Massachusetts where “slingshots” are perfectly legal, but aren’t if they have the wrist support)
Well, I would have thought those two were the same thing 😂
@@behindthemistakes my state makes the same distinction between “slingshots” and “wrist rockets”.
A wrist rocket should be that, a rocket 😂
@@behindthemistakes that would probably be legal here though, America is kinda weird
Oh noooooooo, lol. Also, I think I learned a Norwegian word!
You learn something every day 🤣
I didn't know they were illegal in Norway, but it doesn't surprise me as I know they are illegal here. Had to make one a couple of years back. To get a line up in a tree so that I could get my DLG down from it. 😅
Then it's a tool, isn't it? 😆
Yes, an illegal tool. 🙈 But, it f'in worked! 😁
That Yamaha sponsor idea wasn't half bad. 😊 You could always try to reach out to them... Welcome to hell year three 🎉
Yes i do. Got fined 500kr for importing one in 1996 😬
Oh noooo, but, did you argue it was a "toy"? 😂
and 500kr in '96 is like a billion in today's money 😮
Hahaha With sights and an armrest I didnt have the nerve 🤣
😂 Hard to argue that one
