i’m like, a big fan of coffee.
19grams Coffee Advent Calendar
With the holidays coming up, it's time to start counting down. Christmas is my favorite time of year, and around October when the leaves start to fall, I start dreaming about the snowy, cold days. And what better way than to count down with coffee?
The 19grams Coffee Advent Calendar comes with 24x50gr airtight tins, filled with freshly roasted coffee from all over the world. China, Burundi, Myanmar, and many more. 24 different farms with 24 origins. It's the perfect way to count down to Christmas.
This beautiful video & edit is made by my dear friend Axel Happel.

Trying out the Outin Nano (portable) Espresso Machine

Heya!!! Outin reached out to me and offered me their product to try out and review. A self-heating, light weight, 2-1 coffee method, portable, espresso machine that looks pretty? Say no more. After trying it out the second it got delivered to my doorstep, I was amazed by this product. But, I think with all the 'wow's' I mention in the video you'll see that for yourself. You can get yours with 1...

a week with the la marzocco pico

Hiya!! I had the privilege to try out the new La Marzocco Pico home grinder for a week, to see if it would fit me. And who would I be if I wouldn't take you through the week with me? In this video, I'm going to try out dialing in, single-dosing, and focus on subjects such like retention. I'm also making a comparison between the Mahlkonig X54 (that I already had) and the La Marzocco Pico. Will I...

hi peeps, welcome to my first youtube video. in this video i introduce myself a little bit but mostly my coffee corner. enjoy :)
Oeeeh een Nederlands koffiekanaal? Gelijk geabonneerd :) Edit: en zie nu op je insta dat je bij Single Estate werkt, heel vet, erg te spreken over hun koffie's
With default basket there is no spraying :) and thks by the way showing this moving thingie button to get less retention, have totally missed it
This grinder is currently sold on Mazzer's website for 995 EUR
I cannot believe I'm considering this for home use. Time for the end game!
Nice video. I have one question. I like your tamper. Where can I get one of these?
It’s from Mhw 3-bomber
How did you get the ground size from the first try?
@@7amadexplains477 With a LOT of luck, actually!
Rustgevend 😌
First
It seems like the price is about 1k euro if order on mazzer's website? I am thinking about purchase one for my flair and search for reviews, and surprised find you from Single Estate. Sometimes I go there for beans. Thanks for your video!
Off topic but I'm curious, what does the left arm tattoo say? If I may ask?
it says ‘experience’!
@@nietroeren the other arm?
The "mind going in places" is exactly what makes you fun to watch. Please don't change that.
Thank you so much :)
You sound like you will be a great owner of a coffee shop! I think I would be successful if you were my boss. The end of this video where you express so much about yourself was great.
Thanks!!! Greatly appreciated!
The algorithm recommend a recent video from you but seeing that this is a relatively new channel with a smaller follower count I decided to start here. Watching for the states I thought I should get more coffee insights from across the pond and from a less professional long standing insider prospective. Looking forward to seeing how this evolves.
When about filter like coffee I always use V60. With this video I got curious to try ‘origami’ as well.
@@eduarddamatar7770 Try them next to each other and compare the flavor differences! It’ll be a fun experiment.
Thanks very much for this video! It's very interesting! I think you convinced me on for the Philos 🎉 I have maybe a question on the micra, are you missing the flow control on this machine and how annoying is the app? Thanks a lot!
@@jonathus48 The app is great! I often scare my roommate by turning the machine on when I’m not home yet 😂 It’s very easy to work with and always connects. I don’t miss flow control at all! But I’ve never really used it so it’s not something I’d miss at all. Hope that helps! And congrats on your choice for the Philos! It’s a great one.
if you want to use the smaller dosing cup you can try to add a spray of water to the beans or 1-2 times with wet finger and shaking...it will reducing static and thus the spray ._ ) have a nice day!
@@alegend2k You too!
Nice... it pairs well with the Micra. I ended up getting the EtzMAX LM in black for my Micra, which has a lot of similarity to the Pico, but has a built in Acaia scale, so using the hopper becomes even more practical and further speeds up the work flow.
Also nice!
Good to see your review. ive had my Philos (UK) a while now and love it. Made me smile when you removed the handle designed to be used to remove the casing for cleaning. On the other hand I love your honesty leaving it in and not editing it out. good luck with your journey.
Thanks so much for your nice response! Have a wonderful day.
How loud would you say it is? I currently have a Baratza 270wi. Was thinking about getting like a Eureka Libra or Eureka w65, or Fiorenzato all ground sense. But many say single dose is better. If the loudness is same as my Baratza, I definitely don’t want it.
I don’t know how loud the Barazza is. All I can say is it’s louder than all home grinders I’ve had & tested so far… The La Marzocco Pico is also created for single dosing & is way less loud.
Happy Birthday!
Thank you!
This beautiful accent is killing me 🫠
Love the video! Thanks for making this content ☺️
Sad it doesn't fit in the Micra portafilter and super odd.
Yeah, right… I thought the same!
Regarding the grind time, it probably makes no difference when making milk drinks. When you drop the beans, you can get and pour the milk. No time wasted! Also, beware fast grinding with smaller (64mm) burrs. That will cause backups and regrinding, creating more fines. For faster grinding, get a grinder with bigger burrs, but not a cheap one. The bigger the burr diameter, the more important the alignment and stability.
What burrs do you have and have you tried pour over with it
19:34 here you can see the burrs. Seem to be the 200D. On the Mazzer Homepage there are pictures of both burr sets.
Hi! It's the 189D burrs. I have tried pour over with it! I also mentioned it in my video, but I didn't make any videos of it. The grind was course enough for filter, and definitely better in comparison to the Pico - the coarsest setting on the Pico is still too fine to make a proper pour over. For the Mazzer, it's great.
This grinder can be bought for €995 directly from Mazzer. Also what burrs did you use?
19:34 here you can see the burrs. Seem to be the 200D. On the Mazzer Homepage there are pictures of both burr sets.
@@svenbayer4351i see, it’s the 200’s. I just order mine with the 189’s :)
It's the 189D burrs!
@@ThomasPokerNLcongratulation for your choice and your decission. The 189 are the ones I would (will?) go for either 🙂👍
@@nietroerenThanks for the answer! I thought the grinding discs, which you can see at the time stamp mentioned, clearly look like the 200D. But you will know it better, because you used it👍 I'll try to link the Mazzer Homepage anyway in a separate reply (because I guess, YT deleted my last reply, which included that link)... But please have a look by yourself on the pics of the burrs on the Mazzer HP. Anyway - I liked your video very much.👍
Mazzer itself directly on their page is selling it for € 995,- for the next couple of weeks.
Not sure you mentioned, is it 200D or 189D burr?
19:34 here you can see the burrs. Seem to be the 200D. On the Mazzer Homepage there are pictures of both burr sets.
as per @svenbayer4351 they are the i200D burrs fitted.
Hi! It's the 189D burr.
Nice video, thanks! Just a couple of comments: You keep referring to the price tag of the grinder as Eur 1,400 but it’s actually Eur 995 directly from Mazzer. 2nd,Which Burrs do you have? 3rd, It’s a catch cup not a basket! 😜
19:34 here you can see the burrs. Seem to be the 200D. On the Mazzer Homepage there are pictures of both burr sets.
Also, guys!!! I just wanna add that Mazzer slowed down the grind speed to improve consistency. That shows, because it is very consistent. So there’s that little piece of knowledge for you.
And yes, I know I said “professional and espresso home machines”. Don’t judge me.
Thank you. Interesting to hear your opinion. Happy birthday. Using the provided cup will stop all the chaff. Mazzer earth that bottom plate and the magnets hold it in place. I laughed when you removed the handle 😀
Thank you! Sometimes I think it’d be wiser for me to do a little research first but I like diving in to prevent these things from happening, but I’m glad I made you laugh, haha! That’s a better outcome.
Thank you for this video! would you say its better than the Niche Zero? - I primarily have medium/dark roast espressos
I don’t have any personal experience with the Niche Zero, but completely based on factual specs, yes, it is better.
Mazzer Philos is better in almost al aspects, Niche offered something unique when it came out, but the market really changed since. Mazzer Philos has a great built, great burrs and the workflow (which was Niche's strongest point when it came out) is also good. It is more expensive however.
Niet roeren!!!!!!!!
My lord this was painful to watch.
@@minantraXOX glad you’re so inspiring!
What does it grind better espresso or for pour over? Or is it meant for espresso only with stock burrs?
@@michaeldietzen8613 It works for both because of the varying grind sizes, however I personally loved it more for espresso because of the spraying when grinder coarser.
If you like this, wait till you use their Espresso Machine Basket Plus add-on for a delicious double shot (18g).
Now I’m curious!
Is it possible to preinfuse?
I am actually not sure! I’ll check.
Bought one last week and find it really useful. I have a bean to cup m/c for my daily espressos; this was for when I'm away from the house. Also found my favourite coffee in pods and they're great! In fact, I'll probably end up using it at home as it's easier to try different coffees than my bean2cup. I chose the red model - it's more pink than red, but ensures I don't leave it lying around...
Love to hear that! Great that you found a way to try more coffees.
You should bring it on your bike tours!
Great idea!!
I like the realness in your video’s 👌🏼
Thanks! 😁
So what is your professional opinion about the pico for home use? I just ordered the linea micra and the pico looks like it could be a great grinder to pair with it
For me it has made making coffee at home (even more) enjoyable because it’s so easy to use and so versatile in grind sizes. It’s quiet, zero retention - everything you need in a grinder. And it looks pretty too!
@@nietroerenthe quiet factor is a big deal 😊
I'd like to see you review a Ceado next, and then compare with the DF64 and Pico.
that would be cool! need to get my hands on one.
I love your coffee content, especially this video! I’m interested in discussing a potential collaboration with you. Could you please let me know the best way to get in touch with you?
hi, you can contact me on instagram @nietroeren.
Ik heb de Varia vs3 gen 2. Top molen geen retentie ook zonder balg. Iets goedkoper… Ook een conical grinder.
ook een goeie, moet ik een keer gaan testen!
Is that a SCA certificate on the wall?
yes, it is!
@@nietroerenWoww you should post a video about it. I'm sure others would love to hear about it more
what would you like to know?
@@nietroerenwhat level was it, where'd you do it, how was the overall experience and how'd you prepare for it because I plan on doing it but there aren't any courses near me
So nice to see a review that feels so personal instead of sounding like someone is trying to sell me something.
Thanks! I love hearing that. I felt the same way when watching UA-cam videos, so I’m glad I can offer a different view.
Nice coffee corner 👍👍👍👍
Have you ever used a Mazzer Mini? If so, how would you rate it compared to this? Im considering a Mazzer Mini Electronic B vs the Pico! 😀
hi. i haven’t, sorry!
Too noisy
I’m glad you share your opinion!
39mm conical burr grinder cost 1000+ is unacceptable. Fellow Ode costs 300-400 dollars is generous to come with 64mm flat burr.
Obviously you don’t just pay for only the conical burr. You pay for the durability, for knowledge, for the whole design, for everything La Marzocco has to offer that other brands might not have or have less. I feel like everyone can have their own opinion about pricing or whatever, but in the end I think it’s worth it and that’s why I bought it. Doesn’t mean anyone else has to.
@@nietroerenGlad you like it!
