His performances for Chelsea towards the end of the season were exemplary. He played like a sweeper, nipping out to steal the ball away from attackers and shadowing his own players. I like to think this old-fashioned position could make a comeback as it is the perfect foil against the Guardiolas and Artetas and teams like Spain playing through the lines. For course that depends on the quality of the sweeper. He is very good at it.
