Bet you didn't know this!!! (quick fire trick) (emergency candle) #short #survival #candle

A quick SHORT video on how to make an emergency candle.
Blade has too many TPI - you need a carbide tip pruning blade. Also, aluminum is too soft to support the amount of leveraged weight on the "tool" - you either need a different material, thicker walled tubing, or a collar. I respect the attempt, but it wasn't well thought out and I disagree with your conclusion.
I appreciate your feedback, and I agree with most of what you said. The idea was to use what I had laying around, and not what could be purchased. Truth is the saw was made up of mostly things I found on the ground around my neighborhood. I wanted to make it as realistic as possible. I’m actually really shocked with the results from nothing more than “trash.” It shows that any thing is possible in a survival situation. Thanks for watching the video.
@@BillyInTheBush I don't think it's the TPI that's the issue, but more of the teeth type. This one looks like a masonry saw blade aka hollow brick saw blade, not a wood-cutting / pruning blade. But yeah like you said, it's what you had lying around so great video anyway.
Simply elegant, the way Bushcraft should be. Great idea.
Thank you very much!
Gotta love Flint and Steel Bro! 😝🤘💥💥💥💥🔥🔥🔥🪨🪨🪨 just subbed ya billy. thanks from New Zealand 🌏🌏🌏🌿🌿🌿😁👍👏👏👏
Glad you enjoyed the video!
This is the best tutorial on how to get tetanus I have ever seen! 😂 Seriously though, cool saw!
Thank you!!! Glad you enjoyed it.
great video! For line you could try multiple strands of spiderwire fishing line that has no stretch.
Thank you!!! I haven’t heard of that, but I will definitely check it out. Thanks for the info!!
Try using a churchkey bottle opener to make your next one. Way easier and much safer. Plus a churchkey is pretty easy to keep on you if you’re camping or a shtf scenario
I actually couldn’t find mine before the video. And of course it shows up after I was done. lol
I just learned how to make it and just learned how to use flint and steel
That’s is awesome!!! Thank you for watching!!!
Flatten one end of the mop handle and use 2 screws and wing nuts. You may need to drill extra holes in the saw blade, but it'll hold. Easy take down saw. If the handle is big enough you can use it to extra blades. 👍
That’s a really good idea!!!
What background music is that? Sounds link some Hymn!
I don’t remember of hand. It was something I got from the UA-cam free music Library. I will find it again, and get back to you.
Awesome and well done brother Billy! I made it smooth by rubbing to the concrete walls....it took me almost an hour for just one edge done...lol Blessings from India!
Thank you!!! I’m glad you like the video, and where able to benefit from it.
Crap
Ok
SO what are you showing us here dear billy ?
I’m showing you that chips make a great emergency tinder source.
Love the music. Reminds me of when I was a child going to church with my grandma
Awesome!!! Glad you like the choice of music. I thought it was fitting.
I live in the south east us quartz is plentiful. I carry a striker and charcloth pretty much 90% of the time when I leave home..because you never know
That’s awesome!!! It’s definitely a good practice to have.
@@BillyInTheBush Fire is the ultimate survival tool with out it.. you can die!!!
I would have to agree. Without fire your chance of survival goes way down.
Can I use 50 percent cotton t-shirts?
I haven’t tried that, but I imagine it would not work very well. I would stick to 100% cotton, and stay away from blended cotton.
Great ten c kit ! Add a single wall stainless steel bottle just in case the sawyer fails.
Thank you!!! I usual carry one if I go for multiple days.
Informative and beneficial video
Thank you!!! Glad you liked it!!!

Wow bro were do you come up with all this?
Just year of learning all this kind of stuff. Then I kinda do my own twist on it. I follow people like Canterbury, and Cody Lundin. As well as several other pioneers of survival.
The basics of this video where Based off of the 10 c’s of survival. Also I watch a lot of through hikers. So I based it off of what a lot of them take.
Well I must say very well put young man keep up the good work
Thank you so much!!! I try to give people the best info while trying to give the entertainment value. I appreciate your support!!!
I like the first one because how you mangle the crap out of it and then it cut you , had some good entertainment value , second one was way too easy, it look too uniform and didn't have any Jagged edges, no entertainment value at all. They both seem to work well, thank you for your sacrifice God bless you and your family aloha
I’m glad you enjoyed the the video.
Good job! Good information!
Thank you!!! Glad you enjoyed the video!!!
Cool video!
Thank you!!! I’m glad you enjoyed it.
Hey, brother paracord will work but it does stretch, the Dyneema cord, like for"zing-it" throw line for arborists works better. It is a bit more expensive as far as per foot but that stuff is tough as nails and it doesn't stretch. No lie though, what you say about this saw is true, built mine almost two yrs. ago and used a Diablo 12"carbide-tipped blades and so far after much cutting it's still going strong and weighs net to nothing. I'd put this saw against any hand saw out there!!
Dyneema is great stuff, but I didn’t have any available. I would love to make another one with dyneema cord in the future for sure. They work pretty good for sure!!! Thank you for your feedback!!!
Well done Billy.
Thank you!!!
Cool video subbed ya up. Cool place cool camp and good food. Love disperse camping like that goin to be adding camp vids to my channel. Peace brotha HAPPY TRAILS.
Awesome!!! I’d love to check it out.
If it gets to hot to hold then it’s way to hot to make a steel…it shouldn’t get hot at all, keep quenching the metal to keep it from overheating.
Yes you are correct. Thank you for the feedback.
I agree with you, not worth it for 1 oz
Yeah it would definitely work in a pinch, but I still think there a better options out there. It’s still a pretty cool idea, and it was fun to make it. Thank you for watching.
Quartz, jasper, flint, chert, pyrite .rocks and minerals with a hardness of about 6 work well.
Yeah those are all good stones to use. I actually found a a large chunk of chert a couple days after filming this video. I thought it was ironic. Lol Thanks for sharing.
You also don't want to get the steel so hot! as to anneal it. so it looses hardness. Make sure to keep it cooled down well.
You are definitely correct about keeping the metal cool. Getting the steel to hot can distemper it, but it was very unlikely with the tool I used.
I like to make ‘rub cloth’. No fire necessary. Take your cotton material (I like to use gun cleaning patches) and get them wet. Then rub black powder into them. Let them dry, and you’re done. I’ve also used old strings from a mop. Any cotton material will do. They take a spark real easily, and the best part, it smells like firecrackers. 💥
Thank you for the feedback!!! I will definitely try the mop next time! That’s a really good tip. Thank you!!!
@@BillyInTheBush I like the mop strings. They’re thick and long. After you rub in the black powder (and it dries) just roll them into a round (or square) tin. When you need it, just cut off an inch or so, fluff the edge, and it’s ready to go.
I won’t subscribe to a channel if the person doesn’t make fire with flint and steel. 👍🏻 I watched your video on making the car cloth. And that got me to subscribe. This video was a simple and direct demonstration. I liked it too. I made my first flint and steel fire when I was eight years old (1967). My Cub Scout Troop has the fire booth at the Scout-O-Rama. We made fire every half hour for three days. It’s been my go-to fire method ever since.
I like flint and steel too. Although it can be kinda addictive. I’m glad you enjoyed the video, and thank you for subscribing!!!
Thanks Billy, great demo!
I’m glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for watching!!!
😍 P r o m o s m.
Thank you
Looks dank
Thank you!!!
I'd have been impressed if you'd made the flour.. Not really survival food if you're carrying the ingredients with you...
I will take that into consideration next time.
Never seen a ferro rod in slow motion, that was badass!!
Thank you!!!! I never had either. It looks really awesome!!!
The fried version looks so damn good. Reminds me of frybread the natives make on reservations😍😍
I love frybread!!!! It was really good too!!! I would recommend both ways if you wanted to try it.
There go the chickens... Gonna have a pretty pizzed cok
I have a feeling they got away a long time ago. Lol
Tshirts make good char cloth, takes a spark incredibly well but the char is fragile. IMHO the best material that balances between robustness and the ability to catch a spark is denim. Old jeans make the best char cloth, I buy mine from Op-shops, doesn't matter what style or size, I just buy the cheapest 100% cotton jeans they have, usually $5 a pair which makes a whole heap of char cloth.
I would have to agree jeans definitely work best. I also have had better luck rolling the t-shirt up before charging. Thank you for your feedback.
one thing you should mention mate is the file needs to be old, the new ones usually don't spark well as they are only case hardened, old files work best for this application. I also suggest while grinding the file teeth off never get it hot enough so as to ruin the heat treat, I constantly dip mine in water as I grind it, if they get too hot you anneal them and they won't spark.
Those are both very good points. I thought that I had mentioned that about the heat treating. I may have have took that out in the edit. Thank you for the feedback.
Some files now are even plated.
Is not true Orion mate I found a Craftsman file it throws good Sparks
@@tomsmith6094 good for you mate, but that's the exception, not the general rule. Most new files won't throw sparks.
You know it ain't a La Junta video without a fly coming in and getting some cam time!!🤣🤣
Yeah this was done in the summer time, and they where so bad. I was constantly fighting that guy, but it still made it in the video. Lol
Thank you nicely done
Thank you!!! I’m glad you enjoyed the video.
Great little stove my friend. I love the hobo stove and hobo packages in fire pits. Its amazing how well this hobo stuff work 🔥🎉👍
They really are great little stoves, and very affordable too. Lol. Thank you for watching, and I’m glad you enjoyed the video!!!
I like the drill method but if I’m camping I’m most likely going to do the first way because I don’t take a drill with me.
I like that way as well. It was much safer , and also cleaner. But the first one preformed a little better in my opinion, but not much different. Thank you for your feedback I really appreciate it.
Thank you, I love this kind of information🌻
@@TapIntoAlignment Awesome!!! I’m glad you were able to get something out the video. Thank you for watching!!!
I have that same water filter
They are good filters man, and they last forever.
Yes, everyone should have a fire ring in their yard 😎 “Hit the dislike button twice...” LOL- that got me to subscribe. 👍🏻👍🏻
Glad you liked the video!!! And thank you for subscribing!!!
Arctodus Simus do you also have a fire ring?
@@BillyInTheBush I live on 20 acres in South Central Texas. We call it the “Kerrville Wildlife Sanctuary”. I have multiple fire rings here. 👍🏻👍🏻 🔥
That is awesome!!! I’m thinking about redoing my fire pit.
I had an uncle who cooked them with scrambled eggs and onions salt and pepper. As long as the slime was cooked off, I will eat them alone with Chile, lemon salt😋
Yeah when it’s slimy I can see how people would not like them. The way your uncle made them sounds amazing!!!
Chile lemon and salt sounds good too!!!
Good little trip that , and a nice spot to pitch up apart from that big ass spider 🤣
They are all over in my area in late summer/early autumn. People even find them in their front yards. Lol
@@BillyInTheBush video idea lol catch and cook 🤣🤣
Definitely on my list of videos to make. It will be coming up soon.
But not sure if I’d want to eat a spider!!! Lol
@@BillyInTheBush 🤣🤣
Do u soak the dryer lint or just leave it the way it comes out of the dryer?
You can light it just the way it is. Lint is mostly cotton, and cotton is extremely flammable.
I DO wanna see u get a tuna from the cactus 🌵 😋
I definitely am going to look for them when they come back in season.
