Making adjustments to the clutch pedal and readjusting the reverse lockout made it WAY smoother. I think the clutch is great, it's just adjusted really weird stock. And I have the mtech spring as well.

As a GR86 manual UK owner I can attest to some of the clutch/gearbox issues you mention, and it is not an easy car to drive smoothly at lower speeds around town, it does take some skill. The flywheel/clutch is fairly aggressive and seems to want to suck up the revs quite quickly out of 1st and 2nd gear causing jerky shifts, so I find that you need to give more gas during the 1st and 2nd gear changes at lower speeds for a smoother experience and be very smooth with the clutch uptake after the bite at lower speeds. It has honestly taken me months to smoothly shift this car at lower speeds between the first 2/3 gears. At higher speeds it's much better and you can just quickly shift without having to finesse anything.

Im kinda in the same boat as you but with a newborn baby on top but instead of letting of the 86 im letting go of my 2012 a3 wagon and downgrading the daily to my moms old first gen mdx. Couldve bought a new urus or maybach but a guy like me just doesnt like the attention 😪
