Lee J Cobb as a great actor. He portrayed a sob perfectly.
predictable slow but WoW....what a ending!!!
At 37.28 second truck is empty.
Where did they get this poor mans Marlene Dietrich she's going to rob him and set him up!
Get the popcorn.
Turn ut TV's on sheep 🐑
Great film, so different. Well written.
I have my feasible theories about the reformed society, instead of somebody becoming petty to big thief, leave percentages commissions kick backs out , that has become so much of norm worldwide as fee for doing ‘ work’ speedy and with fee attached, I am talking about street desperation of thievery, you give them before it starts and becomes a ‘ habit’ and those steps taken at right time of support goes long way of stemming what begins as desperation to survive, then a habit too hard to shake off, that’s all there it is to it, also if you have more than enough and catch somebody dipping in find out which category it is , desperation or greed , desperation should be let go with warning and what that need wants, because after all that was the motivation to take, greed on other hand should be punished so even with enough it’s a nasty bad habit which needs to be broken that is fair justice always remember the desperation of existence in various layers are being given by your so called grounded systems going bad to worse by your leaderships without understanding what human life is all about flaws mistakes all part of it , and till those layers are not sorted out this mess chaos is never going to end in fact much worse with fuels ending a reality in near future
Thank you. A nice French lady ❤
I believe she was Italian... but they are neighbours so maybe she was from an area close to the border.
Great film. Conte was fortunate to get her at the end. Pretty. Love how women dressed back then. Thanks
This would be entertaining but its just to cutthroat for me its just like watch the election coverage!!!!
Surely it's better than the election... the sociopath in the film didn't win 🙂
Rich Conti is driving a rare Studebaker "Deuce and a Half" nice!
Howard Hughes could be a real opinionated pain in the azz.
Howard was a bit mad. Thankfully he got out of the film business, but unfortunately not before he destroyed RKO.
Shume film i mire 👍 thuash se eshte Film Shqipetare 😂✨👍✨
WOW! GREAT MOVIE! despite the short time! Great acting by Richard Conte and Valentina Cortese,
WOW! You will never see movies like this again just awesome1
Call Northside 777
Yes... great film
I can't stomach low life nothing migrant peasants, they are pets of democrats lol
A good movie with a happy ending. 😊
Great movie, seen it a couple of times
Thanks for this good Review!
John Gabriel His mother played Jolsons mother in The Jolson Story.
I'm so glad it finally got the respect it deserves. My favorite Douglas movie.
i guess that's what they mean when they talk about the good old days of trucking. Oh, how we miss them.
you mean to tell me dad never signed a receipt for the money, and Ed never had a bill of sale for the truck?? what kind of monkey business is this.??
Love the film, watch it many times as you can miss subtle moments!
Wheres the prostitutes my dad was a trucker in the 60s and said all the truckers used working girls on long trips
This was the 40's and the censors wouldn't have allowed it
I remember when Oakland's fruit market looked like this. Really not that long ago, 1990's. All gone now.
Great french movie 😅😂 le salaire de la peur 😱 very good Yves montants and etc ...
Loved it, thanx
If you have, like I did, worked in an old-fashioned pre-digital news room this is a work of art. I'm old enough to remember the building shaking as the presses started the print run. 😁😁😁😁😁
26 minutes in and this reminds me of driving a truck. Boring, tiring, and a hassle. I can't watch any more. But it's reasonably realistic, except for his Army truck doing 80 mph.
That was agreat story and cast very sad in places but enjoyable to watch ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I believe that Highway must end where I live.
This great movie compares with Hell Drivers and other realistic truck films . Rigs are more comfortable and powerfull but the responsibility is the same for getting the goods to " market". I am a Scammell man. Thanks for this treat. Dave
Frank Perry did an equally disturbing film titled “Last Summer”.
I haven't seen it but will definitely check it out... thanks for the tip.
A brief synopsis would have earned you my 'like'.
That woman in her bedsit is psychotic

Best movie by Jules Dassin. Valentina Cortese was awesome.
This was definitely good. But you should see "Rififi" before you make a claim like that.
I live at the base of the Altamont pass. It's cool seeing the signs around the bay. Tracy Ca is on the other side of the pass. Great movie. Those guys had it tough back in the day. Thank you truckers. You keep America working.
Conte was excellent in this.....and the sultry girl was much nicer then that washed out blonde.
As a retired truck driver, I can tell you this is one of the most amazing films I’ve ever seen very realistic
🤣🤣🤣🤣snowflake, Karen, Chad 😢😢😢😢
Salute! I rode with an older couple in their huge truck from TX to Canada, and I've never seen so many stupid people driving cars and jumping in front of us. Thank God for the Jake Brake!
Great ending😊
Good movie!
I totally agree
Rarely do I watch a film anymore where the first four characters on film are impossibly loveable. I got hooked from Nickies homecoming. Loved this one. Soon in Conte's Nickie reminded me of two guys I know.
Thanks, great flick. 30's and 40s were the best.❤ 🌬💀🏴☠️
I love the film I’m watching from Great Britain UK The best country in the world.
it was, till comrade starmer ruined it
What rock do you live under? Britain is a lawless, antisemitic, undemocratic, Islamic shithole that surrenders up its children for abuse and rape by Islamic perverts. Churchill wasted his time fighting the Nazis. They run Britain now without firing a shot. You're a moron.
Very nice movie, makes you feel for the characters and its a joy to watch how trucking was back in 1949.
