the pixies have genuinely made my life bearable...... they are my religion and or faith. for 30 years whenever i am playing their music everything else fades into the background regardless of its importance and i just dont care because i am once again being placed on the magic ride of hypnosis through their sound. how many people start bands and play music and just dont quite stand out above the rest ? it all sounds so basic and as if they barely had to try........... frank zappa was a musical genius and i would love to know what he thought of charles and the gangs content. its impossible to have a favourite song because it changes so often but ive never heard anyone praise BRICK IS RED.. anyone else have a special spot for it?
I also relate to Pixies and actually, sometimes more of Charles' solo career. For the more obscure, "I've Been Tired" "Motorway to Roswell" and "The Happening " always resonate nostalgia and peace for me. Either way, Pixies are 1 of those bands for me that transcend music. I think clearer, and am more present when I listen to them.

The poetry of Speedy Marie’s ending gets me every time. I’m a fan from ‘89. Fell on the floor once at the Ritz in ‘92. And, you could no longer hear the band. Only the crowd screaming every lyric. In my opinion, they change music more than anyone. This loop. And, “Desire Lines” from Deerhunter make me so happy. Or, “Seen” as it were. To be 51 and know ive been right all along is a great triumph in my life. Glad to hear they do so much for others as well. Oh, and Frank Black and Catholics self titled album, recorded live on 4 track is a rock n roll revelation. Don’t miss out. Well, I’m sure you all know it.
Tough to pick my favorite Pixies tune, but No. 13, The Happening, and Motorway have a slightly different feel that i Effin love, I've always loved. Thanks for doing this, brotha.
