@@SilverLiningSK They get used to the things around them. I have a nest in my garden, it's 1 metre (2ft) deep in a stack of planks. I sit next to the entrance every morning and feed them. They don't sting, even though I often move rapidly or I sometimes put my finger under the nest guard's head. The guard attacked me twice, but it only used its mandibles. Hornets only use stingers if squeezed or while protecting the queen (keeping other animals far from it). The queen is tame and doesn't fear me, so the nest guard behaves as if the queen was safe and only defends itself. The hornets, however, don't use stingers in self-defence, so I only get bit. After a while the hornet calms down and I put it back on the nest entrance.
