First short animation using Blender - SNAPPY DELIVERY - collab with Tom Clohosy Cole
‘Snappy Delivery’ animation collab with @tomclohosycole ⭐
It was great working together for the first time and learning a bit of Blender in the process. Interesting pipeline, the characters were rigged and animated in Cinema 4D, everything else was designed and rendered in Blender and Eevee, water was made with FLIP fluids.
Big thanks to uncle Marley Cole for the sound.

Making REAL Holograms with Cinema 4D and The Looking Glass Portrait
Переглядів 4,9 тис.2 роки тому
UPDATE: I recently started using Blender and tried their plugin, it is far far superior to this method.. It would probably quicker to learn enough Blender to use the plugin than trying to get my way working... but if you want you render a C4D scene and you dont want to transfer it to Blender this is a good way to do it I guess! Let me know if you have any questions about my process creating hol...
Cinema 4D: Your First IK Rig - Joints, IK and Simple Spline Modelling
Переглядів 38 тис.2 роки тому
In this video I’ll be giving you an intro to Joints and applying IK to make some legs! I'll also show you a super handy way to link splines to joints (and anything else really) so we can make a couple speedy legs for rendering and test animations. This is the final bonus video that goes along with my rigging classes over on Skillshare. So if you’d like to know how to rig your first full charact...
Cinema 4D: Bike Animation Process Overview and Commentary

Hello! In this video I’ll be going over my animation process for this bike animation I made recently. This is more of a bonus video that goes along with my rigging class over on Skillshare. So if you’d like to know how to rig something like this go and check that out over there: Animation Fundamentals: Rigging a Cycling Character in Cinema 4D skl.sh/3jzDoWQ This will be more of a timelapse with...
Cinema 4D: Rigging with the Character Object
Переглядів 24 тис.2 роки тому
Hellooo! I’m Russ Etheridge, today we’re going to take a closer look at the Character Object in Cinema 4D. By the end of the class you’ll be able to set up your own character object rig for binding, posing and animation! Keep in mind I gloss over the binding section and go with the automatic binding for this rig which just about works for this character. This is more of an overview of how to us...
Liked the information that PSR is now Transform. Thanks
Looks amazing
I tried to follow this tutorial verbatim but whenever i select the character rig nothing actually pops up, no blue character reveals itself only rig arrows. Would greatly appreciate any feedback on if i have faulted settingsl
what if I have object that is not spline based? just some polygons that was already created? How and where I can use this IK tag? I'm looking for any solutions and still fins nothing(
love the choppy animation! How is that achieved? Just key frame by frame or by lowering the framerate?
Hi! I'm looking for a course to build my first "rig to animation" from zero knowledge. Your content seems perfect, though I'm wondering if the process has changed. The bike guy was done in an older version. What do you recommend to be starting now, and would you consider selling any coaching plan? Thanks Russ.
thanks a lot for this tuto. Very difficult to find the same quality in french.
I must appreciate your work and the algorithm that lead me to here, god this is astonishing
Very nice atmosphere. Great work!
Great short!
Awesome tutorial! I like how Poppy his walk cycle is
omg this rig process is so long, in 2023 this is the only way to rig a mash on Cinema 4D? A 60€/monthly software?
You can rig with the character object, which is a rig building tool, but the rigs it generates are complex, and only serve a handful of creature types. If you want to actually learn how rigging works so you can rig anything, this is a good place to start.
Great works! May I have your email adress to talk about cooperation?
For those who do not know anything, can you make a whole process operation video teaching, thank you
great tutorial :)
INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!!❤
The 45 cameras and quilting blew my mind, but I'm a c4d user so I guess I will have to try this
I recently started using a bit of blender, I can confirm that the blender plugin for the looking glass is far far superior to this method...
thanks a lot man!
Hey Russ! thanks to your rigg tutorial i made my first music video ua-cam.com/video/4W6nN0faG0Q/v-deo.html&ab_channel=MaverickSynth Thank you so much!!!
Still working as of today, ty!
Game change coming soon ua-cam.com/video/XvJJV4Cg7Uc/v-deo.html
year 2022 bravvvvvooo 1 minute job done in 25 minutes🤣🤣
We rig bike using same method?
Nice job brother thank you bro 🙏
Amazing stuff, Russ! (as always :) The quality and - I don't know how to say it - the taste (?) of the rendering is really great! Today Redshift in good hands is really a killer :) Have you switched to a higher version of C4D? Any comments? :) I've heard a lot about new UI e.g. :) Thanks once again and cheers! :)
Thank you! Yes been on r26 all year, I actually really like the new UI. Yes some of the icons are harder to read but everything makes a lot more sense in many ways, takes a couple days getting used to though..
@@russ_ether Thanks a lot for your response, Russ! :) All the best!
Any plans on doing the animation course?
Yes! in the planning stage.. AE for beginners is up next, then will fully focus on an animation one, I want to do it justice
@@russ_ether Cool :)
videos great man thanks!
Love this! how did you handle the rendering? EXR? I've always found using an EXR file super confusing and usually default to making the full render in C4D (octane). did you later edit and color correct in AE? Any help in this direction would be greatly appreciated! <3
I use EXRs if I'm rendering in linear colour space / high bit depth which I'd be doing for rendering multipass for compositing in post. But redshift looks so good now i usually just render 8bit pngs and do really minor colour correction in after effects. It's way less work and disk space working like that too, it's not a proper cinema quality VFX pipeline but works for 99% of work I do. Look up a linear colour space workflow for octane... ACES colour space kind of confuses things quite a lot now too, and it doesnt help that After Effects is terrible working in linear... sorry bit too heavy for a youtube comment but have google there's plenty of people grappling with this stuff out there.
@@russ_ether Hero! thanks for pointing me in the right direction! this is exactly what I was after, just finding the right keywords :D
Well well well...Russel bloody Etheridge just popped up! Hi mate, hope you're well! :)
Dom! Just spotted this, doing well thanks, hope you are equally well 💪
Nice
Wow thank you so much!!!! so helpful information !!!!!!!
Thank you so much for sharing your info and the scene file! I was about to pick up the Blender manual but this will go a long way to keeping everything inside C4D! :)
<3 u buddy, thank you for doing this, what a great share. I'll check out these projects, see if there's anything I can add, but looks like you've done all the heavy lifting, I really appreciate this. Let me know if you get kicking on Unreal, I did a first project recently just a VR180 project, so fast and responsive but damn is it a pain to re-learn or tweak to do the things I know in Cinema. But thank you a million for this, hidden hero
Superb kindly kindly make complete rig with facial bro awesome
thank you!!!
I ordered my looking glass portrait and am hoping Otoy adds a looking glass slit scan render option in Octane soon since they've mentioned working with holographic display technology before!
this was extremely usefull , thank you very much <3 i just happen to have a problem with some of the controllers and once i bind the object the hierarchy looks really different from wat u have
perfect tNX <3
Hola tengo un problema con la aplicación de una textura con imagen, me pone bien una parte y de repente se ve estirda en otra que hago???
VERY HELPFUL AND THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME AND KNOWLEDGE
WRONG JOINTS.... SORRY MAN....DAVE NOT HERE!!!!!!
10:30 When ever I try inserting a pole and moving it to where the knee should be oriented, it flips my leg around 😅 I can't get it to work, it's like the pole repels instead of attracting o.o
🤔When I just try to use it, it's worse than having no pole. With no pole and the pole vector left on "auto", the IK seems to infer reasonable directions perfectly from the slight biases I used to set up the joints. With a pole or a fixed axis vector, it will flip-flop at certain positions. What the heck is going on?!? 😅 (R26 here)
Hey! Yeah I get this sometimes, I'm not 100% sure whats happening in your particular case but the IK joints can be very fiddly. You could try building it again from scratch, make sure you have a little bend in the joints in the direction you want it to point and then add IK and a pole in that order, hopefully it'll work. Good luck!
@@russ_ether Oh hey, thank you for the reply! Starting the joints pre-bent was the first thing I did. In fact, since that makes the bones move pretty organically predictably as intended, I'm tempted to just not use a pole 😅 I haven't revisited the project yet, I forgot I had one on the back burner 😁
Oh how nice, thank you!
Hey guys, this is just a quick look at the character object, I might zip past it a little but it's more of a quick overview for people considering it over manual rigging. Also this was recorded in Cinema 4D r21 which is now quite out of date, particularly since the major reworks of r25. It might still be relevant to some people so I'll leave it up for now. I may come back and do another character object rigging tutorial in the future so keep your eyes peeled for that. Happy rigging!
ok, dear. Thanks for sharing with us. Please make a tutorial on how to make a human figure character.
Did you make another one for r25?
Stellar video. Nice one!!!
The hand to take the object can show us how you do it
You didn't respond to those with the problem. Maybe you can answer. Thanks for the tutorial. I am an experienced c4d user. I did exactly what you did. But when the Wrist.goal is in the Hip, when I move the Hip down, they all move together. The wrist is not stable. Outside of the hip, the wrist remains stationary and the leg lengthens. one.
Hey! thanks for watching. Not sure about the wrist we only made legs in this one ;) The IK ankle goal should be outside the hip control. You could make sure you have your transform constraint set up correctly. Not sure I can figure it out without seeing your project file. You can double check your setup against the final rig arrangement at 22:50
@@russ_ether thanks your ansver. I checked later. Position option is enabled. I canceled the event and it happened.
ez pz straight forward - thanks! never would have figured out the poles thing
Thanks so much for sharing, I was gonna try setting up a rig in c4d so your video just saved me a day (if I had even figured out the offset trick).
I'm on r25 and I'm so lost. I don't get the same options and outcomes
sorry i think this is probably quite outdated now. I might have another crack at a character object tutorial at some point with the new version and with a bit more detail for people, rigging is tough, even tougher to teach it seems!
Really love the pace of your tutorials, thanks for this!
