"Princess Mononoke," a masterpiece by Japanese director Hayao Miyazaki, celebrated 27 years since its release on 12 July 2024. This iconic film, first released on 12 July 1997, is famous for its exceptional animation, its profound themes about nature and humanity, and of course, its spellbinding music.
The film's soundtrack, composed by Joe Hisaishi, is an essential part of the cinematic experience. In particular, the piece "The Legend of Ashitaka" is the film's main theme. It appears at the beginning of the film and throughout, setting the tone and enhancing the emotional depth of the story.
Hisaishi, a long-time collaborator of Miyazaki, has created a sound atmosphere that reinforces the film's ecological and spiritual themes, while supporting the visual narrative. The music for "Princess Mononoke" is a harmonious fusion of traditional Japanese elements and modern orchestral compositions, helping to immerse the viewer in the wild and magical world of Mononoke's forest.

To mark the occasion, I have transcribed some of the music from the film, including the main theme "The Legend of Ashitaka," "Demon God," and the end theme. This will be my final transcription from this film for now, but I plan to bring together these pieces in a future video.

@@nebuseijimusika I used to make music too. Just made 1 for my ex wife today actually. Simple stuff, not like yours. Using soundfonts and X-FI. You picked the right version of this song. There was an earlier version with male singer in traditional Japanese style. It is also very special. However, the version you picked, the opera singer one, really brought out the "vengeance and sadness" to the extreme. I listen to many of your work and you always capture the spirit of the original piece very well. My ex wife loves your work too. I just don't always leave a comment. :D

hello thank you for your support. The voice is an acapella audio track of the real singer, except that I added reverb. I didn't use a VST for vocals.
