    I have a question, first my to be listening room is 17ft- 5in x 12ft-4in x 7ft-5in sorry about the units. There is also a large closet that needs a better door 'maybe'. And some windows that are disappointing to deal with. The ceiling height is nasty and the focus of my inquiry. I have one advantage. I live in the Midwest where most homes have basements. The room I will be using is the largest in the house and has been added to the original home. The space below the room was not completely dugout for a full basement BUT there is a crawl space the volume of which is around 2x(17ft- 5in x 12ft-4in x 4ft) which if there was no floor would be equivalent to about a 15ft ceiling! FINALLY I get to the question. If I were to cut vents in the floor, (hardwood), how many with what port area would be needed to treat the room? I am assuming that the pressure in the room would be reduced via the vents, but that means air needs to move from one volume to the other, and that requires time. Is there a way to think about this with some accuracy so I don't chop holes in the floor without effect and then end up divorced,...

    • @faqnatics
      @faqnatics Місяць тому

      You mentioned the Px7S2 twice, but assuming you mean between the S2 and S2e. The "e" main upgrade is that it uses the chipset in the Px8. It doesn't have the same driver so not the same sound, and is likely partially a cost savings, by using the same chipset, but likely offers a bit of a sound upgrade. I'm not sure how big of an issue earcups coming off was. I've lived with them hooked onto my backpack with no case, and they've survived multiple trips and a fair amount of use. When I saw this, I of course naturally started trying to detach mine, and it's hard enough that I had to stop because although I'm happy to buy stuff to test, I didn't want to break anything. But I see no issues, and just did a quick search, and don't see anything widespread in the current or previous products. Thank you so much for this detailed review. I’m an individual with a disability and I have been looking for the right pair of headphones for myself for the last two months. The key for me is comfort and number two is sound quality. What I noticed about the S2E is that the ear cups seem to be squared off more than oval and I think that will make a big difference. They also look fairly deep, and large, which will be excellent. I don’t have the money for a pair now, but they are high on my list to get. I’ve tried all of the Sony‘s. The Sonos, the AirPods Max, and I currently am testing the Bose, but even they are not as comfortable as I would like because of their oval cushions if I could find the resources, it might be a Bowers and Wilken Christmas with the S2E and the PI eights earbuds once again I like their squared off design

    Great, so solution to great bass is just by spending £1200 of 2nd hand subs or £2000 on new ones!

    • @faqnatics
      @faqnatics Місяць тому

      Well, great bass is limited by physics. Controlling low frequency waves requires an ability to both control peaks and dips in the room, as well as achieving pressurization in the room. One sub no matter the size isn’t going to get it done, unless it’s a single seat system. So for most people starting with 2 or 4 smaller subs will often provide cleaner response, and often for less than 1-2 larger subs. Otherwise, spend the time to find the best location for the sub, and realize you will have hot and cold spots in the room. That’s not manufacturers trying to sell you more subs, it’s what the objective mic checked response in just about any residential sized room will show. Doesn’t mean you can’t start with one, and then a year or more later add another one. Wish it was free, would save me a lot of money.

Currently sub is in back right corner, going to try moving that to front right, then if I get a 2nd, front-left. Thanks for your reply.

      Can’t go wrong with either. I prefer the looks of the B&W with the choice of materials, but the cloth headband on the Momentum 4 looks good, I just don’t like the ultra flat look of the eat up as much. Also, with some cloth headbands, they get snagged and hooked onto things in your bag, and issue I don’t find as much with the tighter weave on the Px7S2e. I haven’t played with the M4, and may need to. But I’m happy with my B&W, so I hate buying more headphones when now not fully relatable to my job. I did buy a pair of Sonos Ace headphones to see how they do in their larger ecosystem, but as a BR headphone, I wouldn’t do it. Gonna try to get a review on that up soon as well.

    One of my biggest things for headphones is noise leaking. Do you think that there is much of a difference between leakage for the PX7 S2e and the Sony X5? Im trying to get an upgrade from my JBL TWS earbuds for school so I’m sure the sound leak will be improved either way.

    • @faqnatics
      @faqnatics Місяць тому

      Hey Amelia. I’d say both have a relatively similar fit. Leakage is always tough, because higher clamp force on the ears solves it, but too much and you don’t want to wear them for more than 30 minutes. Both are comfortable to wear for long hours, and both keep most of the bass inside. I think the plastic shell of the Sony allows for a bit more outside reverb, which isn’t the same as leakage, but does mean that some of that bass energy is lost vibrating the earcup, rather than directing towards the listener. This is where the premium and more inert materials of the B&W headphones help to keep the sound energy directed towards the listener. Hope that helps.

I was working during CEDIA, so didn’t get a chance to see the product in person, but it’s an expensive product so let’s just make sure it does everything you want! 😉

I do have a Melon™ so while I'm excited for my pair to arrive, I'm trying to keep my hype down just in case they don't fit well... which would suck because from the current lineup of ANC headphones, these seem to be the most robust with the least compromises

    Anthony....does the AES/ dante connection have to be 16/24/32 specific for use or it doesn't matter

    • @faqnatics
      @faqnatics Місяць тому

      Here’s what I think you’re asking, but let me know if I misunderstood. There are a few “AES” designations to pay attention to. For the purposes of send multi-channel high-res audio, 2-way communication, etc, we are discussing AES67, which is what you’d be looking for. It can be used on a 16/24/32 processor, the limit to the channel assignments really just comes to a limit in the processor. My StormAudio processor as an example has 32 AoIP outputs, which I can use in multiple configurations or setups in multiple rooms. Really the only constraint is having Ethernet cables connected over the network. Connections are as simple as an AES67 Ethernet port from the processor, source, etc. into a network switch, and then an Ethernet cable from the switch to the AES67 port on the back of you amplifier of amplified speaker. Then after discovering them, you can configure them however you want. Does that answer the question? Either way let me know and have a Happy Thanksgiving.

    With Holiday sales prices I was about to purchase the Sony X5 headphones. I looked at every comment on Amazon. I usually start with the 1 star rating. An engineer’s review of the fragile and easily breakable earphone posts convinced me to not buy Sony. Bowers & Wilken S2e was on sale on Amazon and I purchased them. I am now looking at UA-cam reviews and I better understand I made the best choice, especially since I am an amateur audiophile and listen to the performance details regardless of the genre. Do they use Bluetooth 5.4 ?

    • @faqnatics
      @faqnatics Місяць тому

      No, they operate on BT5.2, which is pretty standard for the recent Bose and Sony models as well. From what I know of 5.4, a lot of the difference revolves around point to multipoint (not for audio), but in the data, or retail price tagging. Distance, codecs, and other features are the same, although I’m sure there is, as always, a bit of a reliability upgrade. Really for tech like BT, it just depends on when a headphone is released as to who has the latest version. Plus since lossless protocols like AAC and AptX have been out for years, it’s the drivers, wiring, and DSP that are going to have the biggest result on the sound. As an example I do have a pair of Sonos Ace headphones which are on 5.4, but don’t sound as good, or have the ANC of the Px7S2e, Sony, or Bose models. I’ll have a deeper review during the holidays, but personally while I like knowing my toys have the latest tech, I wouldn’t be too worried about 5.2 vs 5.4 as a deal breaker. Hope that helps. If you had something more specific as a reason to ask, let me know.

    Is the leather real on the headphones? Or Vegan materials?

    • @faqnatics
      @faqnatics 2 місяці тому

      I double checked on this, and the Px7 S2e headphones are a faux leather (vegan leather, whatever you want to call it). It's often used as a more resilient material. On the Px8, I believe the area on the outside of the earcup and headband are nappa leather, but I'm not 100% on the earcup material itself. Hope that helps. Are you someone looking for vegan leather, or someone who wants the real thing? Always curious on people's choices, as it helps product teams to better weigh the material selection. Interesting food for thought. Easy to watch other reviews that don’t take into consideration the effect of aggressive ANC on playback quality. The only knock on B&W that I’ve researched is that multiple users have experienced failure of the materials on the head piece which can slip due to poor adhesive. Have you encountered any issues with the headphones beginning to split and fail? Maybe more on the PX8 model. I’ve seen the PX7s2e model at a reduced price and it’s tempting. But the negative reviews which include negative reviews regarding customer service.

I’m looking at mine right now and the way the bottom and top are stitched and glued it would be hard for it to come out, but somebody always does. I always like to look at general reviews, but remember that those types of reviews tend to attract haters and fanboys, but things do fail, but service and support should be good although my first hand experience was under B&W not under Masimo.

      The compression isn't too great, so they might slip if doing something vigorous, but for general weights and treadmill I think they would stay on fine. Generally though I'd recommend using in-ears for work-outs. They are less likely to move around, and the rubber tips with in-ears are far more hygienic than a leather or cloth ear cup that absorbs seat and dirt. My .02 cents. but yes, it would likely stay on during a workout.
