Every elder has his or her own particular life story to recall and retell. Drawing on my poems, songs, and life story recordings over many years, I trigger such telling's through this performance, which is built around my father's life experience in the period 1930 until 1960. Readings, recitations, songs, and audience contributions are included.
I'm a former university lecturer in Sociology, and international guest lecturer; in-career course director for overseas teachers. Poet, with 8 published collections.

Arboreal Healing is a more on-point expression than Forest Bathing. One could also say Treescape Therapy.
. . Lovely pace of life, beautiful countryside. . . and the commentary on the war, time stamping the video. .
Just beautiful thsnk you 😮
Beautifully done. . Go raibh maith agat ..
Well done ✅ Well crafted ✅💯 The video "too much" by John Malachy Raftery is a commentary on the over-reliance on technology and its impact on our lives. Here are some key points: We are constantly bombarded with information: "The screen is too much with us" (0:02) We are losing our ability to focus and think critically: "Little we see in junk feeds" (0:13) We are becoming addicted to technology: "Devices glued early and late" (0:26) We are losing touch with the natural world: "Minds gyrating to some Looney Tune" (0:35) We are becoming automatons: "Worn out automatons from sensings torn" (0:53) We are losing Our sense of self: We are being manipulated by data: "Robbing like Triton blowing red horn" (1:15) We are losing our humanity: "Wretchedness which ubiquitously Rangers" (1:28) The video ends with a quote from William Wordsworth: "The world is too much with us" (1:35). This quote reflects the speaker's concern that we are becoming too consumed by technology and losing sight of what is truly important in life.

A fantastic place to be in at that. time of year singing was amazing it is nice to hear singing like tha t none of that goes on up here in donegal it is a thing of the past
It was so sad the cows got brucellosis.
Love the pig prop😁👏😅
Fine verse 😊 thank you Sam for the Wham Bam
Good to see this. Chef Sam finally "copped on" and maybe got Michelin Stars?
When this is compared with an American bare lawn; which is so prized, it is quite a contrast.
Worked hard those days
Prettaaaaay good! Excellent content in a youtube full of mediocre stuff. Living and working on a farm I see the relics of ould daycentcy that is preserved and recreated in this film. The narration is very apt and compliments the film very well and vice versa. I would like to see a list of credits for the poets and song writers. God bless the prodigious production.
It seems like those Doctrinists are going down a very old road with very new arsenals.
Beautiful words
Lovely Memories 💛
Fine collection of words
Beautiful native woodland of Ireland
They loved and helped each other
I think I saw those wraiths also..but had no camera!
Used to help futting the turf on the bog 😂🇮🇪
❤
Great words
The rude fella at 13 mins. Was he an actor thrown in or the real deal? Quite right he was put in his place😊
A very honest look at how things used to be. My favourite part was when the man came in and greeted the couple with "God save all here." That was a greeting I remember well. Lets start using these endearing greetings again.
The now lethal sod of turf has been banned. What next there's not much left.
Which county are they in?
They're all so talented people, friendly and hospitable🍀
You couldn't stage this: it's the real thing and wonderful to see old interactions and customs played out by these genuine folk of Ireland🍀
Great
Seán Scully on tin whistle.
I love the story about the two brothers and the fireside scene and I remember well those days. There was a great sense of togetherness amongst Irish people in those days that is gone now. Probably down to the world has got smaller, Ireland is no longer the isolated island on the edge of Europe, a lot of Irish people got richer and that sense of humour has somewhat gone into the past.
They ruined our lovely home land
I love looking at those stories
Worked hard then
I remember my mam churning
Great lads those days
Great lads . God be with the days
Daddy used to do that
