I love how you can clearly see how much Gon has matured since the start of the show, and even the end of the Chimera Ant arc. His reaction to the situation with Kite during their fight with the Ants was SO much more personal and angering for him. I think all the time he spent in the hospital as he was recovering slowly gave him time to come to terms with everything that had happened, which is why he was able to talk about it much more normally to his Dad here, albeit still being quite upset. His innocence is gone, and he’s finally seen just how horrific different parts of the world can be.

I hate the reality we live in. We live in a world where rent and other utilities are expensive, the wrong people are in jail when the real criminals are out there. There's injustice, people take advantage of other people, certain people try to rob other people. Who knows how many wars are going on right now? There are cities where lots of drug addicts and homeless are that can't be helped/taken care of. I'd pay 8,000 USD for someone to un-alive me.

Leorio is trying to get Gon’s dead beat father to sack up and visit his kid he knows the kid is in bad shape and maybe the idea he finally did something to get his father’s attention would make him want to get better sooner. Ging (probably?) grasps the fact he was and is no father to Gon, so he’s better off with people who want to be there for his kid rather then want him to chase after some guy who lives in the moment so much even he knows he’s running from his past.
