I have always liked to learn new things, that grew into finding items in need and repairing/restoring them.

CT-F1250 repair part 4 - Parts arrived, display board installation prep
Used replacement display arrived along with new thin metal washers for the pinch roller arms (now installed).
I am going to desolder the 17 (yes) pins from the existing display board and solder them on the replacement board. 👌

CT-F1250 repair part 1 - Arrival initial diagnosis

Starting to prep for work on my brothers cassette deck. (circa 1975) Normal 40 year old equipment maintenance. I will be replacing belts, pinch rollers, clean and oil pivot points, and clean and lube all potentiometers. Finally, I will clean the tape heads and demagnitze them.

Repairs planned are now completed: 3 belts and the two pinch rollers were replaced. I greased the transport slides (grabs cassette and slides it up to 'ready' position) and oiled pivots. I will next be moving on to the reassembly steps to the point I can run some tests to see how bad I messed up 😉. ✝️ your ✌️
RT-707 Repair part 4 - All main issues resolved

Issues resolved in order. 1: Capstan low speed issue. Fixed by finding blown 1am fuse. 2: VU METER lights lost after my inadvertent slip of meter causing a short. Meters and lamps were still OK - thankfully. Fixed by replacing 500ma blown fuse that tested good while in its fuse holder, but not when removed and tested. 3: Tape coumter not moving. Fixed by replacing counter belt. 4: Audio low out...
RT-707 Repair part 3 - Still chasing the audio issues

I am back to working on my initial RT-707 unit, which still has audio issues, but is now playing from the tape playback heads in both directions. 🏆 However, the audio output and registered playback VU levels are very low. Happy to report audio testing is good as you can hear in the video. NOTE: After this video was made, I did test recording and it also works 🏆win I am very happy this turned out to be so much more than just a 'Parts' machine. 😊 Cosmetics are still in process, base plate and case cover are being repainted. My SA-8500 amplifier needed a matching tuner, which I just found onFB Mktplc for $70. It needs some servicing, I will do what I can, all the functions all seem to work. Nice to see the matched set together.

Title says 'Belt addition' as there was nothing but goo left from the original q980's belt. It took me 3 hours to clean the good off using a degeeaser, 15 foam tipped long swabs, and 2" square 'pads' I cut from several sheets of Scott's blue shop towels. I am hopeful that I can get this tape deck back working again as it does not function well at the moment but deserves a 2nd chance 😉 The main tape captain drive motor is very weak and does stay spinning, so the power supply/ drive control boards will be my first area of focus.
