This video hardly touches on the band even _existing_ prior to "The Bad Touch," even though the album "One Fierce Beer Coaster" had their first massive hit, "Fire, Water, Burn" - a song which this video uses clips of the music video for. Had this been about "cultural sensibilities," you're about a decade too early with where their decline started to make that argument. It doesn't acknowledge the album becoming a surprise hit by the band not being able to afford touring, so they checked national radio stations to see where they might get played and sent albums. It doesn't acknowledge the *massive* success of the 1999 album(don't want the comment shadowed by typing the name) in the European market, and that the band had to then split not just between grunge, alt rock, and nu-metal, but Europop now as well. (Did well with "Uhn Tiss Uhn Tiss Uhn Tiss," but that's about it.) The only "changes in audience's expectations" were that audiences weren't expecting music that was popular _because of the music, first and foremost,_ from 1996 to 2001 in 2006. It also probably didn't help that their on-stage antics ended up getting them banned from entering two countries minimum, along with souring multiple band members - Lupus Thunder left in 2008 and later claimed he often complained about their antics, and while Spanky G hasn't specifically said the antics contributed in him leaving the band in 1999 and going back to school, watching "One Fierce Beer Run" would make it hard to argue that he'd want to stick around for too much longer, especially with Jared around. Bloodhound Gang's run is nothing new, and it has absolutely nothing to do with "different times with different sensibilities." It's that instead of being a one-hit wonder, they were basically a three-hit wonder. And to say they wouldn't survive today in the title: If GWAR, Cannibal Corpse, Cardi B, Miley Cyrus can all survive; if Metallica and Lady Gaga can collaborate; if you can get bloodier at a Taylor Swift show in 2019 than a Poison The Well show 20 years earlier; if you're more likely to have to literally look over your shoulder when you leave the house by having an unfavorable opinion of BTS than if you've just verbally eviscerated Sean Muttaqi in the presence of a group of hardline kids; then Bloodhound Gang, today, could not only survive, but _thrive._ They just would have to, y'know, make music that is either good, consistent, or, preferably, both. The perspective presented here - or the complete lack of range in perspective, I should say - feels, to quote "Fire, Water, Burn": "Not old or new, but middle school, fifth grade, like junior high."
