Hey man, just a random guy from the mexican melee community here. I completely agree with what you've said during the video, people can be pretty ungrateful with TO's sometimes and I think it's cuz they simply don't understand how hard it is to run a tournament (logistics, money, time). I also wanna say that you unlucked so many of my highschool/college memories (y'know, being with the boys and be competitive with each other and all that). It was very delightful to see someone else sharing the same love I have for smash. Melee community can be hard sometimes but I do personally think it's all worth it in the end due to all of the growth you get in exchange (competitiveness, sense of community/belonging, memories). Anyways, great video man! I'm sorry you had to endure a bad experience from it, and thank you for trying to host a local in your town :)

Joe's story at the start is my story. I got cooked online by a good friend, and I got pissed, so gradually I became better than him. Currently, I am still able to 3 stock him. Edit: From one Smash player to another; from one person to another, you are only human. Taking all of what you said at face value, keep in mind your friends were just 20 too. I am 22, there were things that happened, I can relate to that I wish my friends backed me, they were also teenagers like me. They were learning from my mistake. Also people are cowards, everyone wants to be accepted. I have been bandwagoned, I have done bandwagoning. I am human just like you. You are older and likely more/mature than I am so I know you understand this already. There was no one to defend you, there is always a person on the planet who would if they were in the roght place at the right time. Probably could've prevented a crash out.

the real culprits here are 100% your friends who didnt run the bracket, like cmon man this is a tournament not just som hangout, where im from normally people would care about even their own bracket, its unbelievable that not a single one participant cared about moving the tournament along and then had the balls to trash talk about how bad it was, its a community effort. I think the lesson though is to not crash out when people have negative feedback. I understand that you were younger and that this was a difficult situation to process, but as a current melee TO, I will say that my tournaments became a lot better once I stopped taking negative feedback personally and instead did my best to address the shortcomings of my events. I do not want this to come off as me attacking you, I commend you for your efforts to host an event. I hope you’ve been well since leaving melee.

Maaannn you didn't deserve that. The cause of the problems were so not your fault, and if they wanted a tournament so badly, they should've taken responsibility for *the role they were knowingly given* by you and made it happen. Regardless, good vid and story!

Man I've been there, I used to run tournaments in HS and college some people are just awful. Granted, the Smash community is pretty rough.
