ITEPE OBALOGBO FESTIVAL is performed yearly by High Chief Obalogbo and is one of the festivals that leads to Ogun Festival in Ijero Ekiti.
This Festival was brougt to Ijero-Ekiti from Ile-Ife the cardle of Yoruba Race, also the Festival is associated with Orisha Obalogbo which equally comes from Ile-Ife.
The Festival is usually celebrated in July, a month preceding Ogun Festival month and is as old as Ijero-Kingdom.
The Festival will start a night before the celebrating day with a lot of funfair with all Obalogbo wifes both past and present wife of Obalogbo frying Akara (Beans Cake) till the day.
Obalogbo himself must not talk to anybody untill the ceremony is over. the second day Obalogbo will dance to Esekan Ikori dancing Steps and the drum called (Ikarakara Drum) will be beating by Alugbedu from Oke-Oro formally called Idao. During this dance Obalogbo carries a shield called (Iyangede) and a sword use by first Obalogbo during war e.g. Kiriji War. The Dancing step is called Esekan Ikori when successfully completed Obalogbo step out of the scene and proceeded to ile -Orisa Obalogbo to perform some rituals and there after obalogbo must embark of Traditional confinement for (7) Seven days.
Various Orisha worshippers must come to Itepe Festival to celebrate with Obalogbo every year.
Also a Masquerade call O-rooo will come along to dance after which the festival closed.
