I play a mix of new and retro games over various genre of games. I've mostly focused on playing games using Linux as my operating system of choice with really good results on the compatibility front over the last couple of years. The community has made massive strides in gaming on Linux and I commend them for their outstanding work.
Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride (Part 48) Endgame Sequence
Dang. 2 videos short of a perfect 50. :) Anyway, the endgame sequence was fairly lengthy, so I put it in its own video.

Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride (Part 47) Mt Zugzwang (Part 2) Grandmaster Nimzo Defeated
Переглядів 122 години тому
There's some mildly tricky puzzles leading up to the Grandmaster, but nothing too bad really. The fight with him took a while, but I don't think I was ever truly in danger.
Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride (Part 46) Mt Zugzwang {Part 1} Bishop Ladja Defeated
Переглядів 122 години тому
I had a feeling this area would be extensive, so I'll have to split this final part of the game into three videos I think. Ending this one after getting our revenge on Bishop Ladja is a nice point anyway. :)
Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride (Part 45) Nadiria T'n'T Board & Traveling to Mt. Zugzwang

A bit of a quick video because the next area promises to be pretty lengthy. Oddly enough, I was able to get through this T'n'T board pretty quickly even though it's the biggest one.

Getting ever closer to completing the game. Most likely I'll need to do yet some more level grinding and gambling for some better equipment, but we're on the verge of completing this game now.

I feel that we're getting close to completing the game now, but more importantly I've been reunited with Bianca! I found some robust lingerie that only she can wear... ;)
Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride (Part 42) Mantleplace

This little dungeon took longer than I thought it would. I don't think you could say I was ever truly in danger, but things took a while due to pushing all of these blocks around and the high encounter rate.
Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride (Part 41) Bjorn the Behemoose Defeated

Other than Parry not being able to fizzle his way out of a paper bag, this fight went fairly well. Afterwards we opened up every door that we could with the ultimate key.
Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride (Part 40) Sidequest Backtracking

I went all over the world here doing a bunch of sidequests that I left before attempting to deal with Talon Tower.
Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride (Part 39) Talon Tower {Part 2} Zenith Dragon Revealed
Переглядів 1216 годин тому
The first boss fight wasn't bad at all. In fact, I came back by myself and smacked 'ole Slon around without breaking a sweat. Bishop Ladja on the other hand... Yeah, he wasn't very friendly. Not only that, but he actually escaped after toying with us. Punk.

This area is really long. It's made a bit worse due to me being a bit underleveled in preparation for a couple of missable achievements as well.
Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride (Part 37) Zenithia Castle Flies Again!

There's a little bit of traveling involved here, but things are quiet on the encounter front while you're flying around at least.
Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride (Part 36) Neverglade

Somewhat confusing area made more confusing by the fact that I forgot to bring my kids in here with me initially. At least we've finally been able to return to Faerie Lea.
Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride (Part 35) Diggery Pokery & Underwater Zenithia Castle

This area wasn't too extensive really, but the exposition afterwards at Zenithia Castle is what added quite a bit of time to this outing.
Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride (Part 34) Sky Tower & Opening Diggery Pokery

This area wasn't too bad really, but the next takes a little bit longer than I thought it would, so I split this excursion into two videos.

Amazing 😍 it took me forever to beat this game a long long time ago. Brings back heartfelt memories of better times ❤❤❤
You can skip the animation when travelling to another planet. Just press a button.
What are you playing that you got this achievement? My GBA doesn't give achievements, haha
Playing on my computer using Retroarch. There's a way to link to retroachievements.org for that, but you have to make sure you're using the correct core and supported file to get the achievements. It's pretty simple once you get used to it and the website has lots of documentation to help you out as well.
Oh so if you get all seven Chaos Emeralds you'll get the Super Sonic ending but you can't transform in the Death Egg Zone, unless you use the debug mode. I've always thought that unlocking Super Sonic the legit way would also let you fight the final bosses using him
You need glasses my man, go to an eye doctor.
imagine if metal slime knights acted like metal slimes and could heal themselves. that would be nuts!
How did you get so much gold? I keep having to grind to buy potion.
Oh boy. Don't know how I missed you playing one of my favorite games. Definitely saving this to watch later.
also you can only have up to three of a certain monster, once you have three, they wont ask to join you anymore. but if you part with one permanently, the numbers update.
i doubt you would get to such a high level in this playthrough, but if you did, you could, in theory, get a slime to learn scorch, if i recall correctly
yeah there are some monsters coming up that have 1/64 chances of being recruited. as apposed to the goat slime knight goodian, who is a 1/4 odds. always loyal, and hes always treated me well.
I'm having issues with the cursor staying in the corner
It's been a while since I messed with this, but I think the autolock=true combined with starting in windowed mode may have been what worked for me. You may want to try autolock=false as well. I should note that I would press Alt+Enter to go fullscreen after launching the game. I think. :)
@kilrathikiller i got wc3 for $0.97 used to play it back when it first came out. Really excited to be able to play it again. Plus the twist in I remember being shocked and angry really like the traitor
this game is widely considered pretty easy, so grinding is mostly for gold in this game.
That definitely has taken up most of my time so far. Well, that and monster hunting.
Thanks you for this video. Always love finding video of old games I never hear of from back during the 8bit & 16bit days. Will have to give this one a try.
Heya, I am collectively known as pitfall! some people in a modding discord are only just now learning how to mod this game! anyways, how are you! glad to see a blind playthrough once again. last one i watched was years ago.
actually there was one guy who hacked this game back in the day, but nobody knows how to contact him anymore.
I'm doing pretty well, thanks! I'd say this is a mostly blind playthrough. There are about 13 missable achievements, so I'm trying to pay attention to when one of those may show up. I have a guide up on GameFAQs, but that's mostly just to see how many items are in a town or dungeon before I leave since I don't want to leave anything behind. Other than that, I've never played any version of this game, so I'm trying not to spoil anything for myself if I can help it.
oh my god is this a blind playthrough?! i love watching people play through this game for the first time!
That boss battle was probably the most underwhelming thing I've ever seen, haha.
Hey bro, I noticed y'all have a slight southern accent. Ya mind if I asked you where you're from? My family's from Georgia and North Carolina.
I grew up in Alabama, but I have family all over the country as well.
Inner a zerg's building, lol 😊😅😊
Hey, random question, but what's your process for recording gameplay and videos? I've been thinking about trying out Let's Play videos just for the heck of it, even if no one ends up watching them, lol.
I use OBS Studio to capture my desktop audio and video. After that I use Avidemux to edit the videos. That may not be necessary for a long play video, but I try to cut out extraneous stuff in my videos so as to keep them somewhat brief.
@kilrathikiller Cool, thanks for the tip. And a great video by the way. I think I found a new channel to listen to while I'm at work, lol.
Never owned a TG16 myself but a friend growing up did. Played lots of BONK but most of the library I'm unfamiliar with. This lil Zelda clone looks amazing.
I played the 1st Neutopia game and it's pretty good. The hit detection is the toughest part to get used to. You might appreciate Golden Axe Warrior for SMS more.
Nice video, I appreciate the casual overview.
I did play Golden Axe Warrior quite a few years ago. I liked it as well. Also a pretty blatant Zelda clone, but I'm ok with that too. :)
Where the hell is the HD/4K remaster of this game? With these actors how else can you not say “take my money please?!?”
I can't disagree with that. I'd even take the DVD treatment that Wing Commander IV got, but it wasn't meant to be sadly.
So that's what happens afterwards. I keep getting killed by those fighters that spawned.
After another successful mission in the Dralthi and taking on Rapiers this is your reward. Think I would prefer to stay in the Dralthi lol.
I imagine the first thing they had to do when prepping those Dralthi was to vacuum all the cat hair.
Hehe, funny.
Man… this brings back great memories. I have a Duo RX, I may pick this up again. Good times!
I love games like this, mysterious with cool box art. Reminds me of the games I wanted to play when I was a kid. Thanks for showing this off.
At the time Mint did offer newer kernels for users with newer hardware. Now (at least a year after uploading) the Mint team has announced a policy change: They're going to start shipping newer kernels with each point release so that users of newer hardware don't need to get a kernel upgrade during or immediately after install. I actually think this might be a problem for me, since I tend to use older hardware. For a long time I used to keep using the newer kernels they offered as they came available, but I found a breaking kernel bug that was affecting Wifi on most of my systems, and I had to downgrade back to 5.15, where I've remained until this day on all my systems.
I haven't had a chance to go back to giving Mint a try, but I'm in a bit of the opposite predicament. For OBS Studio, I use the hardware encoder for AMD for recording my videos now that I've swapped over to one of those GPU's and I didn't see that as an option with the built in drivers in the kernel that are recommended for AMD GPU's. To be fair, I haven't tested the latest Mint version yet, so hopefully they've fixed that issue. That and I need another M2 drive so each OS can be on its own drive ideally. When I do get back to using Linux, it will almost assuredly be with Mint though.
I saw HungryGoriya's review here on UA-cam, where she complained that Neutopia was too easy, too hand-holdy. She said that it didn't allow for enough exploration to figure things out on your own--rather, all the people living in the spheres would tell you everything you need to know with little to figure out, unlike Z1 or (evidently?) all other RPGs in existence. She disliked it because it wasn't what she expected. I agree with you that it was still very enjoyable even though it might be "easy". FWIW Neutopia II somehow lost a lot of the charm of the original--but I'll be interested to see your reactions as you play through it.
I may have got a lot of hints from the townspeople, but more often than not I figured it out on my own. Seems that this game does get a bit more criticism than what it deserves. I wouldn't say it's the greatest game ever, but I enjoyed playing it and isn't that what's important? :)
I love phantasy star 3, i think this game gets way to much hate, it has flaws yes, but what game doesnt?
Did dark force is realy wanting exploding the alisa iii world-ship with all its unlivings? If the answer is positive, who is blocking him to do it, since he was freed from his magic seal when the orakio's sword is removed from the rock? Whats going on with him?
That's pretty much his goal, to destroy all life. My guess why he didn't do it after pulling the sword is that he needed time to build up his power.
Cool review!
Many thanks!
Try ragnarune remake 😊❤
I haven't heard of this one. I'll have to give it a look. Thanks!
Very cool to catch this 5 minutes after upload while looking for a retrospective/review of Circle of the Moon. Only a minute in and you've earned the like and subscribe, looking forward to the rest of the video
Thank you very much! :)
When I fell into the pit through the hole in the floor, the platform will not go up.
having the same issue. i hate using the console cheats but i just had to because it was just frustrating. once, youre in that hole its over,.....you cant get out.
and that's how Mark Hamill got face herpes.
Blair romancing Rachel, is the canon choice of the series
It's not the original version
thanks, was looking for that full intro.
Ever since Divinity "Original Sin" 2, it's been hard to find anything about this game via searching UA-cam.
I made a lot of the stuff in this game, sets, and ships, it was a big game. Ahead of its time due to Origin Games. I started making ships in the first 3D engine called EOR. The first of its kind. Good times.
Wow. That's quite awesome. Thank you very much for sharing!
Well done. When I used to fight Atomos with wars of attrition I always ended up losing. Now that I know his strat and behavior, it's a lot easier. Still painful to watch other people get comet'd to death, though. It's typically better to let Atomos have his way and keep one party member KO'd so he'll stop using comet 2-3 times in a row. Seems like you had dark shock. A fun strat is to use that + LV 5 Death for an easy win.
Well. Dang. Hehe. I'll need to look more into that, but I haven't been able to get LV 5 Death yet. Thanks for the comment!
How do u drop the nukes?
If the quick reference guide is anything to go off of, the key combination should be Alt + S. Most likely I set up a hotkey on my joystick using AntiMicro-X for ease of use.
great review! i would always recommend the original version of the game, the classic version has 11 singleplayer levels cut and is just full of bugs and crashes also can install modern audio and graphics renderers on rune gold
Really?? They actually included the old version of Rune Gold on GOG. I didn't realize that they removed levels in the re-release. Thanks for adding that information!
I just waited UNTIL you can BREAK a BUYABLE FIRE Rod Karnak/Karnak CASTLE part of the game.
That probably would have been smarter had I done that, but who doesn't like a good challenge? :)
Just liking this video because your name rocks
Hehe, thanks. I started this channel off with playing the Wing Commander games, so it was appropriate.
I had this game when I was younger and loved it but never saw a lot of these funeral scenes. I'm curious, what happens if Hobbes dies BEFORE his inevitable betrayal? It's such a major part of the game and the death of Cobra is a result of it
I think the only way you can get him to die is in a bugged section of the game, so it wouldn't progress anyway. Outside of that area, there's no way for Hobbes to die until it's by your own hand.
do u prefer the 2 player mode version of this song?
I'm not sure really. I didn't listen to it until just now and it's totally different. I think if I had to choose one version over the other, I'd probably take the single player version.
seems like a cool game
