Bigme B251 25-inch Color E INK Monitor mouse lag demo after the latest firmware update
There were other parts of the video where I talked about my experience with the Bigme B251 and I didn't have time to finish them. But if there is a demand there I will do it. Let me know in the comment section if there are anything you want me to answer. Thank you!

video of my moshi hdmi adapter fails to work
My question is: is it possible to use monitor during the day and have backlight completely turned off? Like on classic eink book reader.
Thanks for your review! I had the same issue of the flicker when connect to mac, I found the "still color" on GitHub, but it just for M1/M2/M3, unfortunately, my Mac is an old version
That's odd, I thought this issue is specific to the apple silicon macs. It's the first time I heard about this issue under a mac that has an intel CPU. Which mac model do you have? My brother has an intel mac, I can try it out with this monitor. Alternatively you can also make a post on the eink subreddit and see if other people have a solution for you?
@@serige My mac is MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2016) with MacOS 12.7.1, I connect with Dasung 103 ,and it is flickering, I also have a Bigme251, I connected to PC without any problem ,maybe I can try to connect the Bigme251 with this mac next time to see if it is flickering too
Do you think it is agreable for everyday usage? Would you recommend it now?
Really depends on your use case. For me, I mainly want to work on coding for long hours without serious eye fatigue and this monitor is what I am using daily. I can make another video about my experience if there is a demand.
Thank you for sharing your experience. This looks promising.
No worries. I have also mentioned on the reddit thread there are few other minor issues currently with the latest firmware. Just make sure to do your research thoroughly before spending the money on such an expensive product :)
@@serige can you share the reddit thread please?
also I would love if it´s possible a demo of it playing a video
@@nilsonlagos987 www.reddit.com/r/eink/comments/1anavu1/the_bigme_b251_color_eink_monitor_just_arrived/
@@nilsonlagos987 I would say have a low expectation for watching videos, don't even try to play games on this. The picture quality for video is actually worse than a B&W eink display because of the color overlay. But the improvement over the previous gen Kaleido screen is definitive there. I wouldn't want it as the only monitor display. For the optimal setup you will need an side LCD monitor like I have here. Again, I can do another video about my experience if there is enough demand.
WTF, Dasung's refresh speed is amazing. Even the older version of their 13.3-inch e-ink display was noticeably faster than Bigme's. Dasung's refresh capability is truly impressive.
Also-not sure if this is of interest to you, lol… It’s about screen “reflectivity”. On the Dasung color 25.3 inch monitor, on their website, they say the Dasung color has “higher reflectivity”. Not sure what that means-but I’m thinking the screen is more reflective and shiny??? Not sure. Anyway, I have the Sun Vision Display monitor. It is designed to be easy on the eyes because it has no backlight. Instead it has a “reflective” screen. But it doesn’t work for me. The screen is super shiny, and it is a bit easier on my eyes because it is not LCD lit, but not as easy on the eyes as an e-ink would be. Question-I’m curious if you notice a difference in the “reflectivity” or shiny-ness between the Dasung, the Boox, and the Bigme that you own, or if they are all three equal in their dull, paper-like, non-shiny quality. I hope this question isn’t too “left field”…
I am not sure the they mean by "reflective" either. If you are asking for 'glossiness' of the screen with front light off, the Mira is the least glossy. The Bigme is the most glossy (the Dasung isn't that much better). I honestly don't think it bothers me because the Bigme has plenty of screen real estate, there is only a part of the monitor that gives you the shinny reflection when you seat in front of it. Also with the correct light source surrendering the monitor, it shouldn't be a big problem for most people, unless your eyes are super sensitive to this.
That’s super helpful, thank you! @@serige
Hi Serige-Love this delay comparison. I’m thinking of buying either a Boox Mira Pro, the new Dasung color monitor, or maybe even the Bigme. I’m hoping I can ask you about the Boox Mira vs Dasung Paperlike vs Bigme text (maybe it's called read) mode. My job is to read scanned, hand-written “papers” online. Scanned, hand-written papers are very different than typed papers because there is a lot of variance in each pen stroke, which can make it really hard to read sometimes. I use a MacBook Pro. I know Boox, text (or read) mode is great for the scanned images. It is very clear. Questions: Is the Dasung text (or read) mode as good as the Boox’s? Is the Bigme text (or read) mode as good as the Boox’s? Does the Bigme “flash” on and off on video mode? Does the Bigme “flash” on and off on text (or read) mode? Thank you so much if you’re able to answer.
I don't really use the Mira on my Mac because of its flickering issue with the M1 chip. As far as I know the text mode and read mode in the Mira are two very different modes. Text mode is a high contrast mode, suitable for reading fax quality scan documents or just black and white texts. The Read mode is more for images that show details. So I assume you meant the Read Mode or the similar Image Mode in the Mira? The drawback of these two mode is the heavy ghosting if there is any movement on the screen.
Good to know-it sounds like I mean Read Mode. I’m curious if your Dasung and Bigme Read Modes are both excellent (like, where a scanned image is super clear and shows every detail pretty much like an LCD monitor)? And if so, which monitor has the better Read Mode, the Dasung or the Bigme...?@@serige
@@cpet3589 The Bigme monitor has a Picture mode that is supposedly for displaying crisp images (at the expense of having a bit more ghosting whenever there is screen movement). And this is what you are looking for. But so far I know there are 2 major issues with this monitor, one is the mouse lag, another one is their Picture mode implementation on this monitor is buggy (it flashes even with no movement). So I won't be able to answer your question which one is better. Also I don't know if the Dasung color e-ink monitor has a dedicate image mode, you should ask on reddit to confirm this. However, I know the image mode on my Bigme Inknote+ is really really good, it's better than the Read mode on the Mira. I am hoping there will be a firmware update that fixed the picture mode issue along with the lag. We will see. Regarding to one of your early questions, the video mode doesn't flash but I think we are still 2 or 3 generations away from having an enjoyable video consumption experience on an e-ink monitor ;)
@@serige Hi Serige-it sounds like the Bigme Picture Mode flashing issue would be a problem for me. Good to know! Picture Mode or Read Mode (on a monitor) is what I want for my job. I’d also like to use the Read Mode for personal things like desktop filing-but I’m thinking it might be frustrating when every time you drag a file across your desktop you’d need to refresh ghosting. Regarding the Dasung color monitor having a Read Mode--you’re right, I need to make sure it does. That said, I’m assuming if Dasung color has a Read Mode, it would be a lot like the black and white Dasung’s Read Mode. Not sure if you’re into it-but if you’re ever using your Dasung, and you feel like checking out the Read Mode to see if it’s as crisp and clear as the Boox Mira’s Read Mode and want to let me know-that would be amazing. I’m considering buying the Dasung color monitor… Thanks again for your reply:)
@@cpet3589Hi, they released a new firmware update today to address the mouse lag issue. I would say the monitor is a lot more useable now. The picture mode under Windows 11 is perfect now, with no flashing whatsoever if you have static contents. But the picture mode flashing is still present in my M1 macbook pro. Hopefully the next firmware will address that.
Are you using an M1 Mac on this video?
E-ink technology has gone so far in the last 12 years. I still remember my Kindle back from college days, that took 5 seconds just to update the screen.
I'm interested un buying Onyx Mira monitor 13.3 inch for m'y job but at work we are using old computers with the old VGA ouput port. My question is will this monitor work by using VGA to mini HDMI convertor adapter or there are restrictions? Do you know the answer at this question?
Keep in mind that this monitor has 2200х1650 resolution. It may be a problem for you old PC with old video card. Fo instance I was forced to replace my weak video card to support this resolution.
Which is better dasung or mira?
So which do you prefer? Which one do you find yourself using more often?
Are u Happy with the product, thinking of buying it
Can the contrast on the Mira be changed to match the Dasung?
That is a meaty sounding keyboard. What is it?
there are different settings. Darker and lighter. For Dasung, the darker the image, the slower it is. This test means nothing. I think Onyх Boox Mira will lose in contrast.
This is something that is great for people who need to use their laptops out in the bright sunlight, or for people who have eye problems when looking at normal LCD screens. Other than that, it's not all that important a thing for most consumers.
This video is awesome! They both seem so close to each other. The Mira doesn't seem to have as deep of a black color, but there is also a glare on the screen that the Dasung doesn't have. As far as I can tell they are the same. Only 4 frames behind the LCD!
I just saw someone made a comparison video between BOOX Mira and DASUNG Eink Monitor Paperlike HD, it seems that DASUNG EINK Monitor is faster. ua-cam.com/video/MFPuzVz4-Xk/v-deo.html
could you upload a testvideo in which you show the comparison with a video with 60fps (maybe some documentary) because on the anime it's hard to display the smoothness.
I think I was trying to do that at some point and I had the video half way done. I will definitely upload a vid if I can manage to have more time to get it done.
How is text quality compare to onyx Lumi on normal mode, does it have the same quality?
Wow how were u able to get the monitor so quick. Where did u buy it from?
I got it from here: item.jd.com/10031496972785.html but I would highly recommend you know or understand basic Chinese before you buy or have a friend who knows Chinese to help you to make the purchase if you really want one now. I also don't recommend using google translate.
@@serige thank you
@@serige its now available on boox shop btw
@@einkereaderlovers4069 That's great! I didn't know they were able to get it out so quick! People can buy one without having to making risky purchases from Chinese e-commerce sites (albeit I paid around $780 for the unit included shipping). Thanks for the heads up!
@@serige welcome. and wow thats a good deal man. Much cheaper than the intl version. Nice.
hard to tell which is better
Just to confirm: dasung is the left one, boox Mira is the right one correct?
Yes. Mira is white

@@johndumpling1896 :)
The video on Mira looks stable. Is there flickering that does not translate on video but is there when you look at it in real life?
Which one is which?
Black is dasung
From manga video, it looks like the left one has better contrast ratio / black.
It is adjustable
Why can't they make 25 inches screen cheaper so that everyone can afford it... stupid marketing techniques... which gives them a loss practically
Because this is bleding edge tecnology! Wait 10 years and you will have 25 inches monitors for the same prices as LCD monitors. These are the first EVER 25" eink monitors. You barely had a generation of 13" eink monitors. Prior to that, no monitors, just ereaders. You can't expect new tech to be developed and sold cheap like mature tech.
Boox is good!
I took a screenshot from the video and found the mouse on the Dasung monitor first appear "black ghosting", indicating that Dasung has lower latency and faster speed!
Yes dasung is faster
From the comparison of the video display, obviously Dasung is much faster than Mira, the image shows on dasung firstly, I can tell the refresh rate of dasung is faster and contrast is better.
That appears to be the case here, but there are different display modes you can choose in both devices to adjust for your needs.
Which one is better? I'm planning to buy one of them.
Dasung is better.
Boox is good
I would say there is not a huge difference between them. I can easily use one instead of another without too much issue. However the Mira is a lot cheaper and has a better design than the Dasung imo.
@@serige Thank you for sincere answer!
Amazing! thank you so much! I have the impression that the video seems much more fluid on the Mira than on the Dasung, even though contrast seems much better on latter. I guess this maybe the tradeoff that needed to be done:-)
Yes, I wouldn't say the Mira is better than the Dasung but given the Mira's price point, it is definitely a great option besides the Dasung. On the other hand, if you already have a Dasung, there is no need to sell it and get the Mira.
@@serige If you don't consider price, which is better? It was hard to tell. They both seemed amazingly fast with no lag? Do you get a lag? I have a Max2, and I gave up on using it as as second screen because of the lag time. From what I saw, it seemed the Dasung had better contrast, but the Mira was slightly faster with the Mouse and with typing. I could be wrong, and I couldn't tell with the video. Since you are one of the few people who have them both, I would love more commentary from you. Also, do they both have front lights? How are the front lights?
where is lec 1 ?
