Magic, I think your voice so well suited to a gentle Finzi setting rather than Britten's. Please a 2nd cd of baroque love songs, soon, am old, can't wait long!

Reminds me of the story of someone who, overcome, fled a recital by the great Irish tenor John McCormack a century or so ago. He was found outside the hall, and said "The words! The damnable clarity of the words!"

Amen <3 Ι was raised southern baptist (which I only recently started to appreciate their musical tradition, since I had a lot of trauma getting in the way...) but I always hoped they'd sing Bach and Handel instead of some of the "traditional hymns". I'm not a musician as much any more, but Bach and the Baroque is still v much a huge part of my life. It's what got me on the road to my doctorate in comparative literature, in that first music theory class I was one of two people who raised their hands saying they loved Bach. Everyone else groaned, found him boring, and the two of us who had raised our hands were shocked and appalled! how can music majors dislike Bach?! On the first day?! I mean, I'd considered doing an all Bach program, but my health took me away from the piano. Now I'm a lit major. I still listen, though.

You have such a beautiful, natural warmth to your tone. I love how you transition betweein between chest and head so seamlessly and graciously. I could never master that. But, i turned 60 in March 2023, and I think I am going to work on it again. I feel my voice more now, I think. Huh..?... "the singing at sixty project." Sounds like an idea. Thanks for sharing your song with us!

Absolutely love it! I discovered this music through the poetry of Piero Heliczer who has a poem (a sequence of a long poem) called "Buxtehude" and when I typed in "Quemadmodum desiderat cervus" I came upon this song. Thanks very much for sharing this wonderful performance. I feel like I have stepped back in time to the medieval era.
