I discovered OPR after seeing a youtube video about how some 40k players are moving to it. Funny thing is, in my small town, one of the board members lives near me. We've been running demos here and it's catching on fast. I wanted to support the people here who want to play 40k but I can't bring myself to begin collecting the books.

OPR has done one thing, made it clear how easy it is to innovate. At this point I'm actually just considering making my own wargame. Use OPR as the base, add some flavor rules, out my DM skills to work and make a world, and then just play with friends through TTS. Probably going to suck but hey, should be fun.

this is what scares me. Ive just got into the painting side of the hobby and one day i might even try to play. But the idea that i could spend $1000-2000 on an army that gets legacy vaulted in a year is WILD.

Warhammer is already ruined, kept alive by a ton of people who complain how expensive everything is and how many new editions, supporting army books etc etc..... OPR is always going to be better simply due to the fact the companies involved give a shit about their customer base and make fighting a battle fun rather than an encyclopedia of rules...

onepagerules is really saves the hobby imo

It's so funny because OPR feels so much like 3rd or 4th edition. So I guess that means GW ruined the game themselves if people are choosing to go back and play an new(old) edition. And I had the same experience with 40k vs OPR. I just wasnt really having fun playing 9th and 10th vs the fun of 0PR 3.0

I been honest i don't like to much the designe of OPR model, some models of GW are awesome and still is, but i don't play WH anyways i usethem to play RPG and some OPR also Trenche Cruzade or Turnip42

10:43 you just add 3 dice for the commander as he has tough 3. Any 1's go on the regular guys first. After that you are stunned.

I found OPR to be completely and utterly boring. The units all feel the exact same across the board.

I also thought onepagerules was exceptional its simple, it cuts down tons of dice rolling and it doesn't make playing matches feel like a headache the switching between turns is also exceptional

I like opr, but the rules are bit too simple, and I'd like them to do a type of 40k detachment rules or something to build your army around for different play styles or even get extra bonuses for taking xyz with abc units. I have built every combat patrol list for opr, and all the pts lined up to 1600 pts, but now all the pts are much higher, and they don't add up to anything close, unless I add everything to 2k pts by adding more of the same units or more upgrades. Also I play on tts.

I'm trying to get into this hobby but it's so expensive and I am very confused and I haven't even played a game so everybody's like use the rule of cool. Well everything looks cool in this game and then they're like well then pick based on your playstyle. I don't know what my play style is for Warhammer cuz I haven't actually played so then when I'm trying to figure out what playstyle I might like. Everything's so complicated with list building and point values and it's like I don't understand. I'm so lost. I'm so confused. I don't even know where to start. Obviously I need rule books but yeah it's very overwhelming and especially with the cost per entry. I don't want to spend a ton of money for something I might not even end up liking and then I'm stuck with all these mayonnaise that I guess I'd have to build dioramas and give us gifts or something

When you consider that somewhere in the neighborhood of 40% of people who buy WH ever play the game I don't see how outside influence can ruin the game. GW has cumbersome rules because rules are way down the list of ways to increase profit

Great job! Did you change any sizes of prints? The Beholder models are much larger than OPR.

First video of the year, and I love this Hobby Retrospective! Seeing the sprawl of printed minis reminds me of my own hobby projects that need work, and it's actually weirdly validating to realize OPR is vast enough for its to acquire metaphorical "piles of shame". But I think you have the right mindset, which is "they are projects to be excited about, not shame to be resolved!" I can't wait to see them all slowly acquire their paint! Special shoutout to the Elven Fleet & Space Dwarves! And can't wait for more videos! Happy New Year!

How is it even possible? Why didn't One Page Rulez get sued by GW? It's sooo very much alike, how can this be legal?

Another suggestion for playing top tier armies is that if you know your friend or other player plays a bottom tier army, then play with enough of your army's lower tier units to balance the game out. Or give the other player extra points to spend or other bonuses during the game.

Play kings of war. All your old empire models are good and it’s a far better rank and flank game that WH or old world

I’ve been in a rut for years and many of my paints have dried up owning to personal stuff, overbuying and drowning in new 40k rules and updates. I’m getting my mojo back having discovered one page rules.

How weird... youtube is deleting/hiding my critcism of GW....

Its not only the absurd pricing, but how dishonest GW is with its customers. It never feels like you are actually treated as a customer by them... only as a talking walking wallet. GW is also very hostile towards fan projects and many a project had to stop ( if the emperor had a text to speech machine series for example) out of fear that GW will sue them. Then there was the finecast debacle back in the day, the constant updating making rule books outdated 3 months after you buy them etc. In short: Games workshop does not value their players and customers at all.

I’d rather blame GW for allowing the faceless money people to take over, lock, stock and barrel.

GW is the reason I don't play GW games I stopped playing 40k with the release of 2nd version because the IGYG format is garbage.
