Jake Owen Shout Out to SES 5th Grade 2021
Переглядів 693 роки тому
Vero Beach native, occasional Jesus Christ look-a-like, and country music vocalist, Jake Owen, shouts out the Sebastian Elementary Sea Turtles for their hard work during the pandemic-stricken 2020-2021 school year. SES greatly appreciates the time Mr. Owen spent to shout out our little sea turtles and thanks him for the hits he's written. Speaking of hits, hit a hole-in-one for us, Jakey!
Bill Hader discusses cut Casey Kasem sketch with Kevin Pollak
Переглядів 973 тис.4 роки тому
Former SNL great, Bill Hader, describes a cut sketch he starred in on Saturday Night Live featuring Dana Carvey, who played famed radio broadcaster, Casey Kasem
Too young of an audience. I’m 40 and kind of on the end of the people who would understand this reference. Probably would have killed had it been dueling Seacrests, but I don’t think the studio has a big enough toolbox to hold them on stage
👍
15 years to late probably.
You folks ever hear a comedian blame the crowd? They say things like 'wow, thats a dead crowd out there tonight'. This is 100% proof that there is such a thing as a dead crowd because they are humourless idiots. Sometimes the crowd is a group of mouth breathing morons who think rich little is the height of comedy. To not have this sketch kill shows you what can happen when performing art for morons.
The real Casey Kasem wanted to be a serious actor -- BAD. But the huge bucks from DJ-ing was hard for him to walk away from. His love for his (2nd, 3rd?) wife Jean Kasem was about the purest affection I have ever seen. She was in a pro Acting workshop and Casey would come and just audit -- watching her do scenes, etc... he'd often talk with students (like me) and his knowledge of and respect for the greats in the Theater world was impressive, He knew all of Tennessee Williams plays and those of William Inge, Arthur Miller and Edward Albee. His working knowledge of the Stanislavsky system, the Group Theater and even Boleslavsky was similar to that of a busy serious Actor. Very sharp guy...
I haven't laughed that hard in months.
This is what they need to do for the 50th, sketches that didn't air but should've.
I think it was just a bad audience at the dress rehearsal.
“Here’s a letter”. Omg😂
I use that resounding "NO" whenever I need it.
Kevin appears to be aging into Kim Coates
I would have loved to see this skit come to fruition.
I spit out my water listening to this 😂
Lorne still should have done it. The dress audience is not the same as the taping. That audience was obviously brain dead.
This seems like an excellent candidate for Seth Meyers "Second Chance Theater" on Late Night!!
I watch this clip a few times every year and it still makes me angry that they weren't able to get this on the air because of a terrible dress rehearsal audience.
Not funny at all so yeah I can understand
but you’re a little crap guy, so who cared what you think? you can’t even afford a profile picture
Matteo. God, this is so great. His Mickey Rooney is funny, too, even though he's doing Dana Carvey doing Mickey Rooney.
that sounds like an awesome sketch! i think mr. lorne michaels missed out on that one!
If it bombed in dress rehearsal, the decision was made for him, wouldn't you agree?
@@codymoe4986 not necessarily. i have heard many times from cast members that the dress audience is different from actual so the reactions are different. will ferrell for one said that they did a sketch that killed at dress and when they were live, crickets. by the way bill described this one, i cant imagine everyone not laughing. imo of course.
I’m wondering if the another cast mate told the audience not to laugh…as a joke…and it backfired
You don't think that would have slipped out after such a popular sketch bombed?
@ by now, probably…but it would have been an awesome prank
When I think of all the dud sketches that made it to air, but this didn't, it seems almost criminal. But, like he said: you just don't know.
"Son, I want nothing to do with you." That's all I needed to hear to know this sketch should have happened.
We need a Second Chance Theatre segment for this one. Call Seth!
I’m crying
This sounds like the funniest thing I’ve ever heard 😂
Well, the story of that sketch is great😂. Too bad we won’t ever actually see the sketch.
They had no interment knowledge of Casey
Here’s Dana doing Casey: ua-cam.com/video/kNMzAcsPp44/v-deo.htmlsi=Pp2GA3CsOKyzqdz4
Now...here's a letter... LMFAO
I can only assume that it's a generational thing and there were just too few people in the audience who know and love Casey Kasem at that point. It's like doing a killer Burt Lancaster impression.
Well youre expecting an SNL audience to get it but forget the audeience reactions at dress rehearsal, those people are mongoloids.
SNL film some fake ads and whatnot. They should immediately just film this. No guise of a fake movie or biography. Just a filmed sketch. This one's for the comics.
Excellent 👍. Fo wo mi
Just distracting ourselves. Follow. Special Ed ned
Funny
Wow he does an amazingly good Casey kasem
at least we have this interview I guess….
This sketch, while absolutely hilarious to those of us of a certain age was probably about 10 years too late.
"Son, you must have mistaken our house for a pile of cocaine."
This needs to be an episode of Seth's Second Chance Theater
You probably needed to explain who Casey Kasim is
I doubt explaining it would work...the guy was a radio icon to many of us, but not to them. You can't really recreate nostalgia, only experience it for yourself...
If your studio audience is completely turned off, that can be a good sign.
What a lame audience for not seeing the comedic genius in that. Had i been there, you would have heard one guy laughing loud enough for them to keep in the show.
I want to see this sketch done
It died because it’s not even funny as he’s describing it here .In my opinion.
It died because of a generational gap...Kasem began hosting the original American Top 40 on the weekend of July 4, 1970, and remained there until 1988. Most of that audience wasn't even alive in 1970. Just saying...I was crying laughing while watching. It doesn't mean it's not funny, it means you simply don't have a frame of reference for the type of humor being attempted... P.S. Remember that humor, like art, is subjective...
It died because most SNL skits aren't really that funny and they always go on WAY too long. Nothing to do with age or demographics. A man slipping and falling in a mud puddle in a 100 year old movie is as funny now as it was back then. Hader can't accept that the skit was a one trick pony that expired after the first minute or so. You win some, you lose some.
I’m going to guess this sketch bombed because while Bill’s Casey Kasem impression is spot on Dana’s is a little off.
Even Bill would challenge you on that one...
Dana and Bill are both great impressionists, but their approaches are different. Dana does more of a caricature of that person rather than a spot-on personification like Bill does. Bill's Alan Alda is so good. I've never heard any other person do that one.
As funny as this is, I don't think anything will top the Stern show prank call of Casey Kasem to a Chinese restaurant. GOLD.
This skit NEEDS to be on Second Chance Theater
Oh God I'm CRYING! That's the perfect Kasem cadence and Caseyisms used in regular banal conversation. Hilarious. Duelling Kasems.
