Great session with very insightful tips from Dominik.
Hi, I have listened to many interviews with players and coaches over the years, but this one, must rate as one of the most deeply revealing wisdom I’ve ever heard. I will re listen and share with others, take notes, and try to implement some of this wisdom into my own game. Well done guys, keep up your good work, Cheers, Charlie, from cloudy grey sky London , England ☁️
Great discussion. Thanks for sharing.
Meddy will win U S open this year
Djokovic doesn't deserve any credits given what draw he had. He wouldn't pass the second round if he had draw like Alcaraz or Sinner. That is why he crumbled in the finals and why we didn't get an epic five-setter but instead got brutal trashing. Not saying it was not good - it was brilliant.
thank you for the Daria importance to Iga
Iga is a gifted athlete, an individual with real high IQ- was on mathematically talented program in school.
1G4 is overall fantastic on and off court, yes. And a very pro team around her was built too. ...have you found Iga is not reading the game very well, some (too many) finishing (could be finishing) shots are placed in a wrong direction means into a place where opponent is still there... do you also have this observation...? cheers
Carlos has an exceptionally high tennis IQ and is a wonderfully well rounded human being. I love his charisma and ability to smile and put behind him mistakes and move forward. I always get a sense of forward momentum with him, no resignation. He fights for what he wants and because of this he's amassing spectacular achievements at such a young age. He's also created a foundation in his local community to help children develop socially and emotionally through movement, play and sports. In an age where so much of our interactions are behind a keyboard this is remarkable. Needless to say he's my favorite in the ATP. He's loved all over the world. Tennis is not the same without him.
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 EXCEPTIONAL BRAVO!
Great podcast, enjoyed this ep!
Liking and subscribing from North Carolina! Love the content ❤
well done guys🎾
Swiatek hasn't figured Rybakina out yet, true, but I disagree that she's being thrown around by Sabalenka. If anything, it's the other way around, and when Sabalenka wins, it's usually hard-fought. When I watch them play, I can't really see Sabalenka winning unless Iga has a bad day.
37:25 Nadal "showed Djokovic the way to succeed": Nadal didn't beat Djokovic on grass since 2008. And didn't take a SET from Djokovic on hard courts since 2013. Definitively "showed Djokovic the way".
Thank you for your comment and for listening to the show. To be clear, in that segment of the episode, we were simply paraphrasing what Djokovic has said many times over the years, and even more since Nadal's recent announcement about his final year in 2024. We were not expressing an opinion on Nadal's influence on Novak's development. Only Novak knows who the important influences in his life have been, and so if he says that Nadal was impactful on his career, we are willing to take him at his word.
Listening / watching for the first time :)
Really enjoyed this master class. Lots of great tips for players at all levels. Josh's between point routines are something we all can incorporate into our matches. Brian's comment about the most important point in a tennis match being the next point is spot on and I've started to carry my racket in my non-dominant hand between points! Thanks for the master class! Look forward to future classes!
Thank you for the comment, Bruce!
Thank you both so much for constantly pushing out these great discussions! This is easily one the most underrated and helpful tennis resources on the internet. You guys are awesome!
Hey Hunter, Thank you very much for the kind words. We really appreciate that!
Thank Josh and Brain for such a great episode. The messages from Nick Saviano are awesome. If you listen carefully to what he is saying you will learn so much about what the sport of tennis is about, what life is about, and the importance of being a good, honest, and hardworking person. Thank you again for giving us such a valuable yet free education with top-class tennis coaches.
Hello, it's my first time on this channel and I think it has a lot of potential, but I also have one well-intentioned criticism. Split the video into several clearly separated topics, because this one was too mixed up without deep analysis, Greetings from Belgrade from new subscriber
Djokovic and Nadal have to duke it out this now fake GOAT race. Fake from the last year's AO. After Djokovic retires the Spaniard, the proper way, like he did Fed, these kids will get their chances. Djokovic and Nadal have some unfinished business, and as long as that is the case, im sorry, but as long as they play they will be the top 2 players bearing an injury or something. Some kids just won't make it the way it was expected of them.I know this is difficult for some to hear, Tsitsipas is not that special. Let's face it. Very good player, a great work ethic, but not more special than Alcaraz, Rune, Sinner or some other players. So, he just has to accept it and make the most of it. He probably should consider himself blessed if he would have a Wawrinka-like career. Let alone, Djokovic. Djokovic is a special talent and also worked hard. It's just the reality of life. Be the best you can be, don't try to be someone else.

Thx guys for covering mental aspect of the sport at this detail... Ur insights are really helpful for an aspiring tennis player. 👏
Morning Gents, it’s charlie from london. This was a truly great show! As I listened to all you said, and reflected on my own 40years of playing tennis, the one thought that kept coming into my head is this- at which stage or age in your life can this topic resonate and actually have the meaning that you are trying to convey. In the past 2 years I have embraced this continuous learning philosophy into my tennis/life, and am enjoying the game more then ever! However, “ youth is wasted on the young”, and in our culture, the growing up process encourages to place winning as a priority, but as you get older, more experienced, hopefully more mature, less ego driven, then this topic can resonate more, as you get to know yourself better, you can make decisions on what you want to do, as opposed to what is expected of you. Of all the online tennis shows, I feel that yours is the only one that truly gets to the heart of the subject of what drives human beings, and I look forward to more similar topics in the future. Seasons greetings to you and your listeners, cheers, Charlie
Thanks Charlie, we always appreciate your support and perspective! I'm glad to hear that embracing continuous learning has led to your increased enjoyment of the game these past two years. It often takes people a while to gain this perspective, fortunately or unfortunately, so I agree that often it is the more seasoned and experienced players who share that perspective and "buy in" to embracing and prioritizing learning rather than just focusing on winning and losing. Seasons greetings to you and your family! - Josh
Hi guys, it’s charlie from london. Really enjoyed your interview with Max. My question is- l love playing and training tennis, but in my day job, I’m a Dentist . Dentistry is known to be stressful to both patient and Dentist. Can you tell me specific ways you think that FocusCalm can help me as a tennis player, and also to try and relax my patients and myself ? How can I contact Max? Cheers , Charlie
Hi Charlie, Thank you for your question! I think FocusCalm is first of all a great way to build self-awareness about how your mind works (wandering and thinking vs. intentional attention) and learning to appreciate the space between - the space between your inhale and exhale, the space between your thoughts, the space between stimulus and action. When you cultivate that space between in a more focused and calm manner, you learn to be calmer in various circumstances. You'll be able to handle difficult situations with more equanimity (balanced mind). Does that make sense to you? If you want to get in touch with someone at BrainCo, send us an email and we'll try to make some arrangements. Cheers, Brian
Brilliant episode, I like how objective you are towards the players and how you analyse the game on a deeper level
Hi , great show, well done, both of your wisdom is rich in depth and experience! For me , the takeaway is: “the Truth about Winning is knowing how to Lose APPROPRIATELY”, and “ FORGET IT ; NEXT SHOT”!! Chat soon, cheers, Charlie from London
Thanks Charlie, we appreciate the kind words and the question you asked! -Josh
Love Elena! so happy she won!
Hi, you mentioned Nick’s self harm history, what we witnessed in the 3rd set, at 4-4, and serving 40-0, was exactly that, self destruct, for no reason other then inner demons, what a shame, it was there to possibly win, but again he “ self harmed”, one wonders if he can overcome or handle his demons, maybe a bit of Zen training could be useful, he’s got it all, except for that extra mental toughness that all great champions must have!, cheers, Charlie
Novak is the best server returner ever .. not just now.
The Truth about Winning is knowing how to lose appropriately!! And that’s why Tennis for me/ us is such a great metaphor for life! Cheers from sunny London , Wimbledon at its best, can’t wait for Novak v Nick, a mouth watering prospect, let’s hope it’s a classic!! 🎾
Thank you, Charles!
Iga had her birthday on 31st of May. Iga won RG at the age of 19. Can you see happening to Coco in one year time, I mean winning the first GS, any of them? Truly speaking, the platform of Swiatek, the team behind her is very special.
Coco and Rudd time will certainly come thanks for being kind to them with positive feedback .
Great and positive out look in general 👌
Love this deep dive of the mind!
I love listening you every time Rafa wins a new Grand Slam, love from Spain ❤️🇪🇦
Yes.
The most important thing in tennis is strength ,Nole' now is 34 yrs old ,compare to 19yrs old Alcaraz,so Nole' cannot defeat Alcaraz &Tsittsipas.
You guys helped me out so much I can’t explain
I only started listening on Spotify a couple days ago and it has helped me so much in so little time
I made it to the quarters and beat the number 1 seed after losing the first set when I had two set points missing EASY shots, i lost that set but then I won the next set 6-0 and won the super tiebreak 10-8 with an ace at 8-8
In the semis I versed the 6 seed and he felt unbeatable I lost the first set 6-1 then I won the second set 6-4 but due to injuries I lost the super tiebreak 10-1
I’m 15 btw
It’s the best I’ve ever done in a high level tournament and I feel so confident to do better in the next ones
Hi, I'm Samuel a budding tennis player. I started listening to your podcasts last week. It was so helpful I had to download the 79 episodes, I'm currently in episode 6 and I just want to say thank you.
Hey thanks for posting this video, it really helps me go through and understand what's happening during my tennis games. Your channel is still relatively low in comparison with the quality of advice you guys give. Thanks for posting this video!
Rafa is not a person because a person can have answers. Rafa is a rare phenomenon - a wondrous mystery of humanity, humility and heart that transcends surgeries, definitions, goals, records. Remember again and again that Rafa has played the least number of Grand Slams compared to his peers, most number of injuries and zero rackets smashed. There's no answer. ❤️😇🙏
Someone asked us these questions for which we have no answers as our tennis IQ and EQ are astonishingly inadequate. 1. Did Novak really have COVID? 2. How many Grand Slams has Rafa appeared in comparison to Roger and Novak? 3. Is Novak's French Open in 2021 or Rafa's Australian Open 2022 sweeter or bitter depending on where your heart lies?
Great overview of a fantastic AO- thanks!
Seems like show is more about Medvedev interactions with crowd than anything. That really shouldn't be the storyline and both people need to improve in this regard. And federer cannot be called the second best clay courter with/without rafa. You cannot put Federer in front of Bjorn Borg and Novak Djokovic in terms of clay court achievements. On a side note, insights on fatigue management were pretty cool
Nadal Is The King! Full stop.
Nadal can go strength to strength from here.
Hoping Rafa can keep vamosing through the year. In any case, this second AO title is a huge get for him.
Awe-inspiring, empowering, inspirational, gut-wrenching, nerve-wracking, epic, and gladiatorial. Such a fitting victory of Nadal in the AO 2022 Final. Rafa being the Real Champion and GOAT On and Off the Court. Kudos and Bravo for GS#21, the GOAT, Rafael Nadal.
9:00 that is VERY untrue.
I misspoke, she is the second female player after Serena to win her first three grand slams on all three surfaces. Thanks for noticing! - Josh
