...don't let deer eat your Vegetable Garden
I just purchased some fruit trees from Madison Greenhouse, and you're absolutely correct about not letting fruit trees fruit. Madison recommends not letting them fruit for 2-3 years to let the trees concentrate on growing. It's tough to do but necessary for the growth of the tree. Good video 😊
No issues at all with peat, perlite and coco
…also when it comes to sulfur, quick lime and when I use strong or quick acting acidity, I usually don’t plant anything in the soil for 3-6 months and I will test it repeatedly before planting anything. Anything quick acting needs to be carefully used in most cases.
I have peat moss / perlite / coco coir / fast acting Lime / worm castings and soil sulfur are these ok to mix in the soil for a repotted tree?
Can u provide more info on why repotting and age, size & health of ur lemon tree
Btw…the reason I no longer have used the chelated spray is because I haven’t had ph soil issues for quite a long time now. The following spring after I did spray….i replanted all my blueberry plants with new potting mix soil. I used a ratio of 40% new peat moss mixed with 60% miracle grow potting mix. I then checked my ph levels daily for a few weeks with no issues. I now continually add/work-in & mix new peat moss to the top couple inches of my blueberry plants every couple of weeks. Also, instead of using blueberry fertilizer pellets, I water my blueberry pots with hydroponic water fertilizer. It seems to do wonders and more quick reaction to all my fruit trees & blueberry plants
…let me know if that turns things around. If not you may need to dig up and redo the soil. I ll explain more once I have a moment. I’m flying out overseas tomorrow and will be unavailable for a few days. Keep me posted.
Todd you have no idea how much this means to me thank you so much for this in depth explanation im all the way in a small state in USA called West Virginia in the mountains. Im going to do exactly as you said! Ill be back with an update.
Lay some more peat moss down and work the top 2 inches of the soil. Light spray the top until the water soaks in so that the peat moss doesn’t wash away. Next use the liquid chelated and spray your leaves.
Hey do you still use the fertilome chelated iron? or should I use the non chelated version. Im so confused on which to use. Ive got mine in nothing but peat moss, pine bark mulch, and added some soil acidifier, and some powdered sulfur and a little fertilizer (epsoma berry tone) They still are dieing. Soil ph is reading about 6.0
…another question, you have some regular soil mixed in with the pine mulch & peat moss?
@@toddripcity7878 Yes I have some but not alot of it black kow .5 .5 .5 NPK manure/compost
Does dill do okay in hot summer heat or best to plant in cooler season like cilantro?
…the bigger issue is that hot weather and too much direct sunlight will speed up the bolting/flowering process. You want to keep it from flowering as long as possible. Maybe a partial shady location or area of ur garden that gets less direct sunlight & has a bit of a breeze/airflow if that’s possible
Oh, my goodness. I wish the nurseries put some of this info on the seedling labels. No wonder mine have turned up their toes in no time at all. I'll start again from scratch in the morning. Thank you!
where do you buy the white cloth to cover the dill?
Variety of places over the years. In the past , Ace hardware, Amazon, dollar stores, garden stores
EXCEPT FOR.... THOSE DUMB PH READERS ALWAYS SAY 7.5 . 😃NO MATTER WHAT! Show me your afterwards. Reading or prove otherwise. And who needs a light reader? Just open your eyes. Those things are such a load of BS
You have some nice fruit set on your Fuji tree. Do you spray your apples at all with fungicides or pesticides?
Yes, after last frost, I spray Horticultural Oil & Dormant spray. Then 3 weeks later, I spray 1x with Copper fungicide. Then beyond that only Neem oil
This was the video I needed the leaves match exactly Thank You
Good info
My comment is more helpful 👍🏻
I am from Pakistan are we buy this product
Do you have the stem pushed down to the bottom in that inch of water or just in the perlite above the water ❓
Not too deep…left room for new growth of roots
So it goes from perlite to soil pretty easy?
Yes, never had any issues
Good draining soil. Don’t water daily…think deep water but infrequent unless summertime. Don’t let soul dry out but not constantly damp. U should invest in a water meter stick. And if using good soil…fertilizer not needed
Make sure to cover seeds and tap lightly…absolutely no air pockets.
I ll put a bro together this season on that ;)
Todd, thanks for the tip re: not covering the seeds or just lightly sprinkling a little soil over 50% of seeds when sowing; also advice about how to water, and no fertilizer necessary!
Todd, thanks for the advice about pinching the early buds on the tomatoes to allow the plant to better establish itself. Makes perfect sense. I also like how you share advice for different growing methods - hydroponic, in ground, containers, etc. I’m going to check out your other videos- I’m curious about your styrofoam container hydroponic system. I hope you have a video about how to set such up such a system
If they’re traditional pots…the deep the better, especially if u r growing things like tomatoes & bell peppers. Not as important on herbs or smaller items. I have transitioned & invested in “aeropots / grow pots” so those type of pots tend to lessen the circling of roots. If u r unaware of Air pots…check them out ;)
Thanks for your quick response. I’ve tried to grow herbs, without much success. I think it is the way I’ve approached it, planting herb seeds like I do other veg seeds - 1 to 2 seeds per hole. I’m thinking your method of scattering a bunch of seeds at once might be a game changer. I garden at 7,000 feet in semi arid conditions (which is challenging in itself), using the square foot method. If that doesn’t work this season, I think I’ll try your method using a pot next season. I do like the idea of being able to move the pot around to provide better growing conditions when the season heats up too much. Cheers.
Hi Todd, thanks for sharing this video. I'm wondering, how deep are the pots you used?
I do not understand. Other channels say to thin the seeds 12-18 inches apart, and others don't seem to thin the seeds at all. I do not know if i should thin my dill seedlings.
Let me clarify appropriately: if you have limited seeds and/or want to have consistent harvest throughout the season and you want to also harvest the seeds at the end of the season - then you would want to thin out your crop of dill and keep the strongest of your dill. Also, in locations where you get damp or moist environment which may cause mildew or mold conditions, you would thin out your dill to allow for better air flow circulation. In my particular case, I have lots of excess seeds and plenty of buckets and locations to plant bunch growing of dill, so In my situation i bunch grow my dill, harvest the lot while it is not fully grown for canning purposes and immediate use for cooking.
@@toddripcity7878 Thank you for the response: In my situation, i’m growing dill indoors in a 8inch diameter pot under a grow light. I don’t plan on transplanting them at any point. I’d like to maximize yield. How, if at all, should i thin them? They are just now developing true leaves
Indoors given you are using only an 8” pot consider only thinking 2-4 inches. When I’m growing my dill outdoors I thin about a foot apart because I let my dill flower and collect the seeds at the end of the season. In larger pots indoors , I tend to thin about 6-10 inches apart. U should do both ways. This ur pot 2-4 inches apart and try another pot without thining - bunch growing and see given your pot size, indoor situation, grow light which method works best
When you grow dill in pots, it doesn’t like to be watered overhead?
Correct, but more importantly to just get the sweet spot… still needs semimoist soil. Think good drainage. Avoid yellow leaves. Consider using a watering stick to know when to warer
Look, how big is
24K patient people watched this boring video, which made me not to grow dill anymore.
Dill in a pot makes your house smell amazing.
very nice market have a nice shopping
Yes, very nice international market. Some of my expat co-workers/friends do all their shopping there
Thailand?
Yes, Lauren - Land of Smiles ;)
Is there any other herbs that you do this dense seeding method?
Sometimes do to spacing issues when overseas @ the condo , I will do with most herbs and even basil. Regardless of location/spacing , i will do regularly with dill, cilantro and parley and any other herbs that are similar
Very helpful. Thank you!
Just buy a forty lb bag olime , quit being so damn chintzy 😮😮😮😮 f j b 😊
I added a whole package of dill seed into a fairly big pot, it is way big, like bigger that yours, and now I am not sure how to harvest, the stems are very thin and fragile? I just don't know how is is best to harvest or cut back so I can get some strong stems???
Are the stems falling about? Cut the tops and use and allow it to grow again. Don’t cut more than 1/3 of each stem…to allow for it to grow back. Is your dill getting enough sunlight and nutrients?
WTF is "CHELATATED IRON"......🙄🤷♂......??????
…simple answer, an Iron Solution in liquid form that helps it bond with the plant that is iron deficient
@@thailandexpat7948 no such word....sorry 👨🎓
Nice.
Very helpful informative video 🌱
Thanks for your excellent tutorial. I would like to ask, I bought some dill plants the other day at a nursery and they had the yellow flowers on them. What does this mean? Are they at the end of their growing cycle, should I cut them off, should I return them? Thanks very much.
Yes….it is starting to flower…not a great situation if you want to continue to harvest the dill/foliage for use. The plant will focus its energy on flowering and setting seed. I would return and get one that is immature
@@toddripcity7878 Thank you very much! I asked the sales person if these plants were still going to grow and produce and was told they were. I will try to return them. Thanks again.
Good information tanq
khàawp khun! “thank you”
Are you growing hydroponically or in a wicking pail. Happy to see someone else with pots galore!
I grew in 2 ways. 1 was a bucket - in a bunch growing method with a round tomato cage attached to the bucket. The other way was in styrofoam beverage coolers bought at Walmart , growing hydrophobic
Boil spring baby potatoes with dill or just the stems from dill, thats a treat 😋
Nice!!!
😊
How are the APA Hotel in Akihabara regarding to sounds from the street? Are it noticable when in one's room, or are the room soundproof from outside noise?
My room was quiet. Great quiet window
👍🏻
I forgot to tell you that right now it’s in a 5 gallon bucket. Should I planted in a wine barrel or should I wait?
Should get it replanted and give it as much possible time to get settled before the fall/winter
Hey Todd. My update on my Satsuma tree. For the past month the whether in NM is in the late 60. My tree has new leaves and at least 1000 white buds. Looks pretty healthy. Thanks again for all your help. Keep up the great work !! ❤
Great!
Are you growing in your front yard?
Yes, all day sun in the front. Hardly any sunlight in the backyard
Sprache Englisch Untertitel Englisch: kaum zu glauben.
Hey Todd happy new year. My Satsuma tree is doing very good in container. Should I fertilize it right now? Thanks again for all your input.
Please tell me how the tree looks like
How do the leaves look? Did it fruit before? How about new growth…new young leaves
I took out all the fruit before I ship it. The tree looks pretty good with no new leaves.
@@renato113 sounds good. Are you going to use a water soluble fertilizer, spray fertilizer or standard granular fertilizer?
I will wait in spring to transplant to a bigger pot. For now I have miracle grow and fish fertilizer.
