THat was an EXCELLENT camera angle that shows exactly what happened....you can see you initially were looking through the turn and then changed focus to the edge of the road and you went right where you were looking. I have been riding 35 years and STILL occasionally have this happen....its human reflex to focus on the danger and is the single hardest thing to overcome... THANKS for sharing and hopefully it helps others!! Love your bike man...I have an SF as well. Some day I need to snag a 360 to record like this as well...how distracting is it having it out there in front like that??

First off; I hope you and the Ducati are OK! Secondly; during the corner you looked where you DID NOT want to go. Training teaches one riding that your momentum/motorcycle will go where you look. I know this is not helpful AFTER The fact yet i hope it may be in the future. If i may suggest: Take these same corners at a lower speed and teach yourself looking to the end of each corner (looking through the corner). Blessings

I've been riding motorcycles for 20 years and I discovered "target fixation" since I watch UA-cam crash videos, It seems like this is the basic justification for all corner crashes, while for me it is clear that the explanation is almost always the same: You take the turn with too much speed, you realize in the middle of the turn that you are going too wide and are not ready/able to lean any further, you panic and no longer look at the exit of the turn but in front of you and brake which reduce directional control and take you off the road In short there would have been no "target fixation" problem if you had taken the turn a little slower Ride safe

Loss of focus can have huge consequences on a bike, u got lucky it was a slow corner. I personally ride with a 4 liter hydration bladder and have a liquid iv prior to the ride, especially if i plan on carving some mountain roads. Gotta fuel our bodies when riding, takes a lot out of us...

thanks for sharing this! good reminder for myself to always remain focused. i appreciate that. i'm no where close to your skill level, but nevertheless, after like ~10 months of riding, i started getting too comfortable. there was a right turn bend i probably have taken 1000 times and that random night i target fixated, went wide, and rode right off the road. luckily into an empty field of grass. but MAN did that freak me out. learned a big lesson that day for sure...

Riding is not mentally draining, it’s the exact opposite, accidents happen when your mind isn’t sharp, that can happen due to lack of sleep, anxiety, feeling hungry or thirsty and all this sort of things. Actually, riding a motorcycle has been related induce a light state of mindfulness meditation, research for yourself. Don’t ride hard when you know you aren’t in your best state of mind (overconfidence included) my accidents happened when I didn’t really pay attention to how I was feeling , ride safe and have fun :)
