      That is very strange. For me the cover came off pretty easily. Did you make sure to press the release button before trying to remove the cover. If so, I would recommend contacting the manufacturer to see if they can help.

    Hey Joe, I've purchased mine as well a couple of weeks ago, however I've got sort of an issue, I don't have anymore the 4k resolution, I can't select it anymore. Do you know what might be the issue? I tested it when i got it but i suddenly disappeared. I searched some guides online but nothing was helpful. I've got a 4070 super as my GPU so it shouldn't be a problem running it at 4k.

      Hi Adrian, thank you for the question. Which cable are you using to connect the monitor to your PC? Did the cable come in the box with the monitor or did you get it through a third party? If you got it through a third party can you please share the manufacturer and other details so I can look it up?

    do i need to update my bios first or drivers and do i download all the drivers from the msi website for the z790 ace max mobo at the same time or one at a time?

    • @JoeAlisando
      @JoeAlisando 5 днів тому

      The order of updating bios vs drivers does not matter. For a new build, I update the bios if needed, then install windows and then install the drivers. The default window drivers can also work so the driver updates from msi are optional. You can download the drivers from the msi website one at a time and install as needed.

    I am confused on how the power off/standby should work for this monitor. It's pretty random. Sometimes, when I power off the PC or put it to sleep, the monitor powers off with the standby led solid red on its own and the LED ring turns off. Good. Sometimes it does not and stays on so I press and keep holding the menu button to switch it off. But.... it doesn't always work and instead the menu appears. Then the second time holding down the menu button works. Sometimes, when powering off the PC or putting it to sleep, the monitor standby led starts blinking red instead. What does that mean? The power off button from the menu seems to do nothing? It never powers off because the standby led is not turned on and if I press the menu button, it just shows the menu again and not like it's powering on again displaying the Samsung and Odyssey logos. Maybe I am misunderstanding all of this or is it Samsung shenanigans? 😄

    • @JoeAlisando
      @JoeAlisando 9 днів тому

      Thank you for the questions. See below for a list of answers to each question. 1. The display always powers off correctly for me, and the red LED light turns on when the display is powered off. Also, in regard to the power off button from the menu, for me it always turns off the display after which the red LED light turns on automatically. 2. The blinking red LED means the monitor is still on but there is no source signal. For example, when you turn off the PC the source signal goes away so the display turns black with the red light blinking. If you were to turn your PC back on, the signal returns and the monitor will automatically receive the signal without you needing to press the physical power button to turn it on. 3. Not sure if it will help but I also have the automatic turn off display option selected under Menu -> System -> Off Timer Plus -> Off Timer -> On. I have it set so the display turns off in 1 hour if it does not receive a signal.

      @@JoeAlisando Same version. Yesterday, coincidentally, for the first time, the monitor refused to switch off. Held down the menu button like 4 times and each time the menu kept coming up. Had to unplug the power cord. First time I have encountered a monitor that is such a hassle to power off. Maybe it is becoming sentient. 😄 There is a newer firmware version; 1006 but I read users having problems with intermittent black screens occuring on that version. Although there is a way to downgrade the firmware by renaming the firmware file with a higher number tricking the monitor that it is installing a newer version. So there's that piece of mind if I feel like updating.

    How is this different from G95SC while Amazon has both on sale, the Samsung site has no information on G93SC.

    • @JoeAlisando
      @JoeAlisando 3 місяці тому

      Hi tankspl7, good question. The only difference between the G95SC and G93SC is the smart screen feature. G95SC can act both as a monitor and a smart screen which allows you to directly connect to apps like Netflix, Hulu, etc. without a computer. The G93SC does not have the smart features. G93SC is good enough for me because I do have it hooked up to a computer all the time and can connect to apps via my browser.

      @@JoeAlisando I just checked with Samsung support and one other difference is that G95SC is N-sync compatible whereas the G93SC is not. Just ordered the G95SC from Amazon as they had it on sale for $1,199.

      Thank you for adding this point. G93SC comes with adaptive sync which can be activated as shown in the video at 7:13. According to NVIDIA, G93SC should be G-Sync compatible. Please see the following link for more information: www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/products/g-sync-monitors/specs/. Also, according to the Samsung website, the specs on G93SC show that it is compatible with FreeSync Premium Pro. See the following link for more information: www.samsung.com/my/monitors/gaming/odyssey-oled-g9-g93sc-49-inch-240hz-curved-dual-qhd-ls49cg934sexxs/#specs. I hope you enjoy your new screen. • @JoeAlisando
      @JoeAlisando 3 місяці тому

      Thank you for the question. If you update via M-Flash in the BIOS (the normal way), you don't have to rename anything. Just extract the BIOS ZIP file to USB (NTFS or FAT32 formatted). Renaming to MSI.ROM is only necessary if you want to update via the Flash BIOS Button, and this is done when normal updating via M-Flash would not work.

    • @JoeAlisando
      @JoeAlisando 4 місяці тому

      No worries. You do not need windows to update your BIOS. In fact, I would recommend updating the BIOS before installing windows. To do this, first download the BIOS and install it on a USB drive using a different computer (not your new build) as described in the video. Second, turn on your newly built PC and enter the BIOS (note: windows is not needed to enter the BIOS). Third, check that the CPU temperatures are reasonable and are not rising over time. Fourth, check that all the RAM sticks you installed are showing up. Fifth, make sure all your storage devices are showing up. Sixth, if everything looks good, install the BIOS as described in the video. When the BIOS installation starts, it is very important not to turn off the PC even if you get a black screen. Be patient and wait until the BIOS screen shows up again. If the BIOS version hasn’t changed keep waiting as it may need to restart several times to install the BIOS. Once you see the new BIOS version show up, you are done. I hope this helps.

    Did you really need that big of a unit?

    • @JoeAlisando
      @JoeAlisando 4 місяці тому

      That is a good question. I guess it depends if you want to upgrade the system in the future. For example, I wanted to get a power supply with a larger wattage rating in case I needed it for future system upgrades. You are correct that less power can still work for the current build. Also, there are online calculators that can help you decide on the power requirements for your PSU.

    If you were to install a second SSD where would you put it?

    • @JoeAlisando
      @JoeAlisando 4 місяці тому

      Hi hanzberger8751, thank you for the question. I would first populate the M.2 slots that are connected directly to the CPU. If you go to the manufacturers website and look at the specifications for the motherboard, it will tell you which slots are connected to the CPU directly. For the Z790 ACE MAX those two slots are M.2_1 and M.2_4. Also if you are getting a gen5 M.2, install it in slot M.2_4, and put your operating system on that one since it will be faster. I will go over the topic in a separate video.

      Welcome to the channel! Thank you for the kind words and good questions. The z790 ace max should come pre-installed with one of the following BIOS versions: Version 7D86vA0 or Version 7D86vA1. Both versions should support 14th Gen CPUs. Please check your BIOS version and confirm one of these two versions is installed and you should be good to go. My motherboard came pre-installed with version 7D86vA0 and I decided to upgrade to the newer 7D86vA1 version because it was a fresh build and the process is pretty straight forward. I will be adding a video soon to go over the BIOS upgrade process. Regarding the screen, I chose the Samsung Odyssey 49" G93SC Series OLED Curved Gaming Monitor and I like it very much. If you are interested, I do have a separate video on the channel dedicated to the monitor and it can be accessed with the following link: ua-cam.com/video/8lawVjheCk4/v-deo.html

    • @JoeAlisando
      @JoeAlisando 5 місяців тому

      You are very welcome. Getting better RAM can improve your gaming experience if RAM is the limiting factor in your build. In that case, it can help increase your fps for instance. To see what RAM the motherboard can support, check the specifications of your motherboard. For the Z790 ace max, DDR5 is needed with maximum capacity of 192GB and guaranteed speed of 5600 MHz. Anything over 5600 MHz is not guaranteed but possible depending on all the other components in the build. I chose to go with two sticks of DDR5, 5600 MHz, 32 GB for a total of 64 GB of RAM. After activating XMP in the BIOS, I was able to get the full 5600 MHz and 64 GB of RAM. I will make another video on how to activate the XMP option in your bios settings. Regarding the M.2 drive, I installed only one and it houses my operating system and is used for storage. I will be installing more in the future for storage as it is not too expensive. If you are interested in the full list of components in my build, check out the description section in the following video: ua-cam.com/video/4AAObIBb5m4/v-deo.html . I hope this helps at least a little. Enjoy the computer building experience with your son.
