New Improved Dinger 3.0.0 - improved Optics, improved audio, Dinger 3 sounds awesome!!!!
this is great & all for anyone unfamiliar with the tones, but the mic might obfuscate a bit of the nuances. also, u get a better tone out if u knock on it like as if youre knocking on a door, at least that's what i think
such melodious, smooth and effortless licks...
That's interesting, I've never heard much about the Brazilian Kingwood before. So before starting the video I was a bit biased towards the Brazilian Rosewood, but damn, the Kingwood just changed my mind. It rings way more beautifully than Brazilian Rosewood. After hearing the tone of the Kingwood the Brazilian Rosewood sounds almost lifeless. From what I hear, it's slightly bright but not as bright as say a African Blackwood, but at the same time it has that nice round and warm bottom end. It sounds a bit like Cocobolo
The Kingwood sounds more vibrate and has beautiful mid and high.
they were really good
3rd kingwood board sounded bell like but nice round bottom end wich I love, the first brz rswd piece sounded like it was a little too tight.. needed to open up more.. Also I have to say the grain on kingwood is breathtaking
It has been brilliant seeing this clip over the years, but there is now a much clearer, full version uploaded, also including Forbidden Lovers. Just search 'Forbidden Lovers + Terminal Street'.
I never thought I'd get to see this - thank you SO MUCH for uploading
Got a little carried away with that amazing zoom lever? What else did you get for Christmas. *LOL*
Kingwood sounded more bell like, rosewood a little dull in comparison. Thanks!
First time I've ever heard AC hum from Les Paul's amp.
Each one sounds different, the last Brazilian board had the highest pitch and sustain Some of the Kingwood sounded good too
Epic
One of the greatest clips ever!
Joe Saltzman Check out the recent clearer full version. "Forbidden Lovers + Terminal Street"
Thanks Billy -- you made my day !!!
The Brazilian Kingwood sounded much better!
Great post!!! Awesome version of this tune live from one of my all time favorite groups and albums.
not sure why your using a string to hold it...itll bong if you just hold it
My born day
the second one sounds the best!
RIP Charles Tumahai (bassist/vocalist)
FERK ME....AWESOME STUFF FROM BIG BILL.XXX
Ahead of his time in so many ways. Still listening Bill. What you get for us?
So cool song, thanks for this one, Bill is still the best
the kingwood sounded more bell like, and musical. but if that translates to a good sounding les paul fretboard, i dont know.
like a boss
solo was sick! which forum member what that?
He was in his 70s
Happy Birthday Les
@nymetsrock You couldn't be more wrong, it's a very multifunctional guitar. It sounds great for jazz yes, but I prefer it for how it sounds while playing blues and rock. Nothing beats that beefy gritty sound when it comes to tearing up the house!
Happy 96th Birthday Les Paul!
Les Paul was one of those guys that never seemed to make a mistake, every movement had it's purpose. His attention to detail and his improvisational ability was extraordinary to say the least, he covered a lot of ground with his playing. Just listen to some of the guys that he inspired (i.e. Steve Howe) and look at the company he kept (i.e. Chet Atkins). Les Paul was the real deal, that's why his name is on so many of our guitars! Wish I could have met him.
I think that most people who say he's not a great guitarist can't play that great themselves. In any case, i do believe there were many great guitarists in his prime - as there are many unknown great ones today. The part one misses is his invention of multi-track recording. Hard to dismiss this contribution.
The BEST ... ONE OF THE BEST GUITARIST OF ALL TIME ... DOESN'T GET THE CREDIT HE DESERVES ... AS A SONGWRITER ... THERE HAS BEEN NO ONE LIKE HIM! HE WAS SO AHEAD OF HIS TIME ... I THINK HE JUST GOT BORED?
What a great song !. Impeccable licks and taste , now, as then....
@Jimmyz96 I don't think he plays:)
@Jimmyz96 You have your opinion i have mine.
@Jimmyz96 He is an inventor and a good guitarist. Doesn't match and is outdated by many guitarists.
@kevykev38 How can you rate Les as just an "ok" guitarist? What do you play, and who do you think is better? I think you need to do a little homework before you make a comment like that. There are tons of musicians who would disagree with you. get inducted into four different halls of fame and maybe then, your comment might have a fraction of merit!
Great inventor, An "Okay" guitarist for his time. there were better guitarists than him in his day. The thing that saved him was his inventions.
Basically any recording today in one way or another reflects Les' technical influence. This is not to mention his performance style that he gave freely to players across numerous generations! But above all was his simply amazing and gracious demeanor, his willingness to listen to any new musical style and discuss any new technical concept!
Hey, Les was just about the the "electric guitar" try this! Electric guitar, Sound on sound, Close miking, Multi track, Echo chamber, The Les Paul Paulverizer, The Gibson Les Paul Solid body guitar
You influenced so many including me RIP Lester
The man, the myth, the legend...
Thanks so much for posting Double2Neck! The Modern Music album has taken over my life lately, and to see these people just doin it....Well! Brilliant There must be more archives like this out there eh? You Dont get bands like this now! Not these day
Bill Nelson, thee maestro.
people dont understand the guitar the les paul. people use for heavy metal, and hard rock, it is a jazz guitar. people think it was made for hardcore stuff, and it wasnt
R.I.P les pauls
Really cool. Wish they had some real footage of Swan Song and Between The Worlds and Sound Track.
@Sqroob Yes, he was in a bad car wreck in 1948 and it shattered his arm and elbow. They told him they would have to set it in one spot as it couldn't move again. So he had it set to where he could hold and play his guitar. Took him a year and a half to recover. I'd say he did recover pretty well too.
