Hello! I'm Manda Ree, the mom-in-cheif over here at A Family Affair. We are a family of six artists and makers. We love vintage, salvage, DIY, and up-cycling. One of our favorite past-times is going junking at flea markets, thrift stores, and auctions to find treasures that are buried under a bit of grime and a lot of wear-shine them up, give them some love (and often paint!) and turn them back into beautiful and unique treasures for home decor. And our creative talents include sewing, painting and drawing, woodworking and fine carpentry-so we've always got something interesting going on.
After years of our friends asking us to post videos so they can learn too, we've decided to go ahead and jump into the You-Tube game.

How to Use IOD Moulds | Vintage—Style Riser
I love to use risers for display but sometimes they are hard to find.
In this video I use IOD moulds and air dry clay to transform three pieces of scrap wood into an amazing vintage-inspired riser that I can use to display our favorite decor-vintage, thrifted, or homemade.
I’ll teach you how too! It’s easy and so rewarding.

A scrap wood riser
Chalk-type paint in black, and brown
IOD (Iron Orchid Designs) moulds-various designs including Trimmings 1 (find your local stockist here: ironorchiddesigns.com/retailers )
Air Dry Clay
Saltwash (It may be at your favorite home-decor supply store or find an online retailer here: ilovesaltwash.com )
Milk paint
I used Sweet Pickins in Sweetwater available here: milkpaint.com/product/sweetwater
Poly Acrylic top coat-I used minwax, your favorite will probably work
Home decor wax in clear and dark
Basic craft supplies such as:
Paintbrushes
Rag
Wood glue
And that’s all! Quick, simple, and easy...

I am sure happy that I did stumble across you 😊 Your pot came out so beautifully aged 😍 I am going to give this technique a try! I checked out your Instagram page and you do some beautiful work and I love your style ❣️ I would really love to see more videos in the very near future 🙏 I also love the fact that you use IOD products! I should have become a stockist for them several years ago because I own pretty much every stamp, transfer (I still have bits and pieces of some in a folder), moulds and now paint inlays! I adore the sisters and am a huge fan of their products 😁 I really hope to see some more videos from you real soon... this one was perfect ❤️

Rather it be a buzzing noise, children laughing and playing, a dark barking, someone knocking on the door, all in the background... it called "life" 😁 It absolutely shows signs of a happy and healthy life, infact‼️ Could you please share the name of your channel so that I can watch your 100% distraction free videos?! Some people have no clue exactly what goes into and what it takes to plan, prep, set up including correct lighting, piece together clips, edit (which is whole ball game in itself) and then upload a UA-cam video! The time and effort put into just 1 video is astounding, just incase you weren't aware! Again, feel free to share the name of your channel 😊
