So sorry I had to miss this recital but grateful to hear the recording!
Thank you for recording and posting this beautiful and moving concert.
Love this interpretation! From which cantata is this?
Thank you, very kind. It is from Cantata 24 - Ein ungefärbt Gemüthe
A gorgeous piece of music performed beautifully by everyone! A blessing to have the Sarasota Orchestra musicians accompany the choir!
Oh my god this is awful. Does the organist need to get to the toilet or something? So hurried, no phrasing, no time for breaths, the conductor (not that he’s making much effort) couldn’t even keep up with the organist - got caught out at the start then I gave up watching. Such a shame to ruin beautifully written music. Come on folks surely you can do better?
Beautiful!
Thank you for this beautiful rendition! The choir was lovely, well balanced and the musicians from the Sarasota Orchestra were superb. Thank you, Dr. James Walton.
Beautiful!
So beautiful. I've only recently begun to realize how much preparation, effort and practice goes into doing what you do. I do hope that you (at least occasionally) get some sincere expressions of appreciation for making a visually lovely environment a delight to the ears as well. Play on!
So kind! I do get a great deal of support here and I feel that the music should come up to the artistic standard of this inspiring space.
I found that tuba loud, shrill and unpleasant.
The recording is partly to blame, but the stop was not a tuba! It was the en Chamade reed, which is too loud, but the hooded trumpet was too small, so had to make a compromise. Sorry!
@@DRjimfairfax That would explain it. Thanks!
Appreciate the great music at the 11:00. Nick
Very nice, as usual! Hope our church survives the recent changes.
Fab!😊
Was there church today? -Nick
sure...just a lot of rain. It was a big deterrent though...
@@DRjimfairfax Hey thanks. I’m on the island and there’s been a lot of flooding so I didn’t want to get stuck on the mainland.
Omg that was beautiful ❤

This is one of my favorite choral works. Your choir performed it with beautiful phrasing and dynamics. What was the instrument accompanying the piano? An oboe? I've never heard it arranged that way. It was wonderful!!
So kind! It was an english horn, a part that I cobbled from the melodies of the accompaniment and a bit from the tenor line. It works equally well with french horn, but I love the haunting sound of the English Horn.
lovely!
Greetings from Christ Church Cathedral, Fredericton, NB, Canada. This is absolutely DAZZLING!!!
Very kind of you to post - thank you!
I love this arrangement!
Great compliment!
What a lovely rendition of my anthem. Thank you and congratulations 😀
It's extremely sad and annoying to see someone spelling God with a lower case "g" -- this is disrespectful and disgraceful. 👎👎👎👎👎👎👎
Bravi! You all sound great!
Thank you, Jen! very kind!
Very good concerts from this church and I love the organ case.
MARANATA!
wdym by "J. S. Bach (not Bach)", who composed this then?
from imslp.org Nearly all scholars are in agreement these works are not those of J.S. Bach. Arguments have been advanced in favor of Bach's pupil Johann Ludwig Krebs, his father Johann Tobias Krebs, Bach's eldest son Wilhelm Friedemann Bach, Franz Anton Maichelbeck, Johann Caspar Simon and (most recently) the Bohemian composer Johann Caspar Ferdinand Fischer.
@@DRjimfairfax very interesting, thank you for the information
Wonderful! I’m there every Sunday at 11:.
And we are so glad you are!
@@DRjimfairfax Thanks! The feeling is definitely mutual!
Love it! Great contrast to the Bach, and the piano is rocking!!
Sounds great!! Sorry I missed it!
Lovely pictures and great music! You have a noisy congregation!!
What is your prelude?
Prelude on the Introit for Epiphany - Maurice Durufle'
Beautiful content:) Many blessings!
Wow....they GOOD!
The organ sings Mendelssohn
Thank you, you are very kind!
David Hurd's compositions impress me profoundly. This version of O Sacred Head is wonderful but I'd like to hear other versions.
We sang this Hymn at Mass last Sunday, beautiful. Only decent recording I could find.
Very kind. One of my favorites, and new to Hymnal 1982. Thanks!
@@DRjimfairfaxwhat hymnal do you guys use?

"Dear James Walton I see that your channel is very valuable. I would love to repost your whole channel, without changing anything, on the nice platform named Gan Jing World. If you agree with that, please let me know. Thanks!"
whatever
In the first place: singing is a joy and not an assignment. Show that, your sounds are good! Secondly: the accounting woman in the back should be punnished !!!
1 God himself is with us: let us now adore him, and with awe appear before him. God is in his temple-- all within keep silence, prostrate lie with deepest rev'rence. Him alone God we own, him, our God and Savior; praise his name forever. 2 God himself is with us: hear the harps resounding! See the crowds the throne surrounding! "Holy, holy, holy"-- hear the hymn ascending, angels, saints, their voices blending! Bow thine ear to us here: hear, O Christ, the praises that thy church now raises. 3 O thou fount of blessing, purify my spirit; trusting only in thy merit, like the holy angels who behold thy glory, may I ceaselessly adore thee, and in all, great and small, seek to do most nearly what thou lovest dearly.
Haha! this suck\
haha fact this suck
Lovely! My choir is stuck at home because of the pandemic, and at our next Zoom meeting we'll be singing along with your beautiful rendition.
So kind! I remember my work and folks there with great fondness.
Is by the Dr. David Hurd, The Hymnal 1982 composer?
Absolutely. I wrote to him, praising his work and letting him know how much he is appreciated! Very gracious man.
@@DRjimfairfax I sang under him when I was a stud.
What a great memory of Chris Melon. He now singing with the angels.
Thank you for this, Jim. Here's to you, dear Chris!
A great pleasure to hear the Purvis Jubilate again, as it was one of my great joys to sing it in the junior choir at St. Paul's, Chattanooga. I wish it had been taken a trifle slower, but that's my only quibble. (Frankly, I couldn't hit those high notes consistently myself at age 11, so no criticism there.)
Thanks so much - as happens in the suburbs, soccer took four fine singers away that morning!
Beautiful!
Dr. Walton is one of my favorite musicians. He is so talented and such a caring individual.
Excellent arrangement, gracefully played. Thanks for sharing!
