Eggman used Infinite to eliminate as many of bowser's soldiers as possible.

3:04 It's possible, but not likely, that this is a reference to SMBZ. Which was a Newgrounds series that also crossed over Mario and Sonic. The villain being Mecha Sonic instead of Metal. Mecha went Super and, just like in this battle, also said the line "I'll crush you!". Funny enough, Mecha Sonic used voice clips of Mecha Cooler from DBZ for all of his vocals. 😅

1:43 I think this is more of a reference to Mario 64. Where when you spin Bowser by his tail and throw him, I THINK Mario says "So long-a-Bowser". But the pronunciation was so cracked that people only heard, "So long gay Bowser". 😂 So I believe that Bowser v Eggman was referencing the game, rather than Mario v Sonic.

2:18 I love how Metal gets characterized with this shot; He's fast and percise. Metal knows his efforts are wasted being part of the intial invasion force or dealing the smaller enemies, so he only appears when something of high value (the Ruby) is in play, grabbing and immdiatly speeding off. When he loses it, he immediatly does a 360 with his head (Can I say I love the little head jam btw) and immediatly targets Bowser. And since he knows the Ruby is lost, he quickly changes strategy and goes Neo, killing Bowser in one shot. Metal reappers to quickly take the hit for Eggman, and make distance between him (Metal) and Bowser. Returning with the 7 Emeralds, and immdieatly knowing where to strike Bowser, blasting straight through Kamek's pipes and killing him so he can't interfere with Sage anymore. He's only impeded by Bowser Jr./Shadow Mario who barely slows him down with the X. And Metal seemed to be winning the Beam Fight between him and Bowser, if the Emeralds didn't scatter at that moment. My only complaint is Metal never used Chaos Control

0:13 I always interpreted this scene differently. Keep in mind that it's a dummy mech that's attacking Bowser, which immediately starts retreating after showing up. I think Eggman was trying to lure Bowser away from his troop to give his own troops a better chance at actually taking a portion of Bowser's army. This would explain Eggman's _"All according to plan!"_ line

Characterization of bowser is also peak when it comes to how he reacts to certain things For example, when the gravity is crushing the koopa troopa, you see Bowser, instead of try to attack infinite, holds several minions in place to protect them. And as you've shown, protecting his troops from the mega death lazer And my personal favorite, the "dad powerup". Went all out the moment Jr. Was on the floor

This battle was such bunk. Mario Party mechanic. Random giant star man. A fucking black hole! The Death Egg getting turned into a question block. I mean, come on. I know their magic. They're not gods. It did make for a good show.

The animation is so good I've seen people who disagree with the verdict still enjoy it. It's at least a refreshing change of pace from how people reacted to the last 2 episodes.

These death battle guys really push the Nintendo characters to win. They nerfed Eggman's team a lot. But despite that, the battle and animation was epic, Bowser honestly earned my respect.

1:45 The Quote "So long" is a usual reference in the Mario community becuse in Mario 64 in version 1.0 The original release the line Mario Says is "So long G@y Bowser" when he launches Bowser to a bomb as soon as Internet became a thing its a usual meme... in fact it was so funny even back then... so Nintendo updated the game with ''Super Mario 64 Shindou Version" it was a more polished and optimized version of Mario 64 And they removed the voiceline ''So long g[a)y Bowser'' replacing it for '"Bye-Bye" this was because two reasons Bowser is called King Koopa in japan and they realized that the quote King sounded more like G@y wich was kind of... not apropiate for an E Rated game

Id also like to add, the reason all the kings got crushed but the smaller minions didn't isn't because they're more durable, but because bowser was literally using his magic to protect them, hence the bubbles surrounding them.

I’m a fan of both franchises so I don’t really care who won the death battle, especially when you consider the fact that canonically they are friends

One change I'll make to make Eggman's army a tad more varied would be to have Silver Sonic stole the ruby's first and get hit with Kamek's magic (either in the form of chance time or getting turned into a frog of some sorts) then Mecha Sonic would pick up the slack and both one shot Bowser, as well as sacrifice himself when Fury Bowser attacks, and THEN have Metal appear as Super Neo
