Look at all the Khmer ‘s statues that were stolen from Cambodia 😔
Almost as bad as all the Cambodian lands stolen by Thailand and its people. Absolutely Disgusting.

I'd like to meet a hot dame who passes out jewelry.
1946 not 1964
Right! 🤗!
1964????????? The correct year was 1946
Yep! You are RIGHT! 🤗
I really liked the white antlers worn by the female performers. I've always wanted to dance with an elk or a reindeer.
How elegant !
Not 1964 but 1946. Aspect ratio is also wrong.
Charles Russell and kathberry8, remember at the time in which this picture was filmed, smoking was still considered a fashion statement and an acceptable and elegant social habit. Many people then were aware of the health risks, but many other people were not aware. Unfortunately, smoking for many became an addiction to nicotine, and it was very difficult to quit. That is why we were seeing an increase in lung cancer in the 60s, 70s and 80s.
I stand corrected. I was guilty of it at one time myself! thanks for reminding
Yes my parents both smoked till early 90ies then both stopped 😉
This is stunningly Beautiful to watch, I must have seen this over 50 times. I wish they made films like this now but I'm afraid the talent is not there like it was then.
😀 I use to own a copy! One of my favorite MGM FILM! I first saw it a kid and fell in love with it! 🙂
Virginia Stock....I believe that there is talent out there like this in today's world. Unfortunately, the vast majority of it will never be seen for many reasons. Some of those reasons are: 1. What Hollywood studios and executives are producing today to feed the kitty and make the buck 2. US public choice and psyche have changed so much through the decades. Would the attitude towards something like this be comparable? 3. The caliber of people has changed so much....compare people from the 1940s to 2020....I just do not see a comparison....
I agree with talents back then vs. today. However, it was still a man’s world and had a lack of diversity. There are things that wouldn’t fly today behind the scenes that would be permissible back then. So I’d rather go forwards than backwards.
🙄@@jennifera9071
that was great gave me chills look at all the antlers and masks and all
Just noting that the producer of this film, commissioned by the Jim Thompson foundation, is the same who recently produced a narrowly distributed doc exploring the theory that Jim was murdered by the CPM. I wonder what the foundation thinks of this. Remarkable man. Tragic disappearance, no matter the cause. Silver lining is that the second legend of his life, as well as his beautiful home and enduring company, help bring attention to the story of the first legend of Jim, his life. Thanks for sharing.
What does CPM stand for?

How far we've come from the cigarette bit. It intrudes during this number........................
women smoking at that time was still a little surprising showed the character had spunk
With that top hat and cigarette holder stuck in his gob, Fred looks like the Penguin (Burgess Meredith, his co-star in 'Second Chorus').
Yeah Lucille Bremer could dance. A perfect match for Astaire here. Elegant, fluid, light on her feet, naturally graceful and sophisticated. Stunning dance and set.
Incredible partnering ............................................cigarette out of place. In the way............
"Be Still My Heart".....I'm crying tears of joy at the beauty of all the arts in perfect 'Harmony' here. "Kansha Shimasho"
Am I mistaken, but didnt' Lucille enter the ball WITHOUT a coat...? Stuart Lee Film Reviewer. Continuity, baby, continuity.
Did you notice that NONE of the women entering wear a wrap or coat? That is because they would have been taken before their announcement at a ball or reception. You wouldn't appear at a formal announcement entering a party wearing one.
Yes! But THAT FOX FUR COAT IS TOO GREAT! IT WAS TO BE A SHOW STOPPER AND IT WAS! THE GREAT HELEN ROSE!
I am amazed by this set, it's simply astounding. The amount of work that went into building and paying for it pays off with the aesthetic it creates. Truly a work of art.
YOU'RE so right! 🙂 I agree!
ชื่นชมค่ะ ^^
How old was Jim when he started the business?
+Luisa Costa He was around 40 years old. Check out this site, you might find it interesting: www.jimthompsonhouse.com/life/index.asp ;)

Hello, Please be aware that I have recently published a report on the Thompson case from a scientific search and rescue (SAR) point of view - this has never been done before. I was able to track down and interview members and leaders of the 1967 search, and evaluate the quantity and quality of the search, and analyze the search strategy and tactics, using modern principles from the National Association for SAR and the seminal book “Lost Person Behavior.” I was also able to eliminate about half of the possible causes cited in the press, impeach two and evaluate the other eye-witnesses who claimed to have seen Thompson after he left the LKP (last known point, the Moonlight Bungalow), evaluate the so-called “Bones of Jim Thompson,” and compile all the primary documents (CIA, FBI, US DoS, letters, wills, estate administrations, coroner’s reports, etc.) on the case. I was also able to lay out a road map to a possible (but not certain) solution and clearance of the case. This report is available gratis on my website at: www.themosttraveled.com/new/new_land.html. It is the second document on the page. Good hunting! Lew Toulmin, Ph.D., F.R.G.S. Former Chair, Section on Emergency Management, American Society for Public Administration Co-founder, Missing Aircraft Search Team Travel/Adventure Editor and Columnist, The Montgomery Sentinel Silver Spring, Maryland USA
Lew, as one who also found Thompson's story of interest, I've also spent a fair bit of time researching his background. Will look forward to reading your theory as to where he went.

+Lew Toulmin Dear Mr Toulmin, thank you so much for this very valuable information. It is now in the open! Recently I was in Thailand with the JT company and learned some new things about his disappearance that I didn't know yet. Now I am going to read your report with great interest! I am very curious! Thank you again! Best regards, Bart Brugman
Lew Toulmin actually he left Malaysia he was last seen in Taiwan and no one could afford silk back then the way he made his money was smuggling

Dear Mr Toulmin, I enjoyed your presentation on ua-cam.com/video/0ASjJgwDCBc/v-deo.html very much and had to think of you in view of the film 'Who Killed Jim Thompson' that just premiered at the Eugene Film Festival. If he was murdered, it may have well been the butler that did it. That would explain a lot. The mystery remains... Best regards, Bart Brugman
Your report is amazing. Perhaps the most in-depth, and least speculative by nature that I have seen. Amazing wealth of resources as well. Thank you greatly for assembling and sharing. Deserves publishing.
Perfection, perfection. Only use the best - if we make it, they will come. And so the saying goes from generation to generation.
as expected from the Tassinari family, keep up the good work ~joe tassinari www.bizwrks.us
Where did Jim go when he walked away from Moonlight Cottage in the Cameron Highlands that Easter afternoon, 1967?
We may never know.
Just how in the hell did Hollywood go from producing sheer beauty like this, to the pornography that passes for entertainment now!?!
nopking69 Baby boomers, dear. My generation RUINED Hollywood.
Nopking69...absolutely a good question...a prime example of what has transpired from US public choice...look what happened socially and culturally in the US in the late 60s and beyond...not necessarily in the best interest or good of the nation. The US never learned that what is contemporary is not necessarily the best quality. Too bad, US....you really messed up.
Show!
Dank je Merv! Geldt ook voor jou! ;-)
Go Bart! Ben trots op je, altijd jezelf blijven en vooral je eigen weg kiezen!
