By day 5, everything is starting to come back down from swelling. Usually days 2-3 are the worst as far as swelling and pain goes. We also have our surgical patients take arnica and bromelain for a few days before and after surgery to reduce pain, swelling, and bruising.

Yes, you can shower. Avoid direct spray onto incisions and use baby shampoo. We like to have our patients to keep the headwrap on for 24 hours and then keep it on for the first week, but can take it off to shower.

Erbium can certainly be uncomfortable if your pain is not effectively managed. Luckily, we offer a variety of options to keep you comfortable during your treatment including topical numbing, MKO melts, and Pronox (laughing gas).

Nope! A big hat can help shield you from the sun. It's important to avoid sun exposure to the best of your ability. You'll want to keep your skin well hydrated as it heals as well. The only reason to stay home would be if you're not comfortable looking a little "off" in public.

​ @rafaelgomez1989 No. You do not want to overly strip the skin or overexfoliate before your procedure. You should stop any actives (vitamin c, retinol/retin-a/tretinoin/etc, any exfoliants, niacinamide, and so on) prior to laser skin resurfacing. Your provider will have a specific timeline for you to follow with regards to stopping actives.

Most people can lose 4 -5 pounds with the 5 day Prolon. I'd suggest you do it for five days, then go to a lower calorie maintenance plan to try to not lose more, but gain none back for about one month and then repeat the Prolon. You should be able to shed close to 10 pounds simply by doing that. But, to keep it off, you may want to work with a medical provider and / or a nutritionist that can make sure your maintenance diet is appropriate.

You will feel tightening immediately. The tightening effect will continue over the next few days as your skin heals.

Remember you will have to have a series of treatments for whichever one you decide upon and honestly my decision would rest less on the device and more on the practice and the person designing your treatment plan, but if I had to choose one for this particular problem, I'd go Pico. But if you are deciding between aesthetician treatment protocol versus and MD, choose the MD.

Agree in part. Rhinoplasty is certainly a game changer for a lot of patients, but other procedures, such as facelift / necklift / chin implants / otoplasty / scar revision / correctly performed botox and filler can be as well. Even though it isn't necessarily what is featured in social media, it is the desire of most patients to have natural results. You probably do not even recognize that these people have had surgery because it can be such a natural, beautiful result. Unfortunately, that is not what gets the attention in Hollywood or with the social media beauty influencer craze.

There are a lot of plastic surgeons and even some facial plastic surgeons that choose to not do rhinoplasties because of the precision necessary for consistent outcomes. Most plastic surgeons gravitate toward offering surgeries we are best trained for, enjoy performing and those we feel we can get consistent outcomes that make our patients happy. Not every specialist needs to offer all surgeries, and when we work together as a community of surgeons referring to others that can offer what we do not, then it is best for our patients. Facial Plastic Surgeons do get considerably more dedicated time in training compared to our general plastic surgery colleagues for all nasal surgeries, including rhinoplasty.

For most of these treatments, results should be visible within 2-3 weeks. Ultherapy results will begin at 2-3 months and may continue to improve up to the 6 month mark.

This patient did not receive fat grafting. Patients dealing with volume loss have several options available to them. They can get fat grafting during their facelift or later on as an in-office procedure. Alternatively, patients can get fillers to replace the lost volume.

Would you recommended a fat transfer or fillers for a patient like this in their 60s. who ends up getting a facelift but may still want the volume they possibly had in their 20s or 30s. Would the skin be able to support this volume, and say you had a lean build similar to this beautiful lady, would you still be able to fat graft. Would there be enough fat to put in through the face?

@@dencentbeatz794 Our surgeons would be able to do fat grafting with patients with a similar build. The amount of fat and where it can be placed will vary significantly from patient to patient. Typically we find fat grafting to be a more cost-effective solution over filler, but both are options usually. At the end of the day, which option you go with will be dependent on your goals and your unique anatomy.

Caffeine is a diuretic, meaning it causes your body to excrete more water. This can alter the results of the water composition portion of your InBody scan.
