actually i disagree on "old fadal" cuz we got 3 of them in the 5020 flavor and they are brute solid. We've gone through brown outs, a blown transformer, lighting strikes in the neighborhood and 1 dumbass accidentally shorting the breaker box and these old bastards are up and humming upon reboot. So no, I disagree on that listing.

Question about old cnc controllers fanuc, etc vs hobby controllers like Acorn, Masso, Linux cnc. What do you think about retrofitting cnc with old controller with one of the hobby controllers. are any of them better than old controller. Because if i am correct retrofitting old fanuc with new one is expensive. Is there any chance to hobby controller to beat controller from newer cnc.

Yes, and "PLC" here is just a name for mahine side of controler software, and dude who wrote it had no previous experience of thipicalc workings of such machines, was not even qualified either way and left no documentation 😂. P.s. spindle makes wierd noise and surface finish looks wierd

If you’re checking it with a cable connector, you have to click through the pins so if they’re jumper together, the first time you hit four you see four and five and the second time you hit the button you see four and five

This is my life lol easiest way is cutting the gear off the motor just like you have done. Ive used ice before on the shaft to cool it down when one got stuck I had to heat it up to pull off and cool the shaft off and try again on an sl. Great vid man. Also it's about 5 min worth of extra work to take the enclosure off around the motor to get more access to encoder on ss.

I must be the only guy that cannot follow this. Tighten this, flip that, take this off, imagine and hit this, pretend this, then do that, boom boom your done. Consider recording a video actually showing the screw being removed and the bearing being assembled. I feel like this video gives more information on how to buy tools from you than it shows removal and assembly of a ball screw and bearing.

So my friend dropped the wire that supplies 24Volts DC to my parts ejector actuator on the sub spindle housing and it went sparky spark. and now I have an extra alarms that says I lost my signal to my Parts catcher, I replaced the 24 vdc power relay on the power module and restored the entire 24 volt circuit, but now I have no LEDS on my sensors and my Pneumatic Solenoids. I don't know if there are no LEDS because there are there are alarms present or if i'm missing a ground to those circuits. We checked are status page and I see the signals on ejector when I jump the wires x065 and x064 and L+. Alarms are ex 2286I work ejector timer over limit and ex 2165F parts ejector lost signal. Have a great day.

This is an advanced video. For starters, cnc lathe is very good. Then 3 axis mill, with through spindle coolant. You can upgrade it to 4 axis in no time. Personally, for me, used hurco lathe and mill. They are conversational machines, you can program something simple very, very fast. They have graphics monitor. Newer machines have dynamic milling options and they have graphics screen. It is so unreal to press alt and measure on screen with a pen!! They also support NC programs, so CAM is the way. Some older software versions are buggy tho, so if you can, 2014+ machines are the way to go. For the fourth axis, Kitagawa Japan all the way. We got lucky, but it survived a few minor crashes. 0.02mm of wobble, for our applications, no need to repair.

You and the algorithms must have read my mind! Just looking into floppy emulator for our Okuma LCS25. Our LC35-II already has it. In fact we have a device laying around which is from a US company (PLR Electronics), bought in 2014 but never got used. It has both a USB-2 port and a network port (don't know the proper name). I have just started programming these machines starting with the small one and did the floppy -MS DOS thing which works fine I guess but it has a real old school vibe to it. Had to go to the DOS prompt in the computer to get the disk properly formatted. Also I have to figure out if it is possible to export the native Okuma file formats like IGF to a computer, we have a lot of existing programs just sitting on separate disks everywhere. Lots of cleaning up to do. Cheers from Holland.

I just had to do the press fit pulley on one of our Haas machines and I wanted to avoid cutting it so I tried just heating it with a torch while it was on the machine and it came right off with little effort. Heat+spin once it started smoking pretty good I hit it with the pry bar and she flew off.

Hi buddy . Like you video & philosophy . A Question. I have a 2002 Multicam MG that has just had a spindle rebuild but the rest of the electronics ( Stepper Drives ) are getting , shall we say " Crispy " . Multicam charge rediculous prices for spares ( If they even hold them ) so i`m looking at refitting with something like Gecko drives & servos. My question is , is it cost effective to go this route or is it better to scrap what is machanically a pretty good machine and buy a brand new NOT Multicam ?
