This is a fan page for Squad Five-O and related bands, specializing in rare concert footage. The "fanclub" concept is a throwback to Squad's Kickstart My Heart fanclub from the late 90s.
If you have rare memorabilia of Squad or any associated acts that you'd like digitized/uploaded, please contact me. Associated acts include BMX, Speedy Delivery, One-21, Blaster the Rocket Man, The Kick, Forever Young, The Reformation, Holy!Holy!, or anything related to the artistic works of Jeff Fortson, John Fortson, Adam Garbinski, Kris Klein, and Dave Petersen.

Dear Ephesus on G-Rock (1998)
G-Rock was a TV show on the TBN network that played Christian punk, ska, and hardcore along with clips of extreme sports. This is the episode hosted by Dear Ephesus. Dear Ephesus was a band from Orlando, Florida on Bulletproof Music. They regularly toured with labelmates such as Squad Five-O and Johnny Respect (guitarist Ed Lamoso is wearing a JR shirt in the video). After the band's breakup, guitarist Brett Levson, bassist Louis DeFabrizio, and drummer Jeff Irizarry would start the band Tenderfoot. Louis eventually formed The Kick and Gasoline Heart. Jeff has drummed for Squad Five-O, Gasoline Heart, Peter Furler (Newsboys), and many more. Ed later formed his own project called The Sweet Kisses.

The Kick LIVE at Will's Pub (2003)

This footage was provided by Brian Countryman. He sent me a VHS of 2 Kick shows. This first one was at Will's Pub in Orlando, Florida on January 29, 2003. The lineup included founder Louis DeFabrizio (formerly of Dear Ephesus and Tenderfoot), Adam Vandegriff (ex-Tenderfoot), Ricky Sibauste, Ian Cook, and John Fortson (also of Squad Five-O). One neat thing about this show is that it includes a n...

This footage was provided by Barb McBride (aka "Concert Mom"). Jeff gives a shout-out to her before the song "Stand Up." This was at a venue just outside of Nashville, I'm guessing November 1997 since Jeff says their tour is winding down and they'll be back home for Thanksgiving. Some interesting things about this show: (1) The footage begins with Jeff freestyle-rapping with someone named Ricky...

Video footage provided by Zach Henderson. The Blackjacks were a punk band from British Columbia, Canada, fronted by Billy Bones. Their previous band was called Thee Pirates and they played several of the same songs. Billy Bones would later front bands called Raised by Wolves and The Vicious Cycles. This footage was provided by Zach Henderson. This was at the Cornerstone Festival in Bushnell, Illinois on July 5, 2002. There are other videos of this show on UA-cam, but none that are this close to the stage! This show was epic for a number of reasons: (1) It was the first Cornerstone since the release of Squad's self-titled album. (2) It was the first time that singer Jeff Fortson stage-dive...
Original Squad Five-O LIVE w/Justin Kohut on drums

This footage was filmed by Barb McBride (aka "Concert Mom"), who is talked about from stage before the song "Stand Up." This is the earliest footage of Squad Five-O available on the internet. To my knowledge, there are no other videos of this era of the band. This was the original lineup with Justin Kohut on drums. On stage, Jeff remarks that Justin would be leaving soon to join the military. I...

Footage provided by Zach Henderson. This video is of Squad's Tooth and Nail Day set at Cornerstone Festival in July 2002. They did a cover set of songs with a dance theme (see pinned comment for song list). They ended the set with an original song (also with a dance theme). This footage was provided by Barb McBride (aka "Concert Mom"). If you know the date and location of this show, please let me know. Guitarist Ed Lamoso says it was somewhere in Alabama. Dear Ephesus was one of the pioneers of emo in the late 90s Christian music scene. Members would go on to form Tenderfoot, The Kick, Gasoline Heart, and The Sweetkisses. Singer Aaron Wiederspahn went on to become...

This footage was provided by Barb McBride (aka "Concert Mom"). This concert was in Stone Mountain, Georgia at a local Christian music festival that was probably called Edge Fest. I'm pretty sure this was Quake 97 at Cafe Express at it's 2nd location in Mt Juliet. There were 10 bands over the course of the day. Sidetracked played earlier in the day. The lead singer and rhythm guitarist are currently mega-church pastors in Mt Juliet and Murfreesboro. Living Sacrifice, a metal band from Little Rock with lead guitarist Rocky Gray who would go on to play drums for the first major Evanescence tour cancelled last minute. Wedding Party, probably the 2nd most successful Christian Goth band of all time played later in the afternoon. I have their performance on a cassette tape. RIP Chad and Will. This show went way into the night. It was headlined after most people left by Klank, the former touring guitarist for Circle Of Dust, an industrial metal band on REX records (with labelmates Sixpence None The Richer) who's lead would eventually do all of the music for Kriss Angel and reinvent himself as Celldweller. I lost a box moving out of my freshman dorm in 1999 that had all of the posters, flyers, setlists, negatives, pictures from the event. It was the first day I ever wore my contacts, and the smoke machine really did work on them.
Wow, thanks for all the info! Do you remember Squad being there, or anything about the rapper?
I called that phone number and asked them to say a prayer for my bong
Kick always tune in A. Funny quirk.
Saw them in Mesa, AZ. The Nile basement.
Fun show! The Kick rules! Thanks for posting!
Saw them in Flint,MI with Me Without You. Maybe 02-04, somewhere on there. First time hearing of them, thought they were good, never heard from em again. Not like we had Spotify or UA-cam then
Check out the video description for more info on what happened to the band.

January 2022. Is this new album out and I have missed it, or is it still in the works?
Unfortunately it is not out yet! They have been teasing stuff on Instagram, so hopefully soon.
Great interview. Moving to part II shortly. Began listening to Squad 5-0 with the release of What I Believe. From 97-00, saw them live multiple times. Still listen to their first two albums to this day, with the 2002 self titled album in the mix as well. Great band with amazing stage presence and energy. Never met them, but they seem like genuinely nice people. Thank you for making the music that you did.
This show was at Pterodactyl in Marietta, GA.
Thank you, Ben! I've been trying to find information about venue and location. Do you remember the date? Was it before or after What I Believe?
I am fairly certain this show would have been early 1997. What I Believe had already been released, since the original artwork had Justin on the cover. After he left, they redid the cover art with the new drummer. I think I still have the Skank Em Danno demo tape around here somewhere...
Very interesting. Another Georgia fan reported that this venue looks too big to be the Pterodactyl. Funny how memories differ! You could be right about What I Believe, but some of the songs seemed to have different lyrics, hence why I thought it hadn't been recorded yet. Also, at one point Jeff talks about their "old demo tape," but there's no mention of What I Believe or Bulletproof. Thanks for all the info!
I'm about 99% sure that's Pterodactyl. ua-cam.com/video/RodOKl0iOEU/v-deo.html
Pterodactyl 97. I'm Mike in 13:09. My band played with Squad a lot. Hand Over Fist, that's why it's my "favorite " song. Great times at that garbage club

You should have asked them about their very strange 911 predictive lyrics for their 2000 song "Bombs over Broadway"...would have loved to hear their response and to the bizarre album cover of that album. They even mention "Ground Zero" in their lyrics...very very odd
Yes, very odd, indeed! I intentionally skipped that conversation because they have talked about it numerous times in other interviews. However, they do bring it up in Part 2 of my interview.
@@SquadFiveOfanclub oh did they? That's good to know I'll have to try to listen to them talking about that, and also check out where it's mentioned in part 2. Thanks for the reply.

Uhh hey why wasn’t I asked to be a part of this Adam? Sorry but did I not play at cornerstone with them once thereby making me an official member? Consider me OFFENDED
Sorry man, I just can't keep up with all the Georgia bands you happen to be in (Squad, Showbread, who else?). Just kidding...your light shines in part two, bro!
I could not agree more with the assessment of the Self Titled era being the golden age of Squad Five-O. I saw them several times that year and every show is still vivid in my mind as some of the best live experiences of my entire life. Cornerstone 2002 was incredible! I have some great photos of their set taken from side stage. Unfortunately I missed the Forever Young set. My friend who was camping with me came back to our site excitedly, telling me all about what I'd missed.
Saw squad at the Skamania in Salem OR. Jeff had bleached hair and the drummer (I forget who) had long brown hair. They took the stage and immediately played the opening chords of Smells Like Teen Spirit, looking just like Nirvana. Crowd went nuts, Jeff stopped and said “you northwesterners. You fall for that every time.” And laughed at all of us. It was great. They also introduced me and my friends to the movie Pootie Tang (Sah dah tay, my damie) and we still quote that movie to this day. Bombs was a great album but More like the Demos would be an awesome rerelease. Great band, great guys.
So epic! Love these guys, I can hear them talk all day

Loved this interview! I remember getting into Squad sometime in college (1998) when I saw a punk rocker walking around campus wearing a Squad Five-O hoodie with the cobra logo. Saw the band live many times and I agree with Jeff, one of the best live shows out there. Lots of fond memories being in the crowd singing/shouting along.

Sure don't, sorry!
I once had the video of C.J.'s performance on the Steel Roots stage. But mailed it to Kevin our singer/guitarist for a promotional EPK or something of the like. I don't really remember for sure. At the time I unfortunately had no ways or means to make any copies. Also by then I believe the band had changed it's name to "The Executed" or had disbanded altogether. A few years ago I asked if he still had the original by chance or a copy? To my dismay he did not have either in his possession. Nor could he tell me who had it or where in the U.S. it could be found. So hopefully it's still out there somewhere? And will make it's way on to YT one day. Punk's Not Dead!!!!✊🏼☠️✊🏼
