Is This An Independent Clause? Yes Or No? Take This Quiz to Find Out!
👉 An independent clause is like a mini-sentence that can stand on its own. It has a subject and a verb, making sense all by itself. It's a complete thought. On the other hand, a dependent clause can't quite make it on its own. Even though it has a subject and a verb, it leaves you hanging without the rest of the story. It needs a little extra info to make it complete.
👩🏽🏫 Note for teachers: Students often mix up dependent clauses. Spend some extra time helping them understand why these clauses aren’t complete thoughts on their own, what is missing, and what needs to be added.
