      Plus with the assistance from the blown flaps etc, the landing speed is slower than most airliners and not much faster than some turboprops. It is truly a remarkable machine.

    The C-17 Globemaster...such a versatile workhorse no matter the situation...pilot did a better job reversing that beast than most do reversing a car. For a big jet...she makes a comparable short landing/takeoff to the C-130....nothing short of impressive!!!!

      Credit to the loadmaster as well! The loadmaster in the back has the ramp and door open and is guiding the pilot to keep them on track and know when to stop

    That's all great. Meantime who is Australia's enemy? It's too busy oppressing its own populace at the bidding of China...

    Wow, reverse on a turbofan? 28 years in this man’s Air Force and I did not know they could do that.

    • @matthewslavin1498
      @matthewslavin1498 2 роки тому

      Technically most if not all turbofan aircraft could theoretically do it since they have thrust reversers. It's more that civilian jets don't do it for multiple safety reasons.

      @goodshipkaraboudjan Рік тому

      You can do it in any airliner. It's just not done because there isn't really a need and they're not built to provide reverse thrust without forward airflow. But it's done rarely, last I heard was a pilot in IOE took a turn a bit wide on the taxiway so the TRG Captain backed it up a bit.

      not really, when you say airborne it more means start up and taxi to the runway and takeoff, not just taking off

    3:38 Protected mobility vehicles? I suppose a rifle is now called an argument persuader? Who comes up with these convoluted names? BTW: Grandma’s got one of these vehicles too. It’s electric and gets her to the Bingo. She leaves her argument persuader at home. :P

      @Ralph Longbottom It is a 15 ton long range infantry squad + support equipment carrier. It allows infantry to be more mobile, move faster and further. An Infantry Mobility Vehicle. In development it was upgraded with more protection so PMV. It is protected against lighter weapons. Explosives weapons , mines, IEDs, RPGs depending where they hit and how many. Not armoured against heavier anti-tank penetrating weapons so not classed as an armoured vehicle. Something like 40 have been wrecked by mines ,IEDs and RPG attacks, last I heard nobody inside one had died so they seem to do what they were designed for. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Damaged_Bushmaster_PMV_at_the_Treloar_Technology_Centre_September_2016.jpg en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Bushmaster_Counter_IED_Lane_Tarin_Kowt.JPG

      @@johncarlaw8633 Thank you for your detailed and informative response. It makes me reflect that this vehicle’s purpose is somewhat similar to that of the Light Horse, which never occurred to me. A modern version of the regiment? Perhaps the vehicle renamed to LHV? A link and salute to our past? My only concern was the name. No disrespect to the use.
