Marlin 30-30 Tactical - 160gr FTX vs 175gr Sub-X Comparison
Quick video on the two loads I have for the Marlin 30-30 Tactical, using 160gr FTX and 175gr Sub-X.
It's less of a comparison between the two, as they're not really comparable, and more of the grouping (and drop) using the same distance, and same zero for both.
Not sure what the practical use for the Sub-X is, maybe cowboy style shooting, but it sure is fun !!
Thanks for watching !

CZ 455 MSR - Groups at 50m

The CZ 455 MSR was my first CZ, purchased back in 2019, and one I haven't been able to part with. I've got some new parts coming, but as it stands, it's the CZ 455 action, with the standard CZ MSR Carbon wrapped barrel, sitting in a MDT LSS-RF (rimfire) chassis, topped with a Vortex Venom 5-25x56 scope, and attached to my trusty Accu-Tac SR5 G2 bipod. I'm using Geco Rifle ammunition, being 40gr...
Marlin 30-30 Tactical - First Hornady 175gr Sub-X Hand Loads

Quick first shot video using Hornady's 175gr Sub-X projectiles for the 30-30. These are loaded using the new ADI tables, and have a muzzle velocity of approx 1063 FPS. Not going to lie, I was rather hesitant shooting the first one, as I wasn't even sure it would exit the barrel, but I'm still here, and will be reloading a LOT more of this in the future ! Thanks for watching !

Howa 65CM - Bench Groups at 100m

Following on from my last 65CM video, in which I decided I needed to spend more time behind this rifle, I ran a longer string of 5 round groups at 100m from the bench, to see if I work towards tightening up there groups, before playing with the powder load I'm using, the powder being ADI's 2206H I think it helped, so I'll continue on this path for a bit longer, and see what results I can get. Grabbed some Fiocchi 60gr EPN ammunition at the recent SSAA Shot Expo in Melbourne, so ran a quick test to see how this grouped, as previous tests haven't gone well with heavier projectiles. Happy to say 60gr shot well on this initial test, so well see how this goes. Thanks for watching.

With the new Zerotech 1-6 LPVO fitted, along with all the other parts, it's off to the range to zero and test, using Fiocchi 55gn EPN ammunition. Started at 25m to get on paper, moved to 50m, and then out to 100m, which will likely be my zero going forwards, unless I bring to back to 50m for a more ISPC style setup. Continuing the prone theme with the 65CM at 100m. I thought I'd mix it up, both from a shooting position, as well as a camera position, and shoot prone on my KYL rack at 50m , and 100m, using the CZ 457 LRP. As usual, the LRP is in the MDT ACC Premier Gen 1 chassis, with the Vortex Venom 5-25x56 FFP scope, and attached to the Accu-Tac SR5 G2 bipod up front. I'm using GECO rifle ammo, which it seems to like. Thanks of watching.

I thought I'd try something different, as opposed to just seeing if it'll group off a bench, so I put a paper rabbit at 25m, a paper goat at 50m, and a paper boar at 75m, with 2 inch splatter targets on each, and shot off the tripod with a bag. Bear in mind the zero is at 100m, so the first shot or two at each are off as I worked out the holds, and I learned that a pump needs to be run differen...

What's the point?
@@TomWakeman-ul7om apart from shooting a beautiful rifle, and seeing if I could do better than the last time, none whatsoever.
Had mine for a month, couldn't wait to move it on, terrible accuracy, jamming all the time and that trigger at 5 pounds is nothing short of crap and all that for 4k heaps of better options out there, even the 7615 tricked up a bit is far more accurate and reliable and way more $$$ friendly.
@@garybalasa3158 that’s unfortunate and thankfully hasn’t been my experience to date, so fingers crossed it doesn’t change.
my Howa hates 168 grain bullets, but does great with 175
@@poppasquat8483 might have to try some 175’s, and see how that goes, as I haven’t found it’s sweet spot yet.
@@Its_range_day went through 7 different brands till I found mine. PPU Match 175 gets me 0.17 MOA three shot groups
@ I’ll have to find some, and try it !!
SCA Taipan is junk, Wedgetail MPR a bit better if you can put up with the 5 pound trigger or spend another grand for an after market one, had both wouldn't touch either brand again unless some serious design changes were made, I'm all for supporting Aussie made but only if it's worth the support. Went back to the Warwick and realised just how much better the quality and function is, its one thing to beg for Aussie support but how about putting something on the table worth supporting.
@@garybalasa3158 I’ve shot the Taipan, and prefer the Wedgetail. I haven’t shot the Warwick or the OP, so I can’t really comment, but if there’s anyone who wants to lend me one, or both, for a head to head comparison, let me know.

@@tommy.22lr Thank you ! Last time I ran these through a chrono it was a little over 3000fps.
@Its_range_day dang man those things are cookin!
The zerotech LPVO is SFP isn't it ? not FFP ? How do you find it ? Great videos on the Wedgetail Mini btw, really helpful
@@desp6238 yes it is SFP. I prefer FFP, but the glass is very clear, and the reticle good, if a little small …. But that’s probably me being used to FFP’s. Thanks, there are more to come on the Wedgetail.
Don't see them very often so you might be able to answer, is the windowed PMAG 10/30 actually useful? I just assumed youd get a view of the pin and blockout that sits in the bottom of the mag through it. Unless ofc its an actual PMAG 30 in which case, never mind.
@@BTechUnited TBH, not really. I got it on a whim when I picked up the rifle, and I personally think the 10 shot PMAG’s that come with it are too short, so I thought I’d try it. There’s a mid version I like the length of, but they’re pricey, so value wise the standard 10 shot ones are hard to beat.
@Its_range_day Interesting, in my experience the 10/30s were more expensive than the 10/20s, but your mileage may vary. Of course, I have the mags but still waiting on my MPR to actually use them! Thanks for the reply.
@@BTechUnited best I’ve found for the 10/30 or the 10/20 was $90, which hurts the wallet compared to the $31 I’ve seen the standard PMAG going for. If you know where I can get the 10/20’s cheaper, let me know !!
@@Its_range_day Sadly not, I misread your comment and thought you found the 30 rounders to be cheaper than the 20s. Both are absolutely ludicrous compared to the 10 rounder sadly.

@real.presets absolutely. Haven't shot the 308 in a while, so I'll get it out this weekend !
@Its_range_day thank you so much
Great video mate! I just paid for mine today! I know Wedgetail said you can take the rails off on the handguard, if you wanted to run it on the bag, could you take the bottom rail off, meaning the action woudl be protected by the rail in the bottom. It would effectively turn it into a weird straight pull (on a bag at least) but could be an option?
Thanks Declan ! I had thought about that, but as you say, wasn't sure how the action would work if I did. I'll be testing the Magpul Vertical Rail Grip in a coming video, so if that's not much help, I'll try taking there bottom rail off, and see what happens.
No eye pro?
@@RuckinBrit Probably should have, and will be going forwards, especially with this one.

My pro Varmint loves Fed Auto Match. It also shoots lights out with SK Standard Plus that has been reprofiled with the Waltz die. I press them from .980 over all length to .960 with the Eley flat button tipped die with the ogive pressed to .2255 from .224 and it shoots sub MOA @ 100 consistently with maybe 1 flier in 20/30 rounds.

Kinda surprised. I have a 457 AtOne American with a stock 16 inch match barrel (from Ebay) installed and it loves the Tac. It shoots jagged one hole 5 shot groups regularly @ 50.
My LRP, which has a match barrel seems to like it better, but I still get flyers. These could be me (more than likely) or I got a batch that neither rifle likes, but I do think it deserves some more testing, so stay tuned.
What barrel is that?
It's a 16in varmint barrel @BIGDEZUL.
@@Its_range_day I’ve been looking for one. Do they ever come back in stock?!
Sadly not often enough @BIGDEZUL, I ended up buying the entire rifle, then dropped it into a MDT XRS chassis I had.
@@Its_range_day I’m thinking about buying the 20” and having it cut and threaded. I’m impatient 😂
I couldn't get a 20, so settled for the 16, which in the HMR is a LOT of fun !!
I have my 22LR trainers in 455 and 457. CZ did also make an excellent .223 rifle with the bolt action 527. Mine is in a MDT chassis and excellent for shooting range out past 500 yards. I run Norma TAC 22 ammo as well in my 22LR trainers. Although it provides the best groups, ours average about .750 MOA (5 shot groups), we also like the consistency of the TAC ammo. I can call my shots with it up to 100 yards. We (wife and I) typically shoot 100 yard range with 10-15 mph cross winds. At end of each target we shoot for hole punch. Sometimes it's hard to tell on the 50 yard range - because the holes are on top of one another. Both guns shoot under .50 MOA on 50 yards. We shoot a lot and have a lot of fun with the accuracy of these CZ rifles. Over the past few years I've noticed an increase in these 22LR trainers at the range. Maybe its the lower cost in ammo, but we'd like to think it because they're a lot of fun to plink.
I love my 22LR Trainers @marw1920 ! I had the 527 as well, in the MTR stock, and when it worked, it was beautiful to shoot, but I had so many feeding issues I ended up selling it. Your comments on TAC-22 are interesting,, as I always seem to have flyers, so it might be the batch I have (more likely it's just me), so I'll do some more testing in future videos.
What rifle is it a bloody lot of feeding issues?
It’s a CZ457 LRP (Long Range Precision), and it’s not a huge fan of the lower priced Eley. It seems to prefer SK, which is very hard to get in Australia at the moment.
Nice shooting, I found the ELEY Sports [Green Box] to be perfect in my 455 16" heavy barrel, like a competition round! easily getting 1 MOA at 50m, getting 1/2 inch groups consistently. Before that I was on SK Match, which were very nearly as good. All depends on the individual gun of course...
And it’s pretty nicely priced as well !
@@Its_range_day Added bonus!!! I think I get it for £7 a box [50] here in Ireland, meanwhile my 7.62X54R eats £1.10 per round!
Nice shooting! What ammo are you running?
I think I was using GECO Rifle for this one @PT9mmWraith. Unfortunately it's not available in Australia at the moment.
@markfussell9313 I'm building a similar 457 right now but 20in barrel. Looks like geco doesn't export to US either.
Nice @PT9mmWraith. I've found each of my CZ's seem to like different ammo, but CCI Standard Velocity seems to work reasonably well with all of them, considering the price. If I need better accuracy, as opposed to just general plinking, I'll grab SK (when I can get it) or Eley, Norma's TAC-22 isn't bad either.
