A DAY OUT IN CHRISTCHURCH|HISTORY TOUR|DOCUMENTARY
Sadly, in a rush to claim 'cover up', there is a complete failure here to recognise that this was wartime and other factors were at play. Also, sadly, the video clearly uses photos that have nothing to do with this incident without making that clear.
Love those old photo's, particularly as I lived in Lymington between 1956 and 1960ish. I was only 4 when we left, but I've been back to look at the place, a few times. We lived on Waterford Lane, in a red brick house, called Monks Orchard. Sadly, it has been rendered in white. I still have memories of a local park, the town railway station and watching the steam train leave the quay and steam towards us. My mum used to take me to the IoW, on the ferry, me in the child's seat on the back of her bicycle. My grandad worked at Wellworthy as shown. Thanks for the memories!
No problem thanks for watching
Cool
Thanks
Such an achievement. So beautiful and so sad. One suggestion: smaller captions.
Thanks for watching
Great video I’ve learned so much about him ❤
Thanks clara
I don’t know enough about Dylan Thomas. I must read more. This bitter sweet vid gives me the chills. What a tragic end to a great artist. The actress Katherine Hepburn is reported to have called Wales, the most beautiful country on earth. ❤ Thanks for sharing.
You’re welcome, the place has such a wonderful energy. It was no wonder that he drew such inspiration for his works there
I have always thought that the ripper was a woman, Why I don’t know it’s a feeling. What looks obvious is never the case.
Hell hath no fury. The ripper is a great case, the fact that we may never know makes it more interesting. I’m sure it will be debated forever
Great photos, shame about the music…
Thanks for watching
Great vid mate but did you know you captured a ufo in it ,look and 4.26secs and to the right middle😮
Yeah I just looked it up, could be . Thanks for sharing
You make UA-cam a better place.
@@eerievibes6854 as do you
@@eerievibes6854 thanks so much
The wars keep going on. Will it ever stop? It will not…
Thanks for watching
Fascinating, but I could done without the flashing effect.
If you go to the channel there’s the same video without the flashing that I made if you want to watch
Avenue Road looked a lot prettier then than it does now.
Thanks for watching
Thanks for fine gallery of photos. My mother was 7 when the 1909 pics were taken. I went to Roper Street (CoE School) 1946-51. The one pic I recognise is the horse bus (at the Broadway). The famous Thomas Tilling. TfL garages still witness him in their codes, eg TL for Catford, TB for Bromley. Avery Hill was hit by a bomb in WW2.
You’re welcome hope you enjoyed
By the time I read the writing the picture is gone. Give us a chance to look at the details on the pictures
Sorry it’s a bit quick, but you can always pause. I looked online and took an average and worked from that but I hope if you pause it will help, thanks for watching anyway
Wonderful collection of photos that brought back memories of my early 1950s childhood when Bushey was still not a lot different from these photos. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it could you like the video please if that’s ok with you
@@darkdreamsinc. Already done😄
Often go to Helmsley tea rooms. Great to see how it was. Thanks
You're more than welcome thanks for Watching, could you give the video a like 👍 please
Buddy had his own key and locked the door on his way out
I went to the C of E school on Roper St and I remember seeing the old workhouse before it was pulled down. I am now 67.
Thanks for Watching
Hi. Thanks for this video on Treasure Holt. I'm doing a video on this topic for this weekend, and I was wondering if I might get permission to use some of the pictures/ footage in your video? I will of course be sure to credit your channel and link to this video, which will hopefully drive more traffic to Dark Dreams. Time wise, I'm on a bit of a tight schedule, so I'd appreciate it if you were able to let me know in the next 12 hours...that sounds very demanding, so do say no, or ignore this. But I only just found your video tonight. BTW if it turns out you don't actually own the rights to the images, then if you could let me know who I ought to ask permission from. Thanks again for this!
You're more than welcome to use what you need and I hope it helps you,I first found this place thanks to most haunted all those years ago and I had to visit . Would have liked to do a hunt there . Good luck my friend
@@darkdreamsinc. Wonderful. Thank you for such a swift response. I'll be sure to tag you in the video, with all the appropriate credits. Many thanks!
Seeing these photos makes you realise what a mess we have made of Eltham!
Thanks for Watching, hope you enjoyed, can you leave a thumbs up 👍 please
A valid point, Eltham has certainly lost a lot of its charm. However, balancing the negative side of progress, Eltham has also lost rickets, dysentery, polio, tuberculosis and other poverty driven ailments. Yes, as sad as losing so much is, I retain a glass half full outlook.
It seems that the subtitles might be auto-generated, as there are several mistakes in these captions, e.g Hengersbury (Hengistbury) Head, Mr. Rose (Rolls), right (Wright), and the complete lack of capital letters, all of which make this film seem rather amateurish. Furthermore the recent aerial view of the crash site and the modern street map are not at the same scale. Considering historical details, no mention is made of the alteration Rolls made to the tailplane of his aircraft the evening before his fatal crash and which may well have been the cause of the accident. More research is needed to raise the historical profile of this 'documentary'.
Bit much mate, not a professional just thought people might find it interesting, thanks for watching anyway 👍
A few images of buildings I remember as a child [mid-30s and 40s
Hope you enjoyed watching
So many memories of the area in the fifties. Just thought all old properties and shops were normal then. Remember the war time beach debris that was from Poole to Southampton Water. Oftentimes going to the Arne peninsula and Shell bay area was tricky as so many explosives remained. Many footpaths to the beach and dunes were strictly fenced to prevent us kids straying. Lovely pictures and thanks for posting.
Your welcome hope you enjoyed. If you could, would you like 👍 the video to help others to find it
It seems no more growded then than it is now in my opinion ...
Thanks for Watching though could you do me a favour and like 👍 the video for me please
Excellent. Many thanks.
Your most welcome, could you like 👍 the video for me please
Just to say that can't be goathorn at 10:17 but could be Ridge wharf
Brilliant. Brought back memories of my childhood in the 50’s and 60’s . Sadly I agree with previous comments, so much change and Pompey seems to have lost much of its character.😒
I agree, glad you enjoyed thanks for Watching, can you like the video please
and now london is a shithole
The flickering is terrrible
If you go to the channel there's a version available without the flickering, thanks for watching
Any Info on Chessum House, Lansdowne drive E8? Cant find any info online. Only that it was the Assembly Hall for the Hackney Board School..
I can look into it
love seeing old photos of places i live in and know well.
Glad you enjoyed

Fantastic memories of Darlington through the year's very poignant memories 😊
Glad you enjoyed it
I really like the picture and the look at it now it's not a town no more very sad 😢😢
So many places will never be the same, thanks for watching anyway
I live in the new Forrest a place called Fordingbridge
I also live in the forest
My childhood home has an air fair shelter. My Nan was on a bus when the bus was hit .
Lovely. My mum would have recognised all that. She was born in Avery Hill in 1907.
Hope you enjoyed
Photos are too fast. Can’t see them before they are gone. Do this one again please with more time to view.
I agree to fast and music is not good
Making my eyes hurt, can’t enjoy pictures with all the crap in the way, sorry
There's a version on the channel without it, made for better viewing, thanks for watching
Tell us about the building.
Wow. Amazing images. Is there anyway I can get access to them or more alike?
Thanks screenshot away if you want, I'm sure there's more images of hackney online, I founds many as I could, I'm glad you enjoyed, there's a bunch of memories of videos on the channel from other places as well if you want to watch. Could you if possible, 👍 like the video and subscribe if you want, cheers
Don't turn your back on them. And DON'T BLINK!
I didn't, I watched them all the way through, freaked me out
Digitally remastered NPC’S 😂👌🏼
The pictures would be interesting if you could see them. The flickering makes the video unwatchable.
There is also a version that doesn't flicker on the channel if you want to watch
The railway both made & destroyed Darlington.
Good memories from a little more than 50 years ago, l lived in Barton and the George was my 'local' l remember Reg who was ex army, maybe CSM or something, ran a good house kept all in check. There was a music shop ran by a young man, l think it was in the Pantiles shops but l have no idea which one, he used to send sheet music all over the world from that little shop, l think his name was 'Aiden'.
Great memories
Horrible music and the ship isn’t a cruise ship it’s a ocean liner
I remember Queens Road Methodist Church before they pull it down in the late 70's /80's . My mum would go to the jumble sales in the church. I went to the school behind the church John Donne primary school.
Amazing memories
Great video. My family member was Levi Lockyer who lost his life. His body was never recovered. 🙏🏻
Sorry to hear that but thanks for Watching, could you like 👍 please
