Yup, They’re Real - Anita Wood
The 1960s were such a swingin’ time. And no other female vocalist of the era (apart from the incredibly talented Tamara West) could have men swooning and making their hearts skip a beat than Miss Anita Wood.
Her electrifying performances and soft voice sold out lounge clubs up and down the Eastern Seaboard. She was compared to both Jayne Mansfield and Marilyn Monroe but they could never hold a candle to her beauty and talent.
“Yup, They’re Real” was so controversial for its time that most clubs restricted Anita from singing the song but she’d defy their requests and sing it anyway. Unlike her contemporaries, her career flourished and she managed to be lifted up and find success in other facets of the entertainment industry.

On April 15, 1962, we were introduced to the incomparable sounds of the one and only, Winston Carter, and his most popular hit of the year, “That Bitch Ain’t Gettin’ None of My Money”. Meant to be a B Side release, by the encouragement of his manager and agent, famed in the industry, Saul Campbell, it was released as a solo track and went on to dethrone every track on the radio at the time. Oh, that Tamara West. After her last amazing performance and appearance on Randy Wilson and hit record, we knew one day she would grace us with her beautiful voice and put out another track. We had no idea how vengeful she really was. Passive aggressive, oh sure. But this? We really think she had a thing for glitter. Who knows?

    these astroturfed comments are ridiculous. at some point you have to STOP the illusion and let the consumer receive the product. we ALl loved Whacky Packages when we in second grade but you're going too far with the comments and also the "dirty blues" theme is only ONE angle and you're stretching it too far.

    What a gorgeous woman! No tats, piercings, unkept hair, etc., this is how glamourous women used to look. I've heard of other Motown artists that were turned off by Berry Gordy's BS. I'd take Tamara over Rihana any day.

    • @TheEuphonicEngineer

      She had a purity but at the same time, she was a little difficult to get along with. Her defense mechanism, some say, based on her dealings with Gordy as well as others. Rihanna had nothing on her. Nor did Ms. Whitney Houston. Whitney got her style from Tamara. Her street smarts really helped her become the success she was.

    Tamara was one of the first female artists on Motown in 1962. Unfortunatley she didn't get along with label mates Marvin Gaye and Millie Small calling them pompous parasites and Berry Gordy, although he didn't know what that meant, thought it sounded bad so he dropped her from the label in 1971. She later signed with Stax and her first single there was " Berry Gordy Is An A-Hole" which reached #3 on the charts. Gordy tried to sue her but the judge ruled against him citing "Fishhead vs Numnuts" so Gordy got his revenge by keying her car.

    • @TheEuphonicEngineer
      @TheEuphonicEngineer Місяць тому

      That’s only part of the story. And most of what IS known has been hidden from the public… until now! Tamara was a legend. She was one of the first women from the world of Motown to go commando. She did have a rather nasty drug habit, but was able to kick it, thanks to a mysterious man she never talked about, especially because of his particular set of abilities. Just like every musician that found their way into the 70s, Tamara was no different in the fact that she wanted a film career. She was one of the first unknown musician turned actor of color to star in a series of blaxploitation films. She was a superstar! When Barry Gordy saw all of this, he regretted his decision to let her go from her contract. He begged her to come back but there was no way, unless he caved to her demands. Regardless, fame got the best of her and she chose to retire early in her career. She disappeared from the public eye and has yet to be found. Rumors have it she may be making a comeback as she could be secretly recording new material in private. But it’s all conjecture.

      Yup. AI. And, this song was not fed through an AI filter. It was created with a website called Suno AI, having been created by typing in a text and letting the website do the work. After, I am ported it into an app called Weights, where you can choose a voice model, Billy Joel in this case, it converts the voice from the song into someone else’s. Admittedly, this isn’t the best “Billy Joel“ song that go back into his library, and listen to his most recent one, as well as songs like “And So It Goes“. Pretty good examples of low energy songs. Not everyone at Billy Joel‘s songs can be “You May Be Right“. Thanks for listening. 👊🏼😎

      @TheEuphonicEngineer 2 місяці тому

      I couldn’t agree with you more. I’m sure there are other platforms and other paid services that have much better voice models, but I used a freemium app that uses, for the most part, voices trained by individuals using the app. I truly don’t think you’re going to get the amazing results one might want going that route. Take a look at the new song Randy Travis has out. Yes, the technology they used to create it is very professional, but it’s still AI. My mom was always a big fan of John Denver in the 70s when I was a kid. I dedicated this song to her. Thanks for listening! I appreciate you!

This very topic is truly becoming scary but the good that can be done with it. Look at Randy Travis‘s new song, partially done with the help of AI.
