While it was very interesting listening, the story does not go long enough. There is nothing about his shoot down or being a POW it ends abruptly in the middle of his service

Why does it matter how tall you are to join the military? If they send you to war to fight the Japanese they are shorter than 5' 6".

Thanks so much for this post. My father, Marvin Ramsey Price (aka: Shorty or Blacky Price), would have been on the Saratoga with Mr. Hutchins. My dad was also from Mississippi (Lawrence County), I certainly want to thank you for your service to our country. Not sure many men today would or could perform the way you all did in the forties.

I server on the USS Constitution in 1997-2000 and never even knew my real grandfather had served in WW2 and in the Navy. I wonder if mr Hutchins knew my grandfather?

I am So VERY BLESSED to know "Billy B" I feel honored to be able to help him out with a few things around his place. As a fellow Veteran and a brother in Christ we have laughed and cried together on numerous occasions. I have to thank his nephew "Tom Frank" for introducing me to him. My only regret is that Frank, who I have known for about 30 years, hadn't introduced me to Billy that many years ago. Thanks for your service and for all the memories you and I have shared. I can honestly say " I love you brother, and pray for many more memories with you!" Little Joe
