Pretty difficult techy/proggy acoustic melodeath song, took me about 3 months to perfect. Open C tuning in the key of C Maj. Can provide tabs on request.

Devin Townsend Project - live at the Royal Albert Hall 2015 - Funeral, Bastard and Death of Music
Переглядів 800 тис.8 років тому
These three songs were the best part of the night for me. Not that the rest of the night was bad, mind you....but these songs!! As great as all of Devin's other stuff has been, there's something so raw and pure about all of the songs on Ocean Machine, especially these three. And you can see it in the way Devin behaves during the performance. I screamed like a little girl when he announced he wou...
A true and fantastic artist, my first contact with his music was with "City" the SYL album, back in 1998, several years later, thanks to UA-cam, found him again following Anneke Van Giersbergen (they have several collaborations, all recommended)
I come back to DT periodically, and I have obviously commented before....but every time it's like the heavens open up and there you are...floating in acceptance, love and triumph all at the same time......
what's the song at 10:00?
A nice “ heavy metal Pink Floyd” vibe;)))….i LOVE IT
This music is a blessing on all of us...thank you Devin!
I just got a friend into Devin. He and his wife adore him now.
This was really pretty good 👍
Funeral was the song I would listen to as I leaned out of the window in my freshman year of uni smoking weed. That was back in 2006. Jeez
Who can help me with EKO by Dev? Cant' find it on youtube... I know him since Ocean Machine. What a genius! Walls of sound! Even a now 64 yr old loves such music. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤Oh, gosh, my poor ears, hihi 🐻❄️IceIce
Tears in my eyes from 0830 this is so good !
Provided it played in its entirety each time, this 28 minute video has played for over 42 years!
And shot by (among others) the late great John Metcalfe.
This is amazing. What a performance. He absolutely pours his entire soul into it.
The DTP light inlays in the guitars is so sweet
My first time here was in 2019, been here ever since. Devin work needs to be preserved!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Anyone notice he gave himself goosies!!!! (Goose bumps/chicken skin) 26:56
12:50 This guy is seeing through time and space
This triumvirate of sonic catharsis leaves me lovingly torn to pieces.
Such an amazing version, gives me chill every time
This version of Funeral is wild... it's performed so well, captured and recorded so perfectly, that I am sort of left speechless by it. This whole concert might legitimately be the best live performance I have ever seen.
Emotional masterpiece. I have nothing more to say...
What a voiceeeeer❤
i knew about DT fron the Vai album but with every song I get more impress with his delivery, I guess this is greatness confronted straight on
Always keep coming back to this video. The music, the voice, the pure sound, the quality, the edits. It's perfection
This is one of the greatest videos I've ever seen. Devin is superhuman. I cant stop watching this.
0:55 Devin: "stop clapping the wrong beat, you f***ing noobs"
i love hairless and the hendersons
What a powerfull voice he has ... it's unbelivable 🤩✌
So powerful. By the end of Death of Music it never fails to bring a tear to my eye
Despite going to see Devin in Plovdiv and seeing the Retinal Circus live, I still watch this and kick myself for not seeing this live.
Bro you dont even know how luxky you are.
This is why aliens are interested in invading our planet, one thing, Devin Townsend.
what an awesome set of tunes. Definitely, DTP is the best experiment/era from Devin., hands down !
These songs are from before DTP
@@essier5 well, maybe the arrangements, definitely sounds better that way, way better than the SYL era..
Devin Townsend is a nowhere man, returning as an earth dweller. Sure he have the answer of Lennon's question: "How Many Holes Would It Take To Fill The Albert Hall?" I imagine he fell into one of them, exploring the string theory and sings to us what he experienced there. He is a kind of Lord Voldemort, on the bright side of the Moon. This live recording with the end of "Ocean Machine" reminds me the end of "Joshua Tree", where "The Death Of Music" is a parallel of "Exit", with a heavier sound. So good vibrations 🙂
This band is doing wonders for the bald community
Incredible. Every hair on my body is standing
Spent the day in court trying to see my grandkids. Thanks Devin. I need this to persevere.
@14:08 is so powerful. What an incredible talent he is.
Well everyone talking about how good this is. i find this very poorly mixed soundwise.. cant hear shit from instruments.. just all one ball of sound o.O
Wow, sound and performance amazing in a crazy higher level, brings to tears, this man deserves a medal and a trophy ❤
Just discovered this Musical Genius 2 weeks ago...I fell in love at first listen...never too old to listen to new music
One could find this dude´s music being 70 and it would still make skin shiver. PD: I'm listening to this after listening DT for more than 4 years now and it feels like the first time... This songs feel alive. I can almost smell the ocean

The universe prepared you for now so you’re ready to binge-listen to Devin around the clock, whereas you couldn’t do that in previous stages of your life and arrive here.
That's what I said to myself when I discovered his music in 2020.His music should be everywhere.Devin is without a doubt my favorite artist since I first heard him.
The best 28 minutes in mankind history!! 😎
Damn. I even forgot that "death of music" existed. How did I even forget that ?! Thanks for reminding me it exists.
Just an effing wall of out of this world music by Devin.
Jesus, here lies my brother Tortured and blown Stretch for the heavens and go ...I watch him go Here it comes Jesus was a poor boy Jesus was a poor boy "It's justa spring clean for the May queen" I'm coming home And this one's for the life This one's for the funeral in the rain And if only for tonight This one's for the funeral in the rain The day's gone and the year's gone And I don't know when I'm coming home I can't hold on to what I've had When what I've had There's nothing left at all... So this one's for the life This one's for the funeral in the rain And if only for tonight Close your eyes and try to sleep again... A world away, you turn away I'm wide awake, and I don't need your home Tell me why he went, it seems to be An element to this mystery It's so cold today, so I get away, and I'm left behind with nothing but words...
Ladies and Gentlemen, possibly the greatest 30 minutes in (live) music history right here.
The BEST 30 minutes you can ever spend is listening to this.
"Funeral" has an incredible melodic line! Great song!!
He should get a knighthood for raising money for the NHS. His lock down livestreams are/were amazing
I don't think he will accept it anyway, just out of his own humbleness
