Pepperidge Farm remembers when graphics cards had 64MB of VRAM.
now this is a real benchmark
I wonder how openmw would run
I like that you appear to actually be running the pre-orange box version of HL2. The tell is the reticle. Very cool
Using fraps to measure FPS is just the cherry on top

@@Wujek_Foliarz That's true...i've noticed it too, but i can do nothing... its the effect from the timedemo^^ But it doesn't impact the performance. When I recorded the demo everything was fine
Hell yeah.
Good video.😊😊😊
play bully
maybe in the future. I know this game its very cool:)
The scalability of this game is awesome but at the same time seems like all cards were pushed to their limits when it came out. Did you also change the directx version? That water looks like directx6
I have changed nothing, i have installed Direct X9. This is due to the graphics card. Geforce 3 Ti does not support Direct X9 or Shader Model 2. Geforce 4 Ti 4200 has the same Problem... If you get a ATi RAdeon 9600 Pro than the Water looks fine (Direct X9 Card). In NFS Most Wanted you have the siliar situation like Half Life 2... if you set Visual Treatman High, you still don't have the full Effect because of the lack of Direct X9.... it looks better than without but its only the half Effect like it should be...
This video, the music, the editing, the specs of the PC, the game... it really is like I'm a kid again. Awesome.
Thanks, I was wondering if I could run it
Nostalgia 😁
why did you waste your time doing this?
I had an Athlon XP 1600+ paired ATI Radeon 8500 LE (also 64 MB) with system also having 512 MB RAM. Game ran pretty well on high at 1024x768! Later on I pushed it to 1152x864 when I saw how much more convenience that little extra space provided, it looked great on a decent 17" CRT. Thanks for a nice trip down memory lane! Morrowind is still the best cRPG I ever played :)
i remember playing morrowind on a 256mb video integrated card
Nice vid :D back then i had no net and only gaming magazines to make my choices. Got it running well on an ATI 9200, amazing game.
you should do a follow-up showing how vivec city and combat runs
good idea, maybe i will in the future, because its so much work to record so many games for testing or benchmarking. Its really a big Projekt.
I played Oblivion in 2007 on my first pc: 800x600, low settings, 15-20 fps... 😊
The first time i played Morrowind in 640x480 with 10-20 fps with my first Pentium 3 667 MHZ 128 MB SDR Ram and TNT 2 Pro PC^^
Can't wait for Geforce 4 to come out!
I have the GEforce 4 Ti 4200 64 MB. I hope the card will continue to run well until I have finished the videos and the benchmarks
This takes me back - cool to see it running on original hardware!
Still amazes me they got a playable version of this game on original Xbox.
I played it on Riva TNT 32MB and 128MB of RAM 😂. And even finished it (and it wasn't an easy game for a kid). If I remember correctly I got like 5-20fps.
now do san andreas and vice city
Allready Done:)
This is peak gaming
vibe of this vid is indescribable🔥
epic
That system could handle screen recording?
I recorded it using a capture card that I connected to my newest and more powerful PC. I just connected the VGA port of the graphics card to the capture card and connected the capture card to the new PC via USB and recorded with the new PC
@@retro4fun358 Ah, that explains it. Nice results btw. I know nothing about the how to, so this is very informative.
such a good game
If not for the 1080p resolution, I'd believe this video was uploaded back in 2010 lol.
i have recorded this video with my capture card . I have choosen the same resolution as the game. Only 1280x1024 is different and i have choosen 1280x960 but its almost the same . I could record this in 1080 p too but then i would only have 30 fps maximum and the vidoe would be stretched because the game has 4:3 aspect ratio
thanks for sharing! I think I see the "witness of the era" videocard running this game for the first time :D to think of it, it's like trying to run GTA4 on let's say GeForce GTX 760😀 don't know if I'm 100% correct with this analogy though.
Its not exactly the same but GTA 3 wasn't really good optimized... I remember that my first PC Pentium 3 667 MHT, 128 MB SDR Ram and TNt 2 Pro couldn't handle this game well even in Low Resolution and details but it was playable. earlier 20 fps was playable^^ nowadays people want 120 FPS or even more.... GTA Vice City runs definetely better than GTA 3
This music sucks!
Its not about the music its' about the FPS:) This isn't a music channel by the way I have only put the NFS Hot Pursuit 2 OST here.
@@retro4fun358 The music sucks
@@retro4fun358 music is fine. don't listen to all those screamers :v
compared to whatever Heat & Unbound offered in terms of soundtrack, it's an actual music to my ears
@ The music sucks
I dont know why but that game always felt kinda weird to me
The game world is smaller and you can pick up fewer objects than in the first part. The physics also strange. But it's still a solid game, but unfortunately a step backwards compared to part 1.
Really impressive looking foliage for the time.
The leaves of the trees looked really good, as did the water reflections. Unfortunately, the textures look very muddy and the characters don't look good either. But for such a huge open world game, the graphics were OK for the time. Unfortunately, the game is very buggy and has performance problems
you should show the naval combat, my old Pentium 4 set jiggle like hell whenever I look at those ship fighting, it the real benchmark for aoe3
yes its not the worst case scenario which I have tested. But the Pentium 4 already limits there... I guess if you have a Dual Core CPU, you will see higher FPS and much less Frame drops
Enemy Boat Spotted!
Wow, looking at this really reminds me of 12 years ago where I played Oblivion on my Axioo (local brand) laptop that has i3-2310M, 2GB RAM and Intel HD 3000 and it performs more or less similar to this video xD the memories are coming back to me haha Now I play Oblivion at 120 fps with my RTX 4070 laptop.. I much prefer the state I'm in right now, but looking back on old specs gameplays like this is always fascinating.
I have recently become interested in computers from the early 2000s. I don't remember what I had in my computer from 2006, but I would build such a device and play games from that period. I read that it's a different experience and it's not about nostalgia, it's really a different experience
For me its both in one hand its nostalgia becasue of the old games, and on the other hand I became interested in retro hardware because I want to know how the games run with old graphics cards. Since I can only find very few or no videos of many old graphics cards on the Internet and especially on UA-cam, I decided to make such videos myself. My project is big. This is just the beginning^^
Thanks bro! I've now placed an order of 3 Radeon X600 XT's! this proved very helpful :D!!!!
Nice:) but i hope you have ordered the right X600 XT because most of this used cards haven't got the real X600 XT clock speed! SO be carfeul. Here are the specs of a real X600 XT www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/radeon-x600-xt.c24 Unfortunately this cards aren't cheap because they are rare. If you like the X600 series, I would definitely go for the XT version. This card is noticeably faster than a X600 Pro and can even compete with the Geforce 6600! I'm glad my benchmark videos helped you to buy a X600 XT:) I have spent 20€ with shipping for this card and i was really lucky:)
Had Core2Duo and 7600GT, literally lived in between school and the zone
Definetely not a bad system:) 7600 Gt was a good mainstream card in 2006 and with a Core2Duo its perfect i would say:). But the Geforce 7600 Series had probles with textures... it was blurry and not so sharp as it should be
@retro4fun358 I only had problem with Clear Sky at launch which was a driver issue preventing the game from running, had to wait a bit, I did end up buying a new rig 😂 SoC was running fine from the start
lol keep up xD
I played original Crysis just yesterday and I was totally shocked how good that game still looks even in 2025, the fact that it can somehow run on 20 years old HW is crazy.
If it was made on UE5, you would need RTX 6090 for the same graphics. 🙂 I finished original Stalker on 7600GT AGP and Celeron D 2.8 GHz, it was playable in 1024x768, but not literally great.
yes haha it's not a well optimized game... but there were games which run more worse than this. Like Boiling Point Road to Hell or GTA San Andreas....
@@retro4fun358 I never liked GTA, I always prefered Mafia, mainly because of I am Czech and Mafia is just our beloved game, but I remember that GTA SA looked really ugly to me and it performed pretty poorly for how it looks, it was just weird port from PS2.
@@Pidalin yes bad Port for the PC in terms of performance. It looks not great but better than PS2 because of the higher Resolation. Everyone benefits from different games. Tastes are different
My childhood song❤ I would even dance to it
Blows my mind that the 360 was able to run this game with higher fidelity than this. What an amazing console. Love the vid and retro cards!
The 360 came in the end of 2005. Much earlier than PS3. The Sofware is like a Athlon 64 X2 5400+and a GPU that was close to Geforce 7800 GTX. Its of course better than AMD ATlon64 3700+ and a Radeon X600 XT
I played the first stalker at launch on my ATI 9550 on a 17inch LCD LG 1280x1024 and it was amazing. Then I got a x1950Pro and I was lost for words when I first saw HDR in Oblivion and how good quake 4 was running.
You were really amazed by Oblivion? That game was ugly already back in the day, especially when you were used to playing FarCry, Half Life 2 and such games that looked much better already few years before. HDR, Bloom and stuff like that was super ugly, but Stalker Shadow of Chernobyl still looks pretty even even now. I play a lot of old games, but I am always shocked how ugly Oblivion is when I try it now and it was ugly already in 2006, Fallout 3 and New Vegas on the same engine were also very ugly, but it was ok for that stylised dark humor visuals, Skyrim was also super ugly in 2011, but there is a massive jump in graphics in Fallout 4, that looks pretty good I would say still with the same engine. BTW, don't take me wrong, I really like Oblivion and I would prefer it over Skyrim, but that game was super ugly. Back to Stalker, even when original stalker can look slightly more outdated now, there was such a big jump in lighting and shadows in Clear Sky that it still looks really good even today.
@Pidalin the HDR in caves when you had a torch and the reflections on armor were amazing. The open world was also amazing, for me it was jaw dropping. Stalker had a lot of issues with my x1950pro indoors the lighting and shadows were amazing but as soon as I went out the fps would drop like crazy and had to drop the fully illuminated settings. Tried many fixes but nothing seemed to work, it was a driver issue maybe but also the game was a mess at launch 🤓. I had it on original disk and I was young, never checked for updates even months after release.
