Wow hands on... 43 minutes talking and less than 1 minute riding the bike.
@@wattebol I mean, I rode the bike for a lot before I started filming this video 😏 What would you like to have seen? (Thanks for watching!)
Are they still good? Is the locking mechanism holding up?
Yeah! I actually never use the locking mechanism as just the clip is strong enough, but my wife has Basil bags with the same clip and no issues after years
@@chrisphin Thanks!
Thank you for the in depth review. Very helpful for making an informed decision. Looks like a beautiful bike. I appreciate you also mentioning the phone mount as that is an important feature to me!!
Looking to buy a bike alarm for my ebike, any pointers?
1,5 years with my multicharger and I am very happy with it! I carry my two kids 6 and 2 yo regularly with it with no issues. BTW there is just a weight limit for passengers of 65kg.
I like this bike shop guy. After a few videos, he the type of person to help you fit a bike. Not everybody is a Bradley Wiggins as far as knowledge goes. (yes, I inserted my British TDF cycling reference).
you"ve more patience than me with people too full of their own importance to notice an ebike trying to get .by😟
This is exactly what I was looking for. You really took the time to go in depth and any questions I had about this bike are now more than answered. Nice!
Auto is from tour to turbo.
Nice one. The path has been massively upgraded between Broughty Ferry and Monifieth since this video
You can also just put it inside your car. It is possible the front wheel will need to come off and / or the passenger seat will have to be empty. But the big question is how did you get the bikes home in the first place?
take out the tyre and bring it to the workshop. easy enough i think
You need a towbar mounted bike rack like a Thule Easyfold XT
My E-Bike by Hitway; the BK8M Model is perfectly priced at $600 USD
This bike would be better with a Front Rack!
Good looks, but is it worth the price??
No, at best £2000. If you remove the battery and motor it's a £500-700 bike, the motor and battery would cost about £1300. Companies are hiking the price because of electric. I have an old bike which I fitted a bafang mid drive motor and 17.5ah (840wh) battery for £700, over 1700 miles, it's the cheapest and best way to go electric if you know how to use a spanner.
@@dogbreath6974 Ok grandpa.
I went with the U380 with Enviolo hub. Has a wider gear range than the C5. It is better value than RM. And has double the warranty on the frame, which was important to me.
If your rack is wide enough, one prong goes between down tube and fork, below down tube. the other prong goes in the space between seat tube and seat stay.
Great review. They have Tern? Check out the Orox for us please?
I don’t think they do carry Tern, but I’d love to try! (And thanks!)
Watching the Dog take dump in the back in funny as 💩.
Haha, I mostly managed to cover it with a cutaway…
I agree that the Riese & Müller bike looks nicer, they just have a nicer style to them. There a lot of neat features to the Gazelle though - that headlight plus the removable battery in particular. I love the 'three things' format at the end, it really helps understand the things to consider when looking at these bikes.
Thank you, I really appreciate the positive comment! And yes, lots to commend this bike too.
Fme rigid, how useless is your worldview…
Fine looking bags.......I just wish you would share a link, give us a name or site or something.
Great, in depth review 👍🏻 Really keen to get your view on the 2 different in hub gearing options (Shimano Nexus and Enviolo Vario).
This looks cool as a Dundee Ebiker. Is it pretty straightforward to secure the bike in the space? Does the driver do it or do the wheels lock into floor? Also worried about how you geat a heavy ebike up the stairs.
I’m pretty able-bodied so I’m happy to take it up myself, but it’s worth chatting to Ember’s customer service to see what assistance they’d give. The bike is held in the cabin with a single simple strap (sometimes I’ve done it, sometimes the driver has), but some coaches have a rack on the rear.
Thanks for the quick reply. Im sure I'd be fine getting it on :-) Just like to be prepared. Loving ur videos. I stay around the Sainsburys area so it's cool to watch. Keep up the good work.
@@ian2lorimer Thanks! I’m often round that way to shop or to take rubbish to the recycling centre!
Where do I get those bags?
Direct from Basil or one of their resellers. It’s this model: www.basil.com/en/city-bicycle-shopper-camel-brown.html
It is a lovely looking bike and the functionality looks spot on - belt drive is neat. The suspension or a comfier saddle sound good options. It is just a shame that you can't remove the battery to charge. I enjoyed the new format, particularly the chat with Daniel on the pros and cons of the bike.
Thanks so much for watching and leaving such a thoughtful comment!
Bro which place is this
Dundee, Scotland 👋🏻
Great video Chris - you make a lot of good points! Thanks again for coming to the event and contributing so well. Your ebike looks so smooth to ride!
A pleasure! Any time. (That’s the bike you tried, which IS smooth, but it’s also a bit thanks to the excellent stabilisation of the camera I use!)
A glorious day to be out on a bike!
The view of the water was amazing. I wish I had that kind of view where I live.
Hey great video. Planning to have the same bike. How do you hook the insta 360 to the bike, especially for the last minutes take ? It also seems like a nice add. Also do you use the bike tracking security features of riese muller?
This is a nice review but uh... what is the product called? Basil makes a lot of bags!
Looks like the Basil City Shopper Pannier Bag, Black, 14/16 Litre
Correct! www.basil.com/en/city-bicycle-shopper-camel-brown.html
What trailer mount system are you using?
You can’t see the difference between the two bikes. And you say there isn’t much difference mounting them .Mate you need to open your eyes. Clearly the step through is easier to mount Good grief.
I just got mine... Went for a ride, rung it against 7 people beside regular traffic, not one heard me
Oh really? It’s always fine for me, but I tend to be cycling in quite quiet areas. Sorry to hear it was disappointing for you, though!
@@ebikenuggs mmm oh well 🤷🏻♂️
Probably had AirPods on i find that anyone wearing noise canceling headphones or earbuds can’t hear squat
@@jaredharris1970 timbrebell and that really expensive little bell from spurcycle works really well though , same conditions . Oi is just too polite and my country ain't that polite 🤣
Litte late, but Yakima and others sell a cross bar adapter that will act as the bar for a traditional bike rack. Used this on several road trips over several hundred miles. Pretty sure this will suffice for a trip across town. The one a have is quite rugged with hard rubber/plastic on points that touch bike. No scratches or worries.

Great video. Bike looks amazing.
Thanks! And yes, a gorgeous chunky boy to have a spin on!
I've ridden both Van Moof & Cowboy, in Amsterdam & Brussels respectively, at the start of the year. I preferred Cowboy to Van Moof, rear hub motors are safer than front wheel hubs, particularly on wet cobbled stones. Both were overpriced & the poor post purchase dealer support, here in the UK, made them both not worth considering to buy, even living just outside London.
Great looking bags. Simplicity is the key here. I think that more people would cycle if there were easier and quicker options for carrying stuff. 🚴♂️ 🚴♀️
‘Carrying stuff’ is for me the thing that makes my ebike useful. Look out for my video on my beloved trailer too!
@@ebikenuggs Me too; except I haven't gone electric, I still ride conventional bikes. I will look forward to your trailer video. I have a couple of trailers to use. One is a converted kiddie-trailer if I need to keep things dry, and I have one those Chinese open-framed type trailers (VidaXL) for really heavy or big things. They get a lot of negative reviews on eBay, but mine is brilliant, and I wouldn't be without it. To paraphrase Henry Ford, they come in any colour you like - as long as it's black 😉
That sounds brilliant! Yeah, I started with a trailer for my daughter, but when she outgrew it I replaced it with a cargo trailer as it had become really useful for errands. Video is here: ua-cam.com/video/jdYjqlMPYGE/v-deo.html
Rain on glasses is definitely a PITA. You can’t even wipe them off due to smearing.
I've found RainX to be good on the lenses. I bought a pair of goggles for the really heavy stuff. My biggest problem with the rain is going through puddles and standing water, and not having enough room in traffic to cycle around them!
Ah, yeah, the inability to quickly jink around puddles when you’re sharing a road with cars is a pain.
Dighty burn looking affy full there.
I didn’t expect it to be so high! I know it burst its banks during Babet but I didn’t see it, and I thought it hadn’t been raining as much as to have it so high yesterday!
Nice work, half the work is in the preparation. I've stopped touching up the various bits of mine, the frame is aluminium, so it won't rust, and I keep telling myself it's adding "character" or patina!
I definitely hit that point with a lot of my things: trying to keep them nice for a long time and then eventually stopping worrying about it - usually after one big ding.
Might have missed it, but is this the speed bike version or the regular ebike? And if it's the latter, how hard is it to (manually) go over 15mphs? Thanks
I’m not quite sure what you mean by speed version, but yeah, the limit to the motor assist is 25km/h. And: I tend to tootle around everywhere at that speed, but I will say that even though it’s a heavy bike, once it’s rolling it doesn’t take much to keep it going, or push it faster. The momentum helps.
Thanks, this bike comes in a Speed variant as well, with motor assist up to 40km/h. I eventually went for the "regular" 25km/h model as the wife wasn't keen on those higher speeds in combination with our kids 😉 Thanks for the reply and nice review btw!
Hi Sr. the quality of this video is amazing. Can you tell me what camera did you used?
Thanks! I shot this on a Sony ZV-1.
Is that the size large or small?
That one is the small! 🤏🏻
Looks like the big one because the small one comes with a different tab
